When Dragon Balls Descend Upon Marvel

Chapter 252: Collecting the Fragments

Coulson finally arrived, looking a mess. Seeing Thor chatting and laughing with Jane and the others — and having witnessed him smash the Destroyer with a single strike — he immediately turned to Jane and said:

"Sorry."

Walking up to Thor, Coulson said,

"Donald, you didn't tell me the truth."

Thor met his gaze and revealed his identity.

"I am the son of Odin. We fight for the same purpose — to protect this world."

"From today on, as long as you return Jane's belongings, you can consider me your ally."

Hearing how simple it was to gain this man's friendship, Coulson was overjoyed.

"They were only borrowed. Of course I can return them. Jane Foster can continue her research."

Jane's face lit up with a smile at Coulson's words.

Thor turned to her.

"Want to see the Rainbow Bridge?"

"Of course."

Thor scooped Jane into his arms, lifted Mjolnir, and took off into the sky.

"Wait! I still need to question you!" Coulson called after them.

But Thor ignored him and flew away.

He carried Jane to the Rainbow Bridge's landing site. Soon after, other Asgardians arrived.

"Heimdall!"

Thor looked up at the sky and called, but there was no response. He glanced back at Jane awkwardly.

"Heimdall! If you can hear me, we need you."

At that moment, Heimdall was frozen at the gate, two Frost Giants standing nearby. But at Thor's call, the ice began to crack under his struggle.

Once free, Heimdall immediately cleaved down the two Frost Giant guards, then used the last of his strength to open the Bifröst and bring everyone back to Asgard — before collapsing unconscious.

Smith Dole, meanwhile, paid no mind to Coulson or the other agents. He went straight to collecting the Destroyer's fragments. With his system space, he simply stored them away, unconcerned whether the agents saw this ability.

Coulson and Sitwell watched in shock as the fragments vanished. Sitwell adjusted his cracked glasses and asked,

"Coulson, did you see where he put those pieces?"

"That iron giant was taller than a two-story building, and the power it showed just now… it's got enormous research value."

Coulson nodded, then asked flatly,

"You daring enough to go ask for them?"

Sitwell chuckled.

"He's the Inspector General. Let the Director handle it."

Soon, Smith had collected every fragment and stored them in his system space.

When he returned, Coulson and Sitwell kept silent about the armor and instead Coulson asked,

"Inspector General, this son of Odin — who is he exactly?"

Seeing they were tactful enough not to press about the Destroyer's remains, Smith said,

"The God-King Odin from Norse mythology — you've heard of him, I assume?"

Coulson nodded.

"I've heard a little: Odin the All-Father, his brother the trickster and fire god Loki, and his son, Thor the God of Thunder."

Smith corrected him.

"The gods in Norse mythology are real. In 965 AD they came to Earth and helped stop the Frost Giants' invasion — that's how their legends began."

"And Loki isn't Thor's uncle — he's his younger brother. That hammer you've been studying? It's Thor's Mjolnir."

Coulson and the others were stunned — not just that the Norse gods were real, but that the ancient League of Assassins held such secret knowledge. Even S.H.I.E.L.D., who already knew aliens existed, had never heard of Asgard until today.

Smith then gave them a brief introduction to Asgard.

Meanwhile, in Asgard…

Loki led Laufey and several Frost Giants to Odin's sleeping chamber.

Frigga saw frost forming on the door and walls and immediately realized intruders had come. Drawing the sword by her bed, she prepared to fight.

The frost-covered doors opened, and the Frost Giant King entered with one of his men. Frigga struck the intruder down instantly.

Enraged, Laufey swatted Frigga aside, then approached the sleeping Odin. Pulling open Odin's eyes, he said,

"I hear you can still see and hear everything around you."

"I hope that's true."

"Then you'll know your death came by Laufey's hand."

Odin's spirit had already returned to Asgard, watching everything unfold — ready to strike back.

Inwardly, he thought: Loki, don't disappoint me.

Just as Laufey formed an ice blade to finish Odin, Loki struck with Gungnir, blasting the unprepared Frost Giant King across the room.

"And you," Loki declared, "will die at the hands of the son of Odin."

Laufey stared in disbelief. He was Loki's biological father — Loki had brought him into Asgard, only to betray him.

Before he could react, Loki poured his full power into Gungnir, unleashing a devastating blast that reduced the already-injured Laufey to nothing.

Frigga, regaining consciousness, rushed to embrace him.

"Loki, you saved him."

"I swear, Mother — they will all pay."

Before Loki could say more, Thor arrived.

"Loki."

Frigga's eyes lit up.

"Thor! I knew you'd return."

She embraced her elder son, while Loki's face darkened.

As Thor approached, Loki backed away, gripping Gungnir.

"Why don't you tell Mother you sent the Destroyer to kill my friends and me?"

"What?" Frigga gasped.

"It was following Father's final orders," Loki claimed.

"Brother," Thor said, "you've always been a master liar."

But Loki cut him off.

"You're back — good. I'm going to wipe out Jotunheim."
