Chapter 549: Real Identity
"So then, tell me. Was it you who killed all those people?" Elder Bingwen asked directly.
Adam nodded his head and answered, "Yes. And I would do it again if I could."
Sighing, Adam didn't show any signs of regret or fear, but he needed to know the full story before anything.
If the master recognised Adam as someone worthy of a blue amulet, he must be both skilled and clean hearted, so trusting in his master's judgement, he gave him the benefit of the doubt.
Telling him the whole story and genuinely telling him the truth, Elder Bingwen could tell he wasn't lying and although very ruthless, Adam definitely wasn't in the wrong.
"Su Lan is safe, you had a valid reason for avenging yourself and you have my complete support, so you don't have to worry. I will sort out everything for you, there's no need to worry. But I need to tell the rest of the elders and great elders that you have a blue amulet."
"Okay, thanks. I appreciate the help a lot, but you and the rest of the elders need to act normally around me. I am merely a youth that got into the national tournament. Nothing more, nothing less," said Adam as he got up to leave.
Elder Bingwen nodded his head and was amazed by the man before him, but he had one last question.
"Who are you really? Because you definitely aren't Liao Wei and you were somehow able to trick my subordinate, the Branch Master in the region you came from, to forget about his old friend that has the same name and appearance as you."
Adam smiled and never expected him to be able to figure that out.
"You are quite skilled aren't you. Well, I'll let you know, but I would appreciate it if you didn't let anyone else know. I have reasons for keeping my identity concealed for the time being."
"Sure, you have my word."
"Death. Adam. Founder and Secret Master of the Sentinels. And a friend of an underworld princess."
Elder Bingwen knew of Death hailing from America, and of the Sentinels Faction that he founded, so was amazed by who he really was, but didn't bother believing his last addition.
Seeing that, Adam just smiled and walked out of his office nonchalantly.
As he did, the guards were baffled as to what had happened and were about to stop him from going anywhere, but Elder Bingwen appeared before them and glared at them.
"If I let him leave, what made you guys think you were allowed to stop him?"
"S-Sorry Master. We didn't..."
"Just return to your duties and inform the rest of the guards that Ad-Liao Wei is not to be touched. He is not to be prosecuted by the Martial Arts Union and should be treated like any other participant in the tournament," he instructed.
Nodding their heads, one of them led Adam towards the waiting area where the rest of the participants could be found, while the others dispersed.
The central branch of the Martial Arts Union was incredibly large, and they had to run around it, otherwise, it would take an eternity to get around.
If one wasn't a cultivator, even with a vehicle they would struggle to get around, and upon arriving, Su Lan was shocked and rushed over to him.
"Is everything sorted out already?" she asked, baffled by how he was back so soon.
"Yes, I told you everything would be fine. But for now, go and sit alone. For the rest of the tournament, I want you to focus and make yourself proud. You are representing yourself, not your family, remember that."
"And if you come against me in the tournament, you better try your best."
She nodded and returned to where she had been sat, with Adam opting to sit somewhere else.
With that, the tournament was set to begin within the hour and the Martial Arts Union were preparing everything.
They prepared a grand arena that would put any large stadiums used for sports to shame, and it was large enough to seat hundreds of thousands.
With cultivators' superior senses, being able to watch the battles from all around the stadium was quite simple, and since it was a world revered event, the arena was enormous.
And unlike the regional tournaments that would be finished within a day, the national tournament could last as long as a week, and only one battle would take place at once.
Some battles would be long and others short, but just qualifying for the tournament was impressive enough and Adam observed that most were at least Master Level cultivators, which at that age, was incredible.
Two names were called each time a match was set to begin and there were all sorts of luxury facilities available for the participants as they awaited their turn, but most opted to just watch from the stands.
Coincidentally Su Lan's was one of the first two names called, and in the crowd were the senior and powerful figures within her family that were very influential, interested to see what she had been capable of.
Haering the rumours about her being romantically involved with the Dark Horse that appeared in the region she lived in, they were disappointed in her and saw her as a lost cause despite how great her talent was, but they were in for a great shock.
Her body that was once on the verge of collapsing and being destroyed by her great Internal Energy and skill, had now not only recovered, but been strengthened incredibly.
And to add to that, her cultivation and skills had improved by leaps and bounds thanks to Adam.
But all of those were just the physical improvements she had made.
Mentally she was on another level and was now fighting and improving for herself, not for her family or anyone else, and she felt more driven than ever before.
With a smile on her face, she headed to the arena and turning back to get a look at Adam; he gave her a wink and an encouraging smile, as she made her way towards the centre of the arena.
