Wizard: I Can Refine Everything

Chapter 25: The Present May Surpass the Past

Abyss World.

Beside the phalanx of the massive Abyss Titans, Richard's avatar said to Talal Peak next to him, "Actually, I still don't quite understand your decision. You should be able to see that place is a meat grinder."

The United Military Department applied for the assistance of the Abyss Titan Legion, which Richard naturally had to be informed about.

However, he did not interfere with Talal Peak's decision, as the decision to support was Talal Peak's own judgment.

Upon hearing this, Talal Peak did not directly answer but instead asked back, "King, what do you think of the Abyss Titans of the new era?"

Richard was slightly taken aback and after pondering for a moment, replied, "Very perfect, the evolution tree of the Abyss grown over millions of years has made the Abyss Titans almost flawless.

The evolution that can compete against any environment, any situation, can be found in the bloodline."

Talal Peak also greatly agreed with this viewpoint. He nodded and said, "King, I also think so, and these Abyss Titans also think so.

That is precisely why I want them to enter that meat grinder for a trial."

Richard was startled and was a bit puzzled about the connection between the two.

Talal Peak continued, "King, we think the Abyss Titans are perfect because we have truly delved into studying our own bloodline. We understand where this bloodline is powerful and what we can achieve through developing it.

But these little guys are different.

They are born with the bloodline of the Abyss Titans, and constrained by conditions, they have no deep understanding of their bloodline.

Their minds are like children, easily blinded by the apparent strength of the bloodline and thus succumb to instinct.

Therefore, they need trials, a trial of blood and fire.

The Abyss Titans are different from the Shepherd Star Titans. In the past, even after establishing an Earth Veins womb, it would take at least ten years for the emergence of an infant of the Shepherd Star Titans.

Though their growth could be accelerated by resources, it would still take five to six years to become a reserve warrior.

However, it takes only a few months for the Abyss Titans to be born and further grow quickly. From birth to maturity, within a year, they have all the foundations to become warriors.

Further down the line, basic education requires a long time to be effective. But if they undergo a trial, one war is enough."

Listening to this, Richard fell silent. Although he was accustomed to seeing legions as numbers, Talal Peak's words still stirred a trace of shock in his heart.

Titans are a race rich in emotion. The early scarcity of Titan population meant that Titans had a restrained yet enduring affection for their kin.

Creatures do not enjoy advancing alone.

Yet, at this moment, the naturalness in Talal Peak's words revealed an almost cruel rationality.

This deviates from the emotions of Titans, and what's capable of causing all this is probably a series of decisions.

"War is truly cruel, Talal Peak," Richard said slowly.

Talal Peak replied with a smile, "King, war has always been this way."

...

Although Talal Peak decided to let the new era's Titan Legion undergo a trial of blood and fire, this didn't mean he was sending this group of Titans to their deaths.

Before heading to the battlefield, the expertly crafted giant power armors developed by the Wizard had already been equipped to this batch of Titans.

Moreover, single-soldier Decomposition Cannons, Decomposition Force Field Spears, Enhanced Instant Death Swords, Corruption Cannon biological attachments, and many auxiliary attachments for combat made every Abyss Titan fully armed.

This batch of the Titan Legion has only ten thousand members, but more than half of them are Abyss Demons infused with blood.

The combat experience of these demons, coupled with Talal Peak's training, is sufficient to give this legion the fighting capabilities of a conventional Titan Legion.

But whether they can survive depends only on themselves.

The cargo AAirships temporarily transformed into Flying Airships, each with the eight-meter-high, statue-like Abyss Titans silently sitting in the cargo hold.

Although they were about to participate in a highly intense war, their bodies secreted large amounts of hormones, making their bodies active yet remarkably rational.

"Twenty-three, how do you feel?" an Abyss Titan suddenly asked a companion beside him.

"How? I can only say I feel unprecedentedly good right now."

"That's good, don't die, twenty-three. After the war, we'll have a vacation. I really want to see that Ashen Day World you mentioned.

A black sun that snows, this world is truly odd."

"Shut up, twenty-four. Your words are too ominous. I heard from a Curse Wizard that soldiers who wish for post-war plans before the war mostly die on the battlefield."

"Hmm? You should have said so earlier."

Buzz! Buzz!

Accompanied by a buzzing sound, the cargo AAirships passed through the Teleportation Gate to one of the two hundred seventy-five abandoned worlds.

Their war officially began.

"Titan Battle Group, Titan Battle Group, please respond."

"Titan Battle Group has received."

"Good, Titan Battle Group, I am the highest commander of World 194. You will be directly commanded by me henceforth.

Now tell me your numbers, and actual numbers."

"We are a total of one thousand, actual number one thousand."

