Wizard: I Can Refine Everything

Chapter 23: The Great Retreat (Part 2)

As the countdown ended, the entire atmosphere of the Abyss World suddenly changed.

This change was clearly felt by both the side of the Alliance and the side of the Furnace Man.

It felt as if the direction of a great river suddenly changed.

Quickly, the Furnace Men realized this was a sign of the Doomsday Weapon being activated.

The battle array fortresses in the sky, ready to enter the world, immediately ascended, and the Furnace Man Army on the ground also flew towards the sky.

Doomsday Weapons can only be stopped before activation; once activated, any weapon requires the highest standard of treatment from a corps.

In fact, the Doomsday Weapon is targeted at the Dominator Level combat power. If a Dominator can be trapped in the world, some Doomsday Weapons' power is enough to wipe out the Dominator's Divine Soul.

At least the Furnace Man possessed such weapons and did indeed kill Dominators before.

However, the retreating Furnace Men clearly misunderstood one fact.

That is, they were not facing a world but a life form disguised as a world.

From the moment this world was completely eroded, it had already become part of the complex life form known as the Abyss.

These guys, at this moment, were equivalent to entering the body of the Abyss; how could such a terrifying creature as the Abyss let them leave!

In an instant, the World Barrier suddenly produced intense fluctuation. Unimaginable spatial compression, nearly instantaneously severed those war fortresses that hadn't completely left the World Barrier, leaving the break smooth as a mirror, without a single burr.

Immediately, the energy in the air began to vibrate.

Every world has its own special rules, but in this world, even local gods barely know that this world has a special rule.

The energy in the air vibrated continuously, then transformed into sharp spatial waves.

These spatial waves are a manifestation of the special rule.

Through energy vibration, the internal space of this world resonates with the energy, forming indestructible Spatial Blades.

Though these blades do not have high Energy Levels, their penetration ability is exceptionally strong; if measured equivalently, each of these blades is equal to a hundred thousand Energy Levels of Shaping Magic.

Under the manipulation of the Abyssal Will, the entire world was filled with these Spatial Blades. Whether it was the Alliance's Flesh Fortress or the Furnace Man's Furnace Fighter, they were all instantly sliced to pieces.

Even the surviving Furnace Man war fortresses saw their outer armor completely shattered, barely holding on to this world-class attack with Energy Shields and the internal Regeneration Armor.

Of course, such a world-class attack does not come without a cost.

The Power of World Origin of this world was severely depleted; without the control of the Abyssal Will, it would soon enter a dormant state.

Under the control of the Abyssal Will, the Earth Veins began to boil, countless frenzied energy carrying Power of Abyss, burst upwards like a flood.

The Earthly Divine Kingdom System was destroyed in an instant, but was replaced by a more massive and complex array.

Under the function of the array, a subtle resonance suddenly echoed throughout the world.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

This resonance nearly instantly grew to a level audible to humans, and then, in another instant, turned all the Flesh Fortresses on the ground into basic material particles.

But this was still not enough.

The resonance continued to strengthen, the earth was shattered, and even the Furnace Man war fortresses in the sky didn't escape destruction, being annihilated along with the resonance.

Subsequently, even the basic material particles couldn't withstand, starting from the complex, then quickly spreading to simple particles, the entire world was restored to fundamental elements by this resonance.

Thus began the Annihilation.

From the Star Realm, this world suddenly became incredibly bright, as if a Supernova exploded within it.

This brightness lasted a long time, but when the brightness ended, the world was still present.

Its interior, however, was already a void.

Elements, rules, to the world are like clothes.

Though having no clothes would be embarrassing, the world does not disappear or die because of it.

Nonetheless, this was enough.

For the Civilization Devourer, this world was almost valueless.

Even if the Civilization Devourer forcibly converted the World Origin into part of itself to recover its injuries, its power would be significantly drained in the process.

This would greatly slow its pace of devouring other worlds, and time is exactly what the Alliance needs most.

Assassinating the Civilization Devourer is unrealistic, because as long as there exists a devoured world, the Civilization Devourer still exists.

War is the only thing that can kill this war's mastermind.

The same scene played out continuously in two hundred seventy-five abandoned worlds.

Facing the Furnace Man Army, even with advantageous terrain, the Alliance struggled to hold its ground.

The technological gap, the difference in soldier quality, cannot be compensated for by simple terrain advantage.

Soon, the middle defense line was broken, and massive troops reached the inner defense line.

...

Inner defense line.

"Hurry up, move faster!"

In front of the Abyss Net Path, soldiers from the front lines continuously withdrew from the path.

After the world's destruction, although the Abyss Net Path would collapse, the impact was minor, and an hour was enough for retreating troops to reach the safety zone.

