When Dragon Balls Descend Upon Marvel

Chapter 256: Dragon Balls

Nick Fury returned home and saw his wife, Priscilla Fury. He spoke first.

"Darling, I need to ask you something."

Seeing that her husband had something important on his mind, Priscilla sat down on the sofa and asked,

"Fury, what do you need me to do?"

Nick Fury asked directly,

"Does your Skrull people have any recorded information on Thor, Asgard, and the god-king Odin?"

Priscilla was momentarily taken aback by the question. Then, after recalling what she knew about Asgard, she replied,

"Asgard is the home of the Aesir gods. Their ruler is Odin, a tremendously powerful and terrifying being. Thor, if the records are correct, should be the son of Odin.

Odin rules over the Nine Realms, and if the records are accurate, Earth should also be under their dominion."

She looked at him and asked,

"Fury, have your people encountered someone from Asgard?

I recall they haven't set foot on this land for a very long time."

Her words made Fury pause. He asked,

"Priscilla, are you saying Earth is one of the Nine Realms, under Asgard's rule?"

Priscilla nodded.

"That's right. Long ago, Odin led the Asgardian gods to unify the Nine Realms."

Fury frowned.

"If they rule Earth, then why haven't we seen any sign of them until now?"

Priscilla thought for a moment.

"No one knows why. Perhaps to them, Earth is like an estate they own — they care only for the nominal right of ownership. As for the ants or small animals living there, they wouldn't bother to drive them away.

And as for their presence, didn't they leave behind myths and legends on Earth?"

Fury's expression grew solemn.

"Earth belongs to the people of Earth. It does not belong to the Asgardians."

Having seen Captain Marvel's power firsthand, Priscilla didn't argue with him. Instead, she asked,

"Is Asgard planning to station troops here and take over?"

Fury shook his head.

"No. Only Odin's son, Thor, came to Earth with a few friends and clashed with his other son, Loki. Afterward, they returned to Asgard.

But just the conflict between his two sons was enough to completely destroy a small town in Mexico — and then they just walked away as if nothing happened."

Priscilla considered this and replied,

"Fury, Asgard's strength is acknowledged by all empires in the universe. You have to understand, when Odin conquered the Nine Realms, he had the power to unify the entire universe. But no one knows why he stopped, leaving only those nine realms under his rule.

And aside from Asgard itself, the other eight realms are under only nominal rule. As long as they don't openly declare rebellion, Asgard won't interfere with their development and way of life. In fact, they'll even protect them.

Also, Odin's son Thor coming to Earth could be an opportunity for you. If S.H.I.E.L.D. can build a strong friendship with him, it could become one of your greatest assets."

Fury nodded in agreement. She was right — befriending Thor would be like befriending all of Asgard. And Thor's terrifying strength was even greater than Smith Dole's. If Thor joined the Avengers, he might even serve as a counterbalance to Smith Dole himself.

With that thought, Fury embraced Priscilla and kissed her.

Asgard.

Thor wasn't in the mood to enjoy the banquet as he usually did, not joining in the Warriors Three's conversation. Instead, he rose and left the hall, intent on speaking to his father about the Dragon Balls.

Seeing Thor leave, Sif also stood up to follow. But at the corner, she encountered Queen Frigga and quickly said,

"My apologies… about your son—"

Frigga didn't say much. She simply took Sif's hands and asked,

"What's wrong with Thor?"

Sif lowered her voice.

"He's mourning his brother… and longing for a mortal woman on Midgard."

Frigga nodded at the answer without further comment.

Thor, meanwhile, left the banquet hall and found Odin.

Looking at the ruined Bifröst, Odin sensed his son's arrival and said,

"You will be a wise king."

Thor replied,

"No one is a wiser king, nor a more perfect father, than you.

I have much to learn, and now I understand that.

Perhaps one day, I'll make you proud."

Odin smiled at this and turned toward him, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"You already make me proud."

As Odin prepared to leave, Thor spoke his real reason for coming.

"Father, when I was on Midgard, I heard of a treasure there… something that might be able to bring Loki back."

Odin frowned slightly.

"Thor, you should know that even with our Asgardian bodies, the chances of surviving after falling into the cosmic abyss are extremely low — perhaps zero."

Thor nodded.

"I know, Father. But this treasure on Midgard is different. It has a special power."

Seeing the determination in Thor's eyes, Odin asked,

"Tell me about this treasure, and why it gives you such confidence."

Thor said,

"On Midgard, there's a treasure called the Dragon Balls — seven in total. When all seven are gathered, they summon a divine dragon who can grant the summoner a single wish. Any wish… including reviving Loki."

Odin's brows furrowed. He had never heard of such an artifact existing on Midgard. A being that could grant any wish… such arrogance. Could this "divine dragon" be an embodiment of Eternity itself?

"Thor, where did you hear of this treasure?"

Thor then told his father about Darcy Lewis and how she had obtained a Dragon Ball.
