Chapter 548: Elder Bingwen
Despite how much they were against it, the elite guards that had captured Adam couldn't argue with the man that held a blue amulet, as they all left the large office.
However, they stood outside and were ready to storm into the office at any moment, not wanting their master to be in any danger whatsoever.
"Now then, let me introduce myself. I am Elder Bingwen and am one of the few elders involved in law enforcement and protection of the Martial Arts Union. You are the prime suspect for many murders, and there are also many others that are missing that we assume are dead. Do you have anything to say for yourself?"
He spoke very calmly as he gently waved his fan onto himself, blowing a cool breeze that ruffled his hair slightly.
"Yes, but I would like to speak in private and I'm sure you can make that happen," said Adam as he stood up.
Elder Bingwen couldn't help but be curious and responded, "I will give you one chance."
Waving his fan, he formed a barrier around the entire office that was sound proof and also blocked all spiritual senses from spying on them.
As soon as he did, Adam smashes apart the cuffs that he had on with ease, shocking Elder Bingwen greatly.
Even he couldn't accomplish such a feat, and those cuffs would not only block all energy, but would also weaken the entire body, making it so that it was impossible to break out of them with physical strength alone.
And to add to that, they were formed from reinforced metals that were harder than any metals that non-cultivators would use, and yet Adam made it look easy.
He was able to do so through his Form Manipulation and his extremely dense energy, but to him, it wasn't much of a feat and there were multiple ways to break out of such cuffs that he could use.
Despite how incredible what he just did was, Elder Bingwen didn't seem intimidated by him in the slightest and asked directly, "Are you looking for a fight?"
There was no aggression coming from him, but it was clear that he was confident in his power and skilled in combat, otherwise, he wouldn't hold such a high position in the Martial Arts Union.
Adam smiled as he answered, "It's quite the opposite. I want to chat."
Hearing his response, Elder Bingwen was intrigued as he walked over to his desk, giving his back to Adam, and sat down at his desk.
The fact that he was confident enough to not keep his eyes on Adam at all times just went to show how strong he thought of himself as, but Adam truly wasn't looking for a fight with him as he went to sit down opposite him.
Smiling, Adam noticed that the Elder Bingwen's eyes twitched slightly as he did and he seemed to be starting to get annoyed.
"You sit before me as if we are equals. You are quite an arrogant boy."
Still remaining patient and maintaining his elegance, he decided to ignore it for the time being, but Adam's response rubbed him the wrong way even more.
"Who's to say we aren't equals? Maybe it's you who is too arrogant."
Adam smiled at Elder Bingwen who also had a slightly distorted smile on his face, but their eyes were engaging in an intense battle as they stared at each other.
There was a teapot as well as two cups, and pouring himself a cup, Adam could see that he was annoying Elder Bingwen even more, but he didn't care and just continued smiling.
"You do not that if you don't give me a good explanation for what happened, as a blue amulet holder and elder of the Martial Arts Union, I must publically execute you for killing so many that are affiliated to us," stated Elder Bingwen.
Adam wasn't fazed by his words in the slightest and while smiling withdrew his blue amulet from his inventory.
"Is that so?"
Seeing the blue amulet, he could immediately sense its presence and tell that it was real, but where did he get it from and how could he make it appear out of thin air without having a visible spacial treasure?
"Where'd you get that from?!" he yelled as he jumped up, completely losing composure.
"From some old man that just gave it to me and said that it would be useful for me in the Martial Arts Union," he answered nonchalantly.
"You must have met the master! And you call him an old man! Are you crazy?!"
"Calm down, where did your composure go?"
Simmering down, Elder Bingwen began asking Adam all sorts of questions and knew that only the master could give out a blue amulet so easily.
For anyone else to be given a blue amulet, it would require most of the senior figures in the Martial Arts Union to agree, and that hasn't happened yet.
"You do know that the master is barely seen, and only comes out a few times every year. He remains in seclusion and does a few small tasks and observes a few interesting things before disappearing again. Even I haven't seen him in the past decade."
Adam shrugged, "He seems like that kind of guy."
"I need to make a big announcement and..."
"No. I don't need people to know that I've got a blue amulet, and it doesn't mean much to me. I'm just here to participate in the tournament, have some fun and look for somebody," Adam stopped him sternly.
Elder Bingwen didn't bother arguing with him or asking him any more questions, and agreed to keep it a secret, but now they needed to sort out what exactly had happened that day.
Even as an elder, he had duties to fulfil and if Adam couldn't give him a good reason for his actions, it would be hard not for him to get punished by the Martial Arts Union, even with his blue amulet.