These soldiers had hardly any physical injuries, but they were mentally exhausted.

The Furnace Man's army was intelligent, and the Wizard Alliance's resistance made the Furnace Man realize that conventional methods could not quickly defeat the Alliance, so they began deploying Curse Viruses within the world.

These curses wouldn't cause direct death or frenzy among soldiers—such curses were too easily detected and countered.

The effect of these Curse Viruses was to increase the spiritual power consumption of soldiers.

Initially, this consumption was negligible, but as the curse deepened, its effect grew until even with continuous meditation, a creature's spiritual power couldn't support the Curse Virus consumption.

Eventually, the Curse Virus would completely alter a being's soul, transforming it into a Curse Creature, thus further enhancing the Curse Virus's effect.

Beside these soldiers, Curse Wizards in black robes and Miracle Wizards in white robes wore bird-beak masks, casting curse detection and Purification Skills with their Magic Wands.

Under the Holy Light, soldiers from the gods felt at peace, while Abyssal Demons showed disgust.

The Holy Light was not inherently opposed to the Abyss; it only harmed Abyssal Demons because of the gods' war with the Abyss.

Now that the war had ended, the Holy Light was just ordinary light for Abyssal Demons. Divine Arts and Miracle Witchcraft could affect Abyssal Demons normally.

Watching the gods' soldiers quickly show no curse reaction under the Purification Skill, a black-robed Curse Wizard exclaimed, "Your Miracle Wizards' Purification Skill is really handy."

Initially, Curse Wizards handled the Curse Virus entirely.

Although Curse Wizards could remove curses, their efficiency was lacking.

On the Great Wizard's suggestion, Miracle Wizards began handling the Curse Virus.

Initially, Miracle Wizards served as Curse Wizards' assistants, but once their Purification Skill directly cleared the Curse Virus, they became the main force, and Curse Wizards became assistants.

"It's just different strengths," the Miracle Wizard smiled. "We excel at support, you excel at offense; it's just a matter of different roles."

The Curse Wizard sighed, "That's true, but for offense, our curses are nowhere near as effective as cannons."

Suddenly, a piercing alarm sounded.

The expressions of the wizards behind the bird-beak masks instantly turned serious.

This was the highest level of alarm, indicating that the Furnace Man army appeared on the world's outskirts and had begun their assault.

...

The shrill alarm echoed in Gao Wen's ears.

He opened his eyes, stood up, and linked himself with the War Airship.

"Everyone ready, enemy attack, initiate Plan One."

With that, the massive War Airship trembled violently, then accelerated along the pathway.

Within the wizards, a complete strategy was in place for combat against the Furnace Man army.

Going through the process, barring major incidents like a Commander's death or Sixth Circle combat power dying early, wizards could slow the Furnace Man army's attack pace to a crawl, measured in decades.

Of course, this was within the wizards' Fortress World.

In the crude Abyss Fortress World, it could only delay them for a few years.

But even that was enough.

The Alchemy Wizards' construction team was at full power, building massive war fortresses with construction times measured in days.

Countless rare materials flowed into the Fortress World through the gods' Transmission Array: what was once rare Pure Gold and Mithril now deemed standard materials.

Compared to the costly materials used for World Master-level weapons, even Pure Gold and Mithril were mere common metals.

Once leaving the acceleration path, the War Airship detached from the war fortress and soared skyward with the main force.

In the sky, the wizards' War Airship swam like a school of sharks. Countless Floating Cannon Groups flew from the Airship, constructing a stalling Force Field in the sky that nearly covered the entire sky.

Under the stalling Force Field, mountainous Flesh Fortresses divided the land, filled with various weapons, and weapons with thousands of energy levels didn't even qualify to enter the fortress.

And between fortresses, deadly viral poison swamps sprawled.

The viruses in these swamps were potent viruses brewed by Beelzebub's Virus Pharmacists; falling in could be fatal even to a World Master. Moreover, the swamps harbored many Virus Demons. These Demons' physical strength matched Level 4 Creatures.

Even if Furnace Men fell into the toxic swamp fully protected, these Virus Demons would drag them into the swamp's depths, fueling its spread.

At this intensity, it formed an impenetrable iron-walled world for conventional warfare.

But, for some reason.

A sense of unease lingered in the minds of many intuitively sharp veteran wizards.

Suddenly, the sky's colorful spore clouds churned, space ripples appeared, and colossal war fortresses began entering the world.

But this time, these fortresses were unlike any they had seen before.

In the Star Realm, gigantic war fortresses slowly entered the world, and around them, countless colossal human-like figures slowly approached the World Barrier.

The Alliance overlooked one thing.

The Civilization Devourer didn't solely rely on Furnace Man armies.
