Work Prophet

Chapter 38: Roberson's Demands

Li Yu took out a money pouch from his body and tossed it to Roberson.

After catching it and weighing it in his hand, Roberson complained, "Why is there so little?"

"There are Gold Coins inside. The purchasing power is very high in this realm; it's enough for you to spend for a while. Come find me when you're out."

Upon hearing this, Roberson's anger turned to joy, "You're not bad. It seems like we're going to get along just fine."

Li Yu didn't say anything else and took Roberson to Kaden's residence.

Kaden was already planning to sleep, but after Li Yu knocked on the door, she got up, casually threw on some clothes, and came out with an oil lamp.

She shone the oil lamp at Li Yu, then at Roberson behind him.

Roberson also unabashedly sized up the woman in front of him, but upon seeing Kaden's appearance, he was somewhat disappointed because, as Li Yu said, Kaden looked very ordinary, like a village girl you could find on any roadside.

Kaden also noticed Roberson's actions.

"Newcomer?"

Li Yu nodded, "Just arrived."

"Didn't you hold a baptism and introduction ceremony for him?"

"I'm not interested in that kind of thing," Roberson said, then twitched his nose twice, frowning, "What is that smell? It smells like shit."

"That is shit. The sanitation conditions in towns on this Continent are generally not very good," Kaden replied, "Do you mind if I have a private word with Merlin?"

"Go ahead, just don't make me wait too long."

Kaden invited Roberson in first, then took Li Yu a few steps away to the roadside, "What's going on?"

"His name is Roberson, a playboy."

"I can see that, but the question is why did the board send a playboy over?"

"Because he has good parents."

Kaden showed a face of realization, "What do you want me to do?"

"Aren't you teaching others the Universal Language of the Continent recently? I want him to learn from you for a while."

Kaden gave Li Yu a meaningful look, but didn't refuse, only saying, "He doesn't seem like someone who likes to study."

"It's okay, it's better if he doesn't learn."

"Are you sure you don't need to restrain him a bit? I know that kind of person. They usually cause a lot of trouble, and if left unchecked, it might affect our plans."

"Someone will come to restrain him; this is Bratis, after all," Li Yu said calmly.

After greeting Kaden, Li Yu placed Roberson in an inn.

That night, Roberson caused a fuss because he found the bed too hard, the sheets too coarse, and there was no toothbrush, but the inn's attendants couldn't understand what he was saying.

Although he held a bag full of Gold Coins, he couldn't articulate what he wanted to buy, and after exhausting himself, he could only fall asleep on the bed.

Roberson originally thought Li Yu would come to find him early the next morning, but he waited in the inn the entire day without seeing a trace of Li Yu.

Roberson's anger flared up, and on the third morning, he rushed to Kaden's place, only to find it empty again.

Ireya had just reclaimed the Golden Valley, and as Kaden worked as a consultant, she was quite busy herself. Recently, many people had arrived, so Kaden also had to help them integrate into the new world quickly; she didn't return home until dark.

And there she saw Roberson at the door, scowling.

"What exactly are you up to?" Roberson fumed, "You just left me in that lousy little inn for two full days! No one even came to see me."

"What do you want?" Kaden asked.

"Towel, toothbrush, mattress, bedsheets, a pillow from Dulremia, and an interpreter—female, preferably a white girl under twenty-five."

"We don't have any of those things here," Kaden said.

Roberson laughed as if he'd heard the funniest joke, "Ha, do you know who my mother is?"

"No, I don't."

"Of course you don't, otherwise you wouldn't dare speak to me like that. Where is that Merlin, that Chinese guy? Where is he now? I want him to see me, immediately."

"He went back; it's the weekend, so... it'll take some time before he comes back."

"Are you guys playing me?" Roberson's patience was wearing thin, "Who's in charge around here now? I want to see whoever's in charge."

"Lady Ireya, she's in charge here now."

"Great, then bring her here."

"I can't, as I said, she's the highest authority here now, and I don't have the power to summon her."

Roberson's anger turned into a sardonic smile, "Then take me to see her."

But Kaden still didn't move an inch, reminding him, "She's a local resident here, so even less likely to know who your mother is."

"You think I'm an idiot; that's what you were thinking just now, wasn't it?"

Roberson stepped forward two steps, towering over Kaden in front of him, his nose nearly touching Kaden's forehead.

The latter said, "I didn't think that way, just a simple reminder."

"Of course, I wouldn't be foolish enough to mention my mother to locals," Roberson said.

"I just want her to change my accommodation; that lousy inn reeks of cow shit and has fleas and lice.

"Besides, the food there is awful. I want to eat what the Nobles eat because, in another universe, I'm also a Noble. After that, I want to discuss business with her."

"What business?" Kaden asked.

"Real estate business. You said you just won a war, so you should have a lot of land in hand, right? Give that land to me to develop, and I can make her a fortune. Now, stop standing there and take me there."

Roberson clapped his hands next to Kaden's ear, urging her on.

Kaden obliged and took him to the castle, which had originally belonged to the Black Hand, and then was offered by Tamara to the Lilania couple. However, since they had to go clear out the remaining lands in the Golden Valley, they temporarily gave the castle to Ireya to reside in.

Miss Rabbit was chatting with Tamara; the two weren't discussing politics or military affairs; the young girl was simply asking Tamara about matters related to having children, as she felt it would soon be relevant to her.

They then started talking about Northern Territory cuisine. When Ireya heard Kaden had arrived and brought a guest wanting to see her, she let both of them in directly.

Originally, Roberson looked a bit indifferent, but his eyes immediately lit up upon seeing Tamara.

Over the past two days, he had already seen quite a few women, including prostitutes from the inn—he even slept with one—but the skin of those commoners was generally coarse and darker, incomparable to the Noble lady in front of him.

Roberson even caught a faint smell of milk on her.