"A thousand people? Zzz... Fine, a thousand will do, quality over quantity. Now, you head to War Fortress 346 and clear out the Titan Squad there.

They have used some kind of weapon to seize part of the control of the Flesh Fortress; be careful of ambushes during the attack."

"Yes."

With a brief response from the battalion commander, this thousand-man Titan Battle Group received their first mission.

The battalion commander's power armor received the map, and then they followed a device known as the "Abyssal Throat" through a vein of flesh to arrive at Fortress 346.

As soon as they appeared, a massive roar rang in their ears.

Boom!

A land-made Four Elements Annihilation Bomb exploded beneath their feet, vaporizing several Titans near the center of the blast almost instantly.

"Alert!"

Trained instincts had these Titans form a defensive battle formation almost instantly.

The death of their comrades did not frighten them; Abyss Demons are born biological weapons, and Abyss Titans are an evolved version of Abyss Demons.

Within their cognitive organs, the calming factor turned their thoughts as cold as Ice, like a storm.

They activated their detection methods methodically, everything perfectly executed as if it were practice.

"Left front, 3 o'clock direction, target found hiding."

"Eliminate him."

In the walls of the Flesh Fortress, a Shepherd Star Titan watched this organized legion with increasing confusion.

How is it that this unidentified legion's actions are almost the same as theirs?

But before he could delve deeper into thought, three Decomposition Cannons instantly pierced through the fortress's flesh in front of him. Following the cannons, a Decomposition Force Field Spear shot through the Shepherd Star Titan's chest like a meteor.

The entire process seemed effortless, almost smoother than during drills.

The Shepherd Star Titan suffered a heavy blow and instinctively counterattacked; a 50,000 Power Level Thunder Chain emerged from his hand, slithering like a viper along the Decomposition Force Field Spear.

Unfortunately, all his reactions were anticipated by the battalion commander.

Releasing his grip and stepping aside, the battalion commander's hand suddenly sprayed a black slime. The slime adhered to the Titan, instantly commencing Abyss Erosion.

The Decomposition Force Field combined with Abyss Erosion, and within less than a second, the ambushing Titan disintegrated entirely.

The battalion commander retracted the Decomposition Force Field Spear and calmly said, "Continue advancing."

The Abyss Titans remained silent, even within the communication network it was completely quiet.

The battlefield's danger had already stimulated their Bloodline, forcing their cognitive organs into calmness, lacking any alternative emotion.

This is a double-edged sword.

Calmness can help them adapt to the battlefield, but it also symbolizes an inability to control their Bloodline.

Unable to control the Bloodline means inability to control instincts.

Failure to control instincts makes one a beast. Even if a beast survives, it will be stripped of Titan identity at Talal Peak and thrown into the Trial Arena as a Trial Prop.

The Abyss Titans advanced silently, while within the fortress, the Shepherd Star Titans also sensed the impending danger.

"Fu Kang is dead, the support for these monsters has arrived."

The Titan battalion commander's warning rang in the ears of every Shepherd Star Titan, and the next moment, all of the Shepherd Star Titans heightened their alertness to the maximum.

However, all of their vigilance was in vain.

Boom!

Three Abyss Titans suddenly burst from the flesh walls, using Decomposition Cannon, Decomposition Force Field Spear, and Corruption Cannon in a nearly instantaneous execution of a standard kill routine. The opposing Shepherd Star Titans barely had time to react.

"Bastards!"

A Shepherd Star Titan cried out in anguish, swinging a Flame Long-handled Blade. In an instant, the temperature of the entire passage soared to a thousand degrees, causing steam to rise from the walls of the Flesh Fortress.

But before his blade could fall, the three Abyss Titans had formed a perfect triangular battle formation.

At the front of the triangle, an Abyss Titan projected a Rune Shield from his arm.

Zzz...

The long blade slid left along the deflection barrier, while the two Titans at the back seized the opportunity to thrust their Decomposition Force Field Spears.

The Decomposition Force Field instantly destroyed the Shepherd Star Titan's armor, disintegrating his body into a blood mist.

The shielding Abyss Titan spoke calmly, "Senior, didn't your instructor teach you that in battles between equals, numbers decide the combat strength?"

Retrieving the long spear, the leading Titan fired a pitch-black Instant Death Sword in his hand, ending the Shepherd Star Titan's life with one stroke.

They then suddenly turned their gaze to the other side of the passage.

On the other side of the corridor, three Shepherd Star Titans had already organized into a triangular formation.

The lead Shepherd Star Titan let out a deep, angry roar: "Traitors, your souls should be hammered on the Anvil for a hundred thousand years!"

In response, the Abyss Titans charged silently.
