Chapter 631: Arms Trade Ambush
Huh… The route we were given really ensured we were out of the public's eye it seems… This guy definitely knows what he's doing.
We were given a route that moved through sections of the station that were devoid of any people and there was just enough space for us and the cargo drones to transport the boxes of weapons that we were selling to Feng.
Following me this time was Yumiko, Renata and Ries, my Maochatte only joining us as the controller of the drones.
The others were told to follow us at a further distance away so they will be our backup in case something unexpected happens so that we don't reveal all our cards right away.
Since this was still early morning, most of the people in the station should be on their way to work right now and I could hear the clamour of footfalls overhead which meant we must be underneath a street right now.
I believe this corridor that we were currently walking through must belong to some 'underground' network of tunnels belonging to these gangs to smuggle their stuff around the station.
Without the map that Feng had given us, we would have most likely have found ourselves lost here.
We finally reached the end of one of the tunnels and we reached a slope that ended at a trapdoor which I pushed to realise that it was unlocked.
When I climbed out, I realised that it was some kind of restaurant that had been closed down before it got ransacked or something and the place we climbed out was this place's kitchen.
There was already a guy waiting there with cybernetic arms that had biceps thicker than my neck.
The entire place was dark and he was holding the only light that looked like an electric lantern that lit up the area around him.
He frowned at me, "You lost, girl?"
"We're the ones your boss is looking for."
He narrowed his eyes slightly, "Where's the stuff?"
"Behind me."
"Hmm… Come up. Slowly."
I did as he asked and the cargo drone followed behind me, appearing from within the hole with the crate loaded on it.
He raised his hand for a moment which I'm guessing was some kind of signal to show that I was clear before beckoning to me, "Get the rest out of there and follow me."
He spun on his heel and started marching towards the sitting area of the restaurant.
Ries and Yumiko climbed out from the tunnel with Renata taking the rear, the cargo drones spread out evenly between each of them.
When we got to the sitting area, there was another group of people standing around the area that had been cleared of all tables and chairs.
It looked like someone had decided to rip up all the tables from where they had been stuck to the ground to toss them in a pile at a corner.
The front of the store also had been boarded up with metal plates haphazardly welded onto the windows and doors which plunged the interior of the restaurant into darkness. The only source of light being a single light bulb at the centre of the room.
I took a moment to look at everyone and frowned, "Are you supposed to be Feng's men? Where is he?"
One guy stepped out from the shadows, this one even bigger than the one that I met in the kitchen with all his limbs being cybernetics.
He was wearing a large trench coat with the sleeves ripped out which I suspect was more because he couldn't fit his arms through the sleeves than an attempt at some kind of fashion.
"Boss is busy. We're here to do business in his place. Have you got the goods?" He asked.
"How do we know you guys are who you say you are? Maybe you're from another gang?"
The large sized man pulled out his personal terminal and laid it on his palm, prompting a screen to be projected into the air.
The screen showed Feng sitting in a chair with his fingers steepled together as if he had been expecting the call to happen at this exact time.
"Ah, hello. I see you managed to find your way here without any issues. You can rest assured that these are my people and you can trust them. The person holding the personal terminal is my right hand man and I've given him the authority to decide how this trade will go. Any problems with that?"
I shook my head, "Not at all."
He nodded, "Then I'll leave it to him."
The screen shut off and the trench coat guy stuffed the personal terminal back in his trench coat before he gestured at the boxes, "Let's see them."
I turned to Ries and nodded.
She tapped on her personal terminal and the drones moved in front of me to deposit the boxes on the ground.
I then went over to open one of the boxes to reveal its contents and I could tell the other thugs that were surrounding us were a little nervous for some reason.
It's like they were expecting us to kill all of them or something, even if it looks like they outnumber us right now.
I wasn't even wearing Power Armour either so I wonder why they were so nervous.
The trenchcoat guy stepped up to the box and peered inside to check its contents before he motioned for someone else at the side to come forward.
The guy quickly jogged over and pulled out his personal terminal and the screen popped up to show a list of weapons.
This guy must be in charge of making sure everything I brought here matched the list I had sent Feng.
All of us watched as he stared at the box for a moment before he went over to the next one to open it up to stare at it as well.
Err… I'm assuming he's counting the guns inside the crate or something? No wait, his eyes look like they are cybernetic too. He's probably scanning them with his eyes which automatically calculate the number of guns in the boxes.
That's quite useful… But I'm not that keen about digging my own eyes out to replace them with cybernetics.
All of us waited silently as he went to each of the boxes to check the contents which honestly felt a bit awkward but I didn't want to say anything either.
When he was finally done, he gave the trenchcoat guy a nod which prompted him to turn back to me.
"Two million for all of them."
Oh? I was actually planning to open with that price since there's more guns here than the ones I sold to the other gang.
But since he's opening with that price, I think I can push for a little bit more.
"Two point two million."
"Done."
Huh…. That was fast. I guess this guy is the no nonsense type or something?
Not like I'm going to complain of course.
He pulled out a Credit Chip and handed it over to me without even checking it. Which meant that the Credit Chip had already been pre-loaded with that amount of money even before he took it out.
Did he already expect to pay that amount of money from the beginning?
I took it and stuck it in my Codex and ensured that the agreed amount was indeed loaded inside and sure enough, I was credited with two million and two hundred thousand Credits.
I nodded at the girls and turned back to the trench coat guy, "Good doing business with you."
He sniffed at me and said nothing so I guess that was our cue now to turn around and lea--
There was a loud crash as the front part of the restaurant that had been welded closed with steel plates suddenly exploded inwards, blowing anyone that had been unfortunate enough to stand there flying away.
Everyone turned to look in the direction of the explosion to see a guy around the size of the trenchcoat guy standing there with his fist outstretched.
Calling him a guy is even too much of a stretch given the fact that his entire body pretty much looks robotic and even his head was mostly replaced with cybernetics.
This guy basically looked like he modded himself to become an actual Power Armour himself.
He retracted his arm and several more thugs appeared from behind him to jump through the hole he made to start shooting at the people inside.
"What the fuck?" I couldn't help but cry out.
The trenchcoat guy growled, "Fucking Scavs! Open fire!"
The other thugs also started shooting at the newcomers and I ran back to my girls, pulling out my gun in the process to prepare to defend us.
I was thinking if we should just make a break for the kitchen and escape out of here since we already got the money when the wall on the far side of the kitchen also exploded open, revealing another guy that looks just like the first guy who busted the front of the restaurant in.
Well… I guess we all know who these people belong to…
