Chapter 251: Makōhō (Demon Light Penetrating Killing Cannon)
Hearing his words work, Thor let out a breath of relief, a small smile appearing on his lips. It seemed his brother still loved him after all.
Under Loki's control, the Destroyer was about to leave — but in Asgard, Loki's mind drifted to the fact that he and Thor were not true brothers by blood. He thought of their father Odin's favoritism toward Thor, and the more he dwelled on it, the angrier he became.
Without warning, Loki had the Destroyer slap Thor. Even though Loki controlled the strength, the blow still sent Thor flying.
Seeing Thor hurled through the air, Jane shouted, "No!" and ran toward him.
Thor looked at her rushing over and smiled.
"It's over."
Jane shook her head.
"No, it's not."
"You're safe now."
"It's over!"
With those words, Thor passed out.
Through the Destroyer's eyes, Loki glanced at Thor. He knew that even without his godly powers, Thor's physique wouldn't let him die from such a strike. Turning away, he prepared to end the farce.
The Destroyer walked toward the location of the Bifröst's arrival point.
Jane and the others, however, believed Thor to be dead.
Hidden in the void, Odin watched Smith Dole, clearly seeing that he was charging up for a finishing move.
Recalling Thor's behavior on Earth, Odin decided the boy had grown. Without hesitation, he lifted Thor's seal.
As the seal was removed, Mjolnir responded immediately, soaring into the air toward Thor.
Dr. Selvig saw the hammer streaking through the sky and realized the danger, quickly pulling Jane out of the way.
Smith Dole, spotting Mjolnir, understood instantly — Odin was paving the road for his son, putting on a show. But by now, his Makōhō (Demon Light Penetrating Killing Cannon) was fully charged.
Mjolnir reached Thor's hand, and lightning struck from the sky. Thor's armor, stripped by Odin, returned to him in an instant.
Bathed in lightning, Thor drew the attention of the departing Destroyer.
Watching this scene, Loki's face darkened. As expected, Odin's beloved child was Thor. All the "sealing" and "banishment" had been lies.
Was it all because I'm not his blood son?
At that moment, Smith Dole's preparation was complete. His combat power surged to a terrifying 4,290 — enough to wipe out a metropolis if fired at the ground, more destructive than any Tsar Bomba, the equivalent of 50 nuclear warheads. Only a heavy-yield nuke could match its force.
"Makōhō!"
A purple beam surrounded by a spiraling column of light erupted from Smith Dole's fingertips, shooting toward the Destroyer's chest.
In an instant, the devastating energy reached its target, drilling straight through the Destroyer's chest plate.
The beam's spiraling penetration left an even larger hole in its back. Everyone's faces lit up with joy, convinced the battle was won.
Even in Asgard, Loki was stunned — this Midgardian had broken through the Destroyer's defenses.
But the next second, the Destroyer's extinguished core reignited, and under the blessing of divine runes, its pierced chest restored itself as if nothing had happened.
Smith Dole's expression soured. Odin really would stop at nothing to stage the perfect scene for his son. Every time Smith damaged the Destroyer, it regenerated. He even considered throwing an artificial moon into the sky and going Great Ape to try smashing it — but he knew that if he did, Odin would let the Destroyer unleash its full power, becoming a weapon capable of rivaling the Celestials.
Smith gave a complex look at the now-restored God of Thunder, then abandoned the idea of transforming.
In Asgard, Loki's joy over the Destroyer's recovery was gone.
"No — my plan must continue. If I kill the Frost Giant King and destroy Jotunheim, I will earn as much honor as Thor, loved by all, and finally gain Father's approval."
Determination filled his face.
Seeing Thor's change, Sif and the Warriors Three smiled. Jane gasped.
"Oh my god!"
Loki had the Destroyer attack again, but Thor hurled Mjolnir, knocking it to the ground. He then flew skyward, summoning a storm that lifted the Destroyer into the air, and slammed Mjolnir into its head.
Boom!
With a thunderous roar, the Destroyer exploded.
Everyone was stunned by Thor's might — the indestructible Destroyer, even God couldn't break, was smashed to pieces by a single blow.
Only Smith Dole's expression remained conflicted. That strike from Thor? He could have caught it barehanded without needing a Kamehameha or Makōhō. The storm and lightning were even less impressive.
In the void between realms, Odin clutched his chest. To give his son this moment, he had secretly shut down all of the Destroyer's energy and made it willingly disassemble — otherwise Thor's hammer wouldn't have even broken its guard.
In Asgard, Odin's true body shed a tear at the loss of the Destroyer's armor.
Thor walked over to Smith Dole.
"You're strong. Thank you for your help."
Smith sensed nothing of Odin's interference and wasn't sure what to make of the soon-to-retire All-Father. He shook Thor's offered hand.
"I'm Smith Dole."
"I'm Thor Odinson."
"I know you — the God of Thunder of Asgard."
Thor smiled at the recognition.
"You should visit Asgard sometime. For now, I need to deal with my unruly brother."
Jane ran up, marveling at Thor.
"This is your usual look?"
Thor glanced at Jane Foster, the woman he liked, and smiled.
"Something like that."
"It's very handsome."
Thor turned to his friends.
"Let's head to the Bifröst. I have words for my brother."
