Chapter 24: Titan Legion
The Shepherd Star Titan Civilization is considered the most adept at offense among the Predecessor Civilization Alliance.
Especially in siege warfare like fortress worlds.
In the Star Realm, countless Shepherd Star Titans wearing parachute armor approached the World Barrier, almost merging with the pitch-black endless Star Realm.
Soon, within the world, the Wizard Alliance army saw countless meteors streaking across the sky, as if the Divine were using a rain of fire to annihilate the world.
Upon seeing this scene, Gao Wen immediately knew something had changed. The war airship's sensors allowed him to see clearly that what was crossing the world barrier were not Furnace Men's parachute cabins, but pitch-black metallic meteorites.
"Plan #2! Disperse!"
Gao Wen decisively terminated Plan #1 and switched to the emergency Plan #2.
On the battlefield, a moment's hesitation could mean the difference between life and death.
Boom!
The Shepherd Star Titans, wearing parachute armor, crashed through the floating cannon group's delay force field with unstoppable momentum.
Immediately afterwards, they unfolded their armor to reveal their true bodies.
A series of Thunder Spears were thrown back at the delay force field by them.
The next instant, a humming sound could be heard.
The entire sky's floating cannon group short-circuited and shattered into pieces.
Even the war airship responsible for coordinating the delay force field wobbled as if it was about to fall from the sky.
All of the interceptor airships, only Gao Wen and some other teams that abandoned Plan #1 managed to retain their floating cannons.
"Monsters, receive Divine Punishment!"
A Titan of the World Lord Level stood in the sky and roared at the entire world.
Now, the alliance army realized they were facing Shepherd Star Titans, not Furnace Men from the Predecessor Civilization.
"This is big trouble now."
The Wizard Commander looked at the Titan in the sky, made a solemn gesture.
The next moment, thick purple-red tentacles extended from underground and directly pulled that Titan World Lord into the virus poison swamp.
The commander lowered his head in thought for a moment, then immediately spoke to the secretary beside him, "Request the Titan Legion from the rear. Our fortifications are insufficient to deal with Titans, we need reinforcements to achieve our goals."
"Yes, sir."
On the battlefield, the gigantic Titans noticed the virus demons in the swamp and started an immediate siege.
The thick refined gold enchanted armor made them almost ignore attacks below the 50,000 power level, and even attacks exceeding it could be blocked using the legion shield.
Hundreds of Titans formed a battle group, the outer layer blocking fortress firepower, the inner layer launching destructive attacks towards the swamp.
Titans spat out incandescent flames, almost instantly evaporating a patch of poison swamp, with surrounding swamps unable to replenish in time. Hidden virus demons attempting ambushes below were thus exposed.
"Monsters, I will grant you death!"
The Titan's voice was thunderous, like a celestial deity judging the sinners on earth.
In the middle layer, eighty-eight Titans had chains entwined with harpoons appear in their hands, instantly pinning the virus demon's form.
At their center, eight Titans' hand armor displayed an octagram formation.
Soon, eight distinctly styled weapons appeared in their hands.
Titans embraced an elite soldier path, thus all their weapons are uniquely crafted, used only under emergency for standard arms.
Hence, each of their weapons is a masterpiece.
Boom!
The virus demon waved its tentacles, trying to break free from the binding. However, imprisoned by eighty-eight Titans, even if it was a genuine World Lord, escape was impossible.
The eight core Titans, their expressions solemn, swung their weapons fiercely.
The next moment, infinite thunder and flames transformed the virus demon into charcoal, leaving only part of its tentacles sinking powerlessly into the swamp.
Upon confirming the virus demon's death, the squad leader commanded, "Threat eliminated, begin siege."
But they did not notice, those tentacles the virus demons considered limbs were beginning to "take root and sprout" in the swamp.
Buzz!
A light spear accompanied by thousands of different attacks struck the legion shield of the Titan battle group.
In an instant, the legion shield almost shattered.
The battle group's leader saw this, his expression subtly turned solemn, then ordered, "Deploy array #3 for defense. These creatures are not ordinary monsters; their technology level is merely slightly behind ours."
The leader's judgment was undoubtedly correct, but if he truly had autonomous thinking ability, he could've realized these technologies have some resemblance to theirs.
Unlike the Dominator, these summoned former armies seem to have autonomous thinking ability, but they're like NPCs in a game, eternally ignorant of what they're truly combating.
In their eyes, the Wizard Alliance's army is presented as war relic summoned by Civilization Devourer, still believing they're fighting for Civilization Alliance.
Titans shifted formation, overall resembling a hexagon. Energy circulated within them, then transformed into a very thick, and with a crystalline quality, energy barrier.
Before this new barrier, the fortress's energy attacks were almost like rainwater being shattered.
However, inside the fortress, the wizards did not panic.
Although wizards had not prepared fortifications specifically against Titans, there were contingency plans targeting Titans.
"Corruption Cannon, Shield Splitting Cannon, ready, fire!"
Accompanied by the Wizard Commander's order, the Abyss Demons' Corruption Cannons and the wizards' Big Decomposition Cannons fired simultaneously.
Due to the slower projectile speed of the Corruption Cannon, before it arrived, the shield of the Titans had already been breached by the Wizards' Shield Splitting Cannon.
