Chapter 65: Divine Stele (Part 2)
"My people didn't fall behind, did they?"
"Of course not." The Guardian replied, neither humble nor arrogant, "They completed the task excellently without letting the power of the Divine Stele lose any strength."
"Hmm, that will do." Diana's expression showed no abnormality, with a matter-of-fact tone, "The Prison Director will take some time to return. Before that, we must ensure no seal goes awry, especially the Four Divine Steles, understand?"
The Guardian placed a hand on his chest: "Understood."
After instructing the Guardian, Diana, under the guise of inspection, ascended the Divine Stele. The Guardian did not accompany her; it was her Servant who was by her side.
On the sides of the Divine Stele were two completely different worlds.
The inner side was an ancient and eerie prison, while the outer side was a world sealed in ice for a millennium, devoid of any living beings.
Diana reached out towards the snow and ice, then attempted to gather Magic Power, but just as the magic whirlpool appeared, it dissolved instantly.
This is the power of the Ice Curse; it freezes not only life but also Magic Power. Unless a method to break it is found, even the most powerful person cannot manipulate a single strand of magic in such ice and snow and will eventually freeze to death in this white light.
Diana withdrew her gaze and looked towards the supply providers on the other side.
By rule, the magic power supply of the Divine Stele can only be borne by the Guardian.
But now, half of the suppliers below have been replaced by Diana's Servants.
"Is everything arranged?" Though she already knew the answer, Diana still asked.
"Everything is arranged, Master." The Servant bowed, "Half of the suppliers for the Four Divine Steles have been replaced with our people, just waiting for you to make the choice."
Diana pondered for a moment and said, "Let's choose this one."
The Four Divine Steles serve as the outermost and most expansive seals of the Abyss Prison.
Once there is a problem with the Four Divine Steles, it indicates an invasion of the Abyss Prison, and the consequences of that are self-evident.
Diana looked down at the providers beneath her feet and softly said, "Remember, act quickly, don't let them react."
"Yes, master."
"Also, take control." Diana warned, "Do not completely destroy the Divine Stele."
"I understand, master."
Diana nodded.
Yes, this is her plan.
Isaiah covets Visas's corpse, sabotages the Ice Curse Divine Stele, kills all providers, and invades the Abyss Prison.
And given Isaiah's formidable strength, Diana must immediately request the Prison Director's Heavenly Voice Obedience to eliminate Isaiah to prevent irreversible consequences.
Diana believes the Prison Director will undoubtedly comply, as nothing in his mind is more important than the Abyss Prison. Even if Diana asks him to eliminate Ulu, Cesar, and Hewinia simultaneously, he would not hesitate.
But then, explaining afterward would be problematic for Diana, so just targeting Isaiah would suffice.
The reason Diana dared to do this is that Isaiah has already left the Heavenly Voice Obedience to search for "Hand Eye." To avoid disturbing him, there are no spies or surveillance around Isaiah.
This also means no one can prove that the one intruding into the prison isn't Isaiah.
When the Heavenly Voice Obedience activates and Isaiah is erased by the will of the gods, even if it turns out he was wronged, it would be meaningless. After all, besides Isaiah, who else has the capability to sabotage the Divine Stele?
Diana is confident she can clear herself utterly; she also believes for Isaiah, it's a no-win situation.
Of course, Diana wouldn't mess up the entire sealing and restrictions of the Abyss Prison just to frame Isaiah; she knows what's important and what's not.
The power of the Divine Stele is potent; a single Divine Stele having an issue doesn't affect the entire outer restrictions' operation.
In fact, as long as there is one intact Divine Stele, the outer restrictions can operate normally. So as long as not all four Divine Steles are destroyed simultaneously, it doesn't lead to irreversible consequences.
Thus, destroying a single Divine Stele is absolutely safe.
Diana comforted herself in her heart.
And at this moment, she felt a huge wave of emotions emanating from her Servant beside her.
Although she knew what the other wanted to say, Diana still opened her mouth: "Speak, what do you want after it's all over?"
The Servant buried his head as low as possible and said in a trembling voice: "Dare not request, just... plead."
"You want me not to take your children as servants?"
"Yes, yes." The Servant said, "I hope you will agree."
Diana looked at the humble servant before her, remained silent for a while, then nodded slightly: "Okay."
After saying this, she turned and left.
The Servant then fell to the ground, word by word saying: "Thank you for your kindness, we will surely protect all of yours with our lives."
Diana did not turn back, but she knew this was the last meeting with this servant.
The Guardian here would be "killed" by Isaiah.
Her Servants naturally too.
...
Tired, so tired.
Can't keep going.
Really want to rest.
Hewinia thought this.
"Sister, sister, rest here for a while." A child by the roadside beckoned to her, "We have a bed at home, come lie down for a while."
Hewinia turned her head and saw that the child raised a finger sincerely.
"Just lie down for a while," the child said.
Really, can I lie down for a while?
No, maybe not; she still has things to do.
Hewinia walked forward.
After the child, there was an enthusiastic lady; she warmly said, "Ah, want to come to my house and sleep for a bit? I have the softest pillow at home."
Soft... pillow?
Indeed, quite tempting.
Hewinia wanted to stop.
No... can't.
She lifted her head and looked at the figure walking ahead.
I cannot stop; I have to keep up with that fellow.
Hewinia thought thus, then proceeded forward.
Next was another amiable old man; she softly said to Hewinia, "Why push so hard? You've done enough; you can rest."
I've... done enough?
Hewinia's gaze became increasingly dazed.
Already allowed to rest?
"Yes, you can rest now."
The answer came from the first child; she raised her head to see that the child she had left behind, the lady, and the old man who spoke earlier were all gathered together. They sat comfortably on chairs, smiling and persuading Hewinia.
And among them, there was an empty chair.
"Come, child, you're already tired enough." The old man smiled as he reached out a hand to her, "You can rest now, take a good rest."
Hewinia's mouth opened wide; she wanted to say something but couldn't, and her body already responded instinctively—moving towards the chair.
"Come, come quickly." All the voices uttered the same sound, "You can have a good rest."
"No need to strive any longer."
"Just sleep a little, softly sleep a bit."
Like a lullaby.
Eventually, Hewinia stood before the chair, then slowly leaned down, seemingly ready to fall back like standing on a cliff.
But then, another image burst forth in Hewinia's mind.
A pale world.
A pit piled high with bodies.
She lay in the pit, looking blankly at the leisurely youth sitting beside it.
The youth chuckled as he spoke: "Is it okay like this?"
"Really want to sleep away just like this?"
Hewinia instantly widened her eyes, controlling her body as if someone at the edge of the Abyss pulled themselves back.
The faces that urged her to nap earlier suddenly became ferocious and twisted.
"Why?! Why not sleep?!"
"Hurry and sleep! Isn't it good to slumber forever?!"
They screamed as they lunged at Hewinia, but for the now awakened Hewinia, it was ineffective.
She shut her eyes, and these voices immediately vanished.
And when she opened her eyes again, the village disappeared, standing before her was an enormous black Divine Stele, shading the sky and sun.
"Oh?" Edwin, beneath the Stele, looked at her in surprise, "You actually woke up by your own will?"
Hewinia didn't speak, merely quietly gazing at the Stele, engraved with countless people seemingly asleep.
This is the... Divine Stele of Soft Sleep.
