Work Prophet

Chapter 37: Nightmare and Rebirth

Roberson felt like he was in a nightmare.

In the dream, he was speeding down the highway in his Koenigsegg, while the Victoria's Secret Model in the passenger seat leaned over, trying to liven up the dull journey.

Roberson had one hand on the steering wheel, while the other became restless.

Seeing his interest, the model simply climbed onto his lap, but in the process, her arm hit the steering wheel, causing the Koenigsegg to swerve off its lane.

Roberson's gaze was fixed on the model, with no time to pay attention to where the car was heading, and the next moment tragedy struck; they crashed head-on into a normally driving Ford.

The two adults in the front seat of the Ford died instantly, the model's body smashed through the windshield, flew out, and her brains splattered, leaving her breathless.

The airbag saved Roberson's life, but his body suffered multiple fractures, leaving him unable to move even a single small finger.

Flames quickly engulfed, consuming the three children in the Ford along with Roberson.

Fortunately, a fire truck happened to drive by, and the firefighters aboard braved the raging flames and explosions to drag out all four trapped individuals and rushed them to the nearest hospital.

After that, Roberson was transferred to a top private hospital for a specialist consultation.

However, even with the most luxurious medical team in Great Britain assembled, they still couldn't heal Roberson, only barely sustaining his life through medical equipment.

As for the three children in the back seat of the Ford, their injuries were too severe, and despite rescue efforts, they had successively died.

Roberson, although alive, felt he was better off dead.

He was now paralyzed all over, with barely a patch of unharmed skin on his body, constantly tormented by pain.

Just when he wanted to give up hope, his mother Sloan arrived at the hospital.

Understanding her son's current condition, she surprisingly remained calm and asked the doctors and nurses to leave the ward.

Then Sloan told her son that they were actually in a sub-universe constructed by a combination of code and Divine Arts.

Upon hearing this, a glimmer of joy appeared in Roberson's previously hopeless eyes, but then his mother continued.

Although this was not the real world, it was no different from the real world, and injuries or death were irreversible, as the codes capable of carrying souls and possessing Alchemy-like equivalent exchange abilities couldn't be modified by anyone.

Roberson was thunderstruck upon hearing this.

But Sloan's subsequent words reignited his hope; she told him that the real world had been destroyed by extreme cold, but fortunately, humanity had predicted the apocalypse in advance.

Governments around the world united to create this sub-universe through Project Xingtian, allowing humans a temporary sanctuary once the disaster struck.

Then they restructured the original theological research institution, the Third Era, into a company tasked with finding a new homeland and pioneers.

"It's time to leave here," Sloan said to Roberson, "This planet is done for. Although it's not yet ready for large-scale migration, a few people can be sent ahead."

"Given your current physical state, I think you should go first." Sloan gazed lovingly at her son on the hospital bed.

"Your father and I paid a hefty price to secure this spot; our country lost three thousand tickets because of it. I came late because I was dealing with this matter.

"It wasn't easy to satisfy all parties, but it was all worth it. However, in the other world, you'll have to take care of yourself."

"Neither your father nor I can accompany you there for now, try to stir up less trouble, and discuss any issues after we move as well."

Once Sloan finished her instructions, she called the nurses and doctors back in.

Roberson was left digesting what his mother had just said; at first, he suspected she was merely comforting him.

But Sloan's demeanor remained serious throughout, and not long ago, she had even made a call to help push through a bill she had previously opposed in order to support the opposition party.

Only then did Roberson believe her words and got excited.

He always knew that no matter how big a mess he made, his parents would find a way to clean it up.

If Roberson's fingers could move, he would probably immediately take out his phone, post on Facebook, mock those who weren't eligible for the new world, and show off his pioneer player status at the expense of three thousand tickets.

— Someone would surely cry. Roberson intended to end with this sentence, pairing it with an image of Beckham crying, expecting to receive plenty of likes.

What a pity. Roberson lamented in his heart.

What bothered him more was that the person coming to take him to the new world was Asian; Roberson was not a racist, he just simply disliked Asians and Blacks.

But the good news was that this nightmare was finally over.

When he opened his eyes again, he indeed found himself in a new world, and his limbs could move.

"Quick, is there a mirror here? Let me see what I look like now." Roberson urged Li Yu.

So Li Yu handed him a makeup mirror, and Roberson first examined his face. It wasn't as handsome as before, but not ugly either, just had a pair of silly-looking horns on his head.

However, when Roberson looked down at his body, especially the important part, he immediately turned anger into joy.

"This body isn't bad, I can feel the strength contained in the muscles." Roberson clenched his fist, striking a bodybuilding pose, "It fits my masculine vigor."

"As long as you're satisfied," Li Yu said, "We've just finished a battle, and things are still unstable here, so generally, you shouldn't wander around, hmm, I'll find a teacher for you to learn the language of this Continent."

"Is she beautiful?" Roberson asked.

"Before coming here, yes, now... a little less so. By the way, her name is Kaden, she's from the United States."

"Ah, an American." Roberson pouted, "Fine, bring her to me for a look."

"Here?"

Roberson looked around, finding himself in a small woodland, it didn't seem like the best place for meeting people, and there were quite a few mosquitoes around.

So he said, "Let's go to where she lives then."

"Sure." Li Yu nodded, didn't waste words, turned, and walked out of the woods, Roberson followed, looking around eagerly.

When he finally saw the distant Rune City, his eyes lit up.

"A town, nice, there should be a lot of fun to be had inside, do you have money, give me some."