The pitch-black eroding slime splashed directly onto the face of the leading Titan. In the next moment, these Titans were eroded by the Abyss, their bodies instantly disintegrating under the clash of the Abyss and the power of the Civilization Devourer, causing chaos in their formation as well.
Although the Abyss was created by the Titans, the Shepherd Star Titans had no resistance to Abyss Erosion at all.
This was also the Titans' preparation for being summoned as remnants of war after their extinction.
The breach opened, and the fortress's strike came in an instant.
Without the protection of the Energy Barrier, half of the Titan squad was annihilated by the energy strike in a flash. The remaining Titans, although still a threat to the fortress, no longer required the weapon of the World Master level to counter.
However, unfortunately, such a smooth situation was not common on this battlefield.
Sizzle...
The flesh walls of the fortress emitted a sizzling sound under the high temperature as a Titan squad forcibly broke into the fortress with sheer overwhelming might, clearing out the gods' garrison near them.
These Titans were all Third Level, and the development of their Bloodlines was quite extraordinary. The armor on their bodies, the weapons in their hands, were masterpieces meticulously crafted by the War Blacksmith.
Such Titans could even resist a World Master of a native world for a while, and appearing in squads, they could even slay an ordinary native World Master.
A Titan with mechanical arms all over its back reported to the tall Titan beside him, "Commander, their communication system is highly encrypted. We cannot hack into it; even jamming it is extremely difficult."
"Oh? That impressive?" The Commander was slightly taken aback, then revealed a hint of an excited smile, "Looks like that monster has pulled out his trump card again."
With that, the spear in his hand suddenly pierced into the flesh wall above, and then, a Second Level Abyss Demon fell out of the wall.
"A Second Level little rat dares to approach, truly ignorant of one's limits."
Sparks flickered on the Commander's spear, instantly scorching the blood on the spear.
"Since we can't work with the information network, let's move directly. After all, they all have to die in the end."
...
Hub World.
"... It's actually the Titan Legion."
The Great Wizard of the Bronze Spear looked at the report from the front line, and his rust-covered, ancient face visibly frowned.
Since it was a Wizard-built fortress world, the Commander inside the world was naturally a Wizard. Moreover, this defense was crucial, and the Truth Council would naturally not let ordinary people come to command.
Thus, the Great Wizard of the Bronze Spear, who was already preparing the dimensional prototype, was pulled to the front line.
"The Titan Legion?"
Beside the Great Wizard of the Bronze Spear, an Abyss Demon with a big belly showed a trace of surprise on his face.
"This makes it tricky, as our fortifications have no effect against the Titans."
The Great Wizard of the Bronze Spear put down the report, his brows filled with contemplation.
"The front line hopes we'll send in the Titan Legion for a counterattack. After all, it's the Abyss World, and the Abyss Titans have an advantage."
"That's indeed a good idea."
Opposite the Abyss Demon, a Main God who looked like a lizard opened his mouth and spoke.
"But the problem is, the Abyss Titans do not belong to our direct units." The Great Wizard of the Bronze Spear looked at the Lizard Main God, his voice full of fatigue.
"Mobilizing them must be reviewed by the Titan Dominator. But everyone knows that battlefield is a death trap."
Although the internal defense of these abandoned worlds is tight, the guards within them are actually discarded pawns.
Before dispatching them, the Command had already prepared for their complete annihilation.
The Abyss Demon chuckled, "Heh, that's for sure, throwing the noble Abyss Titans into such a cannon fodder battlefield, if this request is sent up, it would surely be scorned."
"If it were within us, we'd probably lose our heads."
"So just abandon them?" the Lizard Main God looked at the Abyss Demon and asked word by word.
"Most of them are elites."
"Elites?" The Abyss Demon sneered, "The ones who survive on this battlefield are the elites. Besides, how come I didn't see you so kind-hearted towards the soldiers of the mid-level defense circle?"
The Lizard Main God showed a hint of anger on his face.
"You cold-blooded Abyssal Trash, even if you don't think of those legions, you should at least think about the time they buy us.
If there's no support, can we finish the construction in time?"
The Abyss Demon retorted sharply, "Fool, if you can't calculate yourself, then go learn. I've already calculated, and the time is just right..."
"Enough!"
The Great Wizard of the Bronze Spear emanated a pressure surpassing Level 6 Creatures, instantly silencing the bickering Level 6 creatures.
"I'll go submit a report. Although the time is enough, who can guarantee no unexpected incidents?
The Hub World must be defended. This is not a request; it must become a fact!"
After speaking, a Rune Gate appeared in front of the Great Wizard of the Bronze Spear.
After entering it, the Great Wizard of the Bronze Spear emerged in less than two minutes.
"So fast? That Dominator showed you no respect?" The Abyss Demon said, slightly surprised.
"No, that master was quite accommodating." The face of the Great Wizard of the Bronze Spear looked a bit strange. "He agreed to our request and even offered full support."
Upon hearing this, both the Abyss Demon and the Lizard Main God showed a hint of surprise on their faces.
But quickly, the Abyss Demon sneered, "New and old Titans clashing, looks like there's going to be a good show this time."
