When Dragon Balls Descend Upon Marvel

Chapter 255: Bulma’s New Job — Repairing the Destroyer

Listening to Smith Dole's explanation, Bulma's eyes filled with curiosity as she studied the pile of material before her. She then asked,

"If this Destroyer is so powerful, why is it in this state now?"

Smith Dole smiled and replied,

"That was Thor, the son of Odin. He smashed this thing to pieces with a single hammer blow."

He then went on to share his theories, as well as the story of the two brothers, Thor and Loki.

After hearing it, Bulma was astonished.

"The royal family's parenting doesn't seem all that great. Clearly what Loki needed was care and affection. And honestly… he just sounds like he's going through a rebellious phase."

Smith Dole chuckled and nodded.

"Yeah, something like that.

Otherwise, we wouldn't have gotten these Destroyer fragments at all. I've collected as many as possible.

From my intel, the Destroyer this time might not have even used one ten-thousandth of its true power. Bulma, see if you can find a way to repair it — or use the materials for something else.

If there's no good solution, you can bring Ivan Vanko into the project. If reforged, these materials would make an excellent whiplash suit."

Bulma rested her chin in her hand, thinking.

"If it's really as amazing as you say, reforging it into a suit would be the most wasteful option.

But if it's tied to gods and divine power, repairing it won't be simple.

Fortunately, Melina and I have just figured out a way to turn William back from a werewolf into his original form. So I do have some time now to study this Destroyer."

Hearing that Bulma and Melina had found a cure for William piqued Smith Dole's curiosity.

"William's been a werewolf for over a thousand years, and you can still bring him back?"

Bulma nodded.

"He can return to human form, but the situation isn't great.

All those centuries, his mind was locked in a feral, irrational state. Now, as a human, he's like a newborn — no memories at all. Marcus is taking care of his younger brother personally."

Smith Dole said,

"As long as he's human again, that's enough. It fulfills Marcus's wish, and now he can focus on looking after him."

Bulma nodded again, then turned her gaze to the Destroyer fragments. She picked up a small piece and began testing it.

Seeing her engrossed in work, Smith Dole left the lab without disturbing her.

New Mexico.

With the dark clouds finally dispersed and no further anomalies, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Coulson brought Jane Foster, Darcy Lewis, and Erik Selvig to a temporary base.

The moment Jane stepped out of the car, she asked,

"Can I have my equipment and research notes back now?"

Coulson wore his usual friendly smile.

"Miss Foster, once we've made backups, we'll return everything to you. It won't take long.

But before that, we'd like you to tell us about the man with the hammer who flew away — claiming to be Odin's son — and his companions.

They arrived suddenly, and left just as abruptly. We need to know more about them."

Even with Smith Dole's account, Coulson wasn't about to rely on a single source. He needed Jane's version to confirm its accuracy.

At his question about Thor, the three fell silent for a moment before Jane spoke up.

"Thor told us about his identity, but I can't be sure it was all true.

Still, they were extraordinary."

Coulson tilted his head.

"Thor Odinson?"

Jane nodded.

"Yes, that's his full name. He was the one who destroyed the metal monster and saved us — our hero.

According to him, he's from Asgard, son of Odin, the god-king.

He arrived with his companions: Lady Sif and the Warriors Three — Fandral, Volstagg, and Hogun.

The one they fought was Thor's brother, Loki."

Coulson realized her story matched Smith Dole's exactly. They really were the Norse gods. He pulled out a book of Norse mythology, flipping to the page on Thor.

"How does the Thor from the myths differ from the one you met?"

Jane recalled how Dr. Erik had used a similar book to argue with her two days ago.

"They're not the same, but there are many similarities.

Poets change details — relationships, background — to suit their own interpretations. For example, the myths call Loki Thor's uncle, but in reality, he's his brother.

They really did visit Earth over a thousand years ago, leaving behind the legends we know today.

To the people back then, they were nothing short of gods."

Darcy chimed in,

"They still are. These are people who've been around for over a thousand years.

Thor even destroyed that giant metal thing that not even God could break."

Her comment drew silence from the room. After all, Smith Dole was considered the "god among men" — the ultimate peak of human physical power — standing alongside Tony Stark, the pinnacle of technology. Yet the monster he couldn't kill, Thor had smashed apart with two hammer strikes.

After a brief pause, Coulson said,

"Thank you for everything. Once the backups are done, I'll have your things returned."

Jane smiled.

"Please make it quick."

In truth, she was already thinking about her divine boyfriend. Just a word from him had made S.H.I.E.L.D. hand back her research and equipment. If they knew she was Thor's girlfriend, who knew how much more respectful they'd be? She also couldn't help wondering — she hadn't been with Thor in his godly form yet… would it be different?

Once he'd sent the three off, Coulson left Sitwell to handle cleanup and boarded a plane back to New York.
