When Dragon Balls Descend Upon Marvel

Chapter 253: Planet-Killer Weapon

After speaking, Loki, not wanting Thor to interfere, immediately fired a blast from Gungnir at him. He didn't put much divine power into it — just enough to hurl Thor out of the bedchamber without causing serious harm.

With the obstacle removed, Loki mounted a horse and raced toward the Bifröst.

Upon reaching the bridge, he quickly aligned it toward Jotunheim. The Bifröst wasn't merely a means of transportation — it was also a planet-killer. Increase its power enough, and it could obliterate an entire world with ease.

As the bridge activated, a massive beam of energy slammed into Jotunheim. The ground shattered, and countless Frost Giants died instantly.

Thor, wielding Mjolnir, flew over just in time to see the Bifröst at full power and the controls frozen solid. He knew stopping it would be no simple task.

While reinforcing the ice around the controls, Loki said,

"You can't stop it. The Bifröst won't cease until Jotunheim is gone."

Thor moved to smash the ice, but Loki struck him with Gungnir, sending him flying.

Standing back up, Thor asked,

"Why are you doing this?"

Loki didn't hesitate.

"To prove to Father that I'm a worthy son. When he wakes, I'll save his life."

"I'll destroy the Frost Giants and truly inherit the throne."

"You can't slaughter an entire race and wipe Jotunheim from existence," Thor said firmly.

Loki laughed in disbelief. Not long ago, his brother had stormed into Jotunheim with a few companions, killing giants left and right, boasting about exterminating their race.

"Why not? Suddenly you've developed compassion for the Frost Giants?"

"You could crush them all with your bare hands."

Thor's expression was serious. "I've changed."

"So have I!" Loki retorted, then jabbed Thor in the face with Gungnir and taunted,

"Come on, fight me."

When Thor refused, Loki used the spear like a staff and knocked him flat.

"I never wanted the throne," Loki said bitterly. "I just wanted to be your equal."

"Brother, I will not fight you."

"I'm not your brother. I never was."

"Loki, you're talking madness."

"Madness? Is it? You went to Earth and came back soft. Don't tell me it's because of that woman."

Thor's silence told him everything.

"So… once this is over, maybe I'll pay her a visit myself."

That was enough to ignite Thor's fury. He charged with Mjolnir, and Loki met him head-on with Gungnir.

Wielding the Eternal Spear, Loki became a deadly close-combat mage, clashing fiercely with Thor. Blow for blow, he held his ground — even landing several solid hits.

Elsewhere.

After Smith Dole departed, Coulson directed the remaining agents to handle the cleanup, then pulled out his phone to report to Nick Fury.

"Director, things have changed significantly here. I need to brief you."

"The identity of Item 084 has been confirmed — it's Mjolnir, from Norse mythology. Thor, its true owner, has reclaimed it."

"Thor's brother Loki sent an iron giant to stop him from returning. During that time, it engaged in a fierce battle with Smith Dole. Smith's combat power exceeded 500 points, and he fought the giant to a standstill. Thor finally destroyed it with a single strike."

"But Smith took all the fragments. The giant's power and technology far surpass Tony Stark's Iron Man suits, and it operates in unmanned, remote-control mode."

"Norse mythology intel came from Smith Dole himself. He confirmed that over a thousand years ago, the Norse gods came to Earth to help repel an alien invasion. I'll submit the detailed report in writing."

Fury was surprised. The Asgardian connection was bigger than expected. He'd have to confirm with his wife whether this godly realm was as famous as Smith claimed.

"Coulson, that advanced — or mystical — giant… Smith took every piece?"

"Not a scrap left. All of it's gone," Coulson confirmed.

Fury frowned.

"That's not acceptable. We need at least some of it for research. I'll send someone to negotiate."

"Do we have combat footage of Smith and the giant? And what about Thor's strength?"

"The power detector exploded on-site. Thor's level is likely higher, but we only had one device, so no recording. I'll include all details in my written report."

"Fine. I'll see you back at HQ," Fury said, ending the call.

Leaning back, he thought about how deeply the League of Assassins' intelligence network ran — deeper than he had imagined. They had preserved knowledge from over a millennium ago and treated it as fact, not myth.

Even for a man who had witnessed plenty and married an alien, the Asgardians were new to him. He knew about extraterrestrial life — like the Kree, who had hunted the Skrulls — but not this pantheon.

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s infiltration of the League had made little progress. Their agents couldn't get close to the core, and all they knew was that the League had gathered a number of superhuman operatives for their Assassin Brotherhood.

Even Smith Dole's origins were a mystery. His file was filled with vague, mythic-sounding terms like "heaven-sent" and "divine gift."
