Tch… So as we have guessed, they decided to attack during the trade.

I took cover behind one of the walls and flicked the safety off my shotgun.

I quickly dialled Amber's number which was answered within a single ring, "Amber? Girls? Where are you all?"

"Oh! Is it time for us to show up?!"

"No, just wanted to check if anything has happened on your side. We're getting attacked as we predicted but we should be able to handle it. Just be ready in case anything unexpected happens."

"You got it! Just call again and I'll rush to you immediately!"

I hung up the call and breathed out.

"Well… I guess we're really doing this huh?" I muttered, taking a moment to peek around to make mental notes on where everyone was.

Ries and Yumiko also pulled out their rifles while Renata was the only one who was unarmed.

I nodded at them and we leapt into action.

Since we weren't sure if Feng's men would treat us as one of these guys, I decided to focus our fire on the ones that broke through the kitchen wall instead.

I jumped in and fired at the first thug I saw, the poor guy getting an entire shotgun blast in the chest which sent him flying back to crash into the wall.

The others dove for cover but my girls quickly rained down fire on them, filling the air with lead which took out two more of those thugs.

We had to take cover as the ones that managed to hide started shooting back at us and we ducked behind the doorway as bullets zipped past the spaces we had been occupying just a moment ago.

While we were taking cover, I found that the trench coat guy seemed to have gotten himself into a fist fight with one of the big guys that broke down the wall.

Both of them were trading blows with each other and their cybernetic limbs seemed to be punching with enough force to break through concrete yet they were taking each other's punches with little to no reactions.

Although it looks like the trenchcoat guy at least have some experience with fighting hand to hand as he does parry and block attacks while the other guy seemed to just be relying on his cybernetic enhancements to deal and take damage without a care.

I then heard a loud crash coming from within the kitchen and I peeked to see the second large guy ripping out one of the food processor machines from the wall before turning towards the doorway.

"Shit! Move!" I shouted, scurrying away from the wall just as the machine was thrown at us.

The girls scattered under my command right before the machine crashed through the wall and flew to the other side of the room, smashing itself against a thug that had been unfortunate enough to be standing there.

I fired a shot at the big guy but the pellets were rendered useless by a shield that materialised in front of him, dealing no damage.

No wonder the two guys were fighting each other using fists…

I switched my targets to the thugs instead, firing a few shots at the ones that were hiding and scoring a headshot on one while sending the others ducking for cover again.

The others were also taking potshots into the kitchen from time to time, lighting the room up with flashes of gunfire.

That was when I noticed that Renata had stood up to start walking towards the fully cybernetically modded guy in the kitchen without fear, her maid uniform seemingly shifting to a more tighter fit as her skirt also lengthened to hide her feet.

Err… What is this eldritch maid planning to do?

A few of the thugs shifted their aim to fire at her, only to stare in confusion as the kinetic projectiles were absorbed into her body without leaving a mark.

I wonder what would happen if it was an energy based weapon but none of them were using that.

She strolled towards the bigger guy and he recognised it as a challenge.

He stomped over to Renata as she calmly advanced towards him as well, completely ignoring everyone else that was in the kitchen.

The big guy raised his fist and punched down at Renata with full force, clearly intending to smash her into the ground.

Renata raised her hand casually and the fist smashed into her palm with a resounding bang.

The floor underneath Renata's feet cracked but she did not move even an inch back from her position.

I couldn't tell what the big guy's emotions were since even his face was replaced with a metal face plate that hid most of his face but I'm pretty sure he was quite confused how the girl smaller than he was could stop his punch so casually.

Renata's arm then shifted to turn into grey tendrils that wrapped around the arm of the guy she caught.

Without so much as a warning, she tightened her grip on him and the arm was snapped off from the shoulder, detaching the limb entirely from that guy.

The guy was so surprised that he took a few steps back while staring at where his arm used to be, only to turn and see Renata absorbing the cybernetic arm into her body and returning the tendrils back into the shape of her own arm.

The larger guy let out a roar and leapt towards Renata, his other fist attempting another punch at her from the side.

This time, Renata countered it with a backhanded slap towards his wrist, the impact of it smashing against the cybernetic limb and sending mechanical parts flying away as the attack was deflected.

She then pulled back her hand before thrusting forward, her fingers piercing through the supposedly armoured body of the larger guy like it was made of paper.

Grey tendrils then exploded out from his back and started wrapping around his body including his neck, the tendrils then slowly tightening and crushing everything that they were wrapped around.

The guy then started making gurgling sounds before electricity sparked off his body and the light in his eyes flickered and died.

Renata then retracted the tendrils to pull out her arm, letting the guy fall onto the ground with a loud thud.

Yumiko clucked her tongue, "Tsk… If I had my blade, they would be cut down easily…"

No need to be jealous, Yumiko… We're going to get your sword after this anyway.

The other thugs started to panic after they finally realised what happened.

"What the fuck is that?!"

"What the hell did she do?!"

"That thing cannot be human!!"

Most of them started shooting at Renata but none of their attacks were working of course, since she was literally just absorbing all their bullets.

Some of them even decided to turn tail to run away so Ries, Yumiko and I prioritised them, shooting them down from behind before they can reach the hole.

Renata then leapt into the air and started dashing through the kitchens, her form occasionally illuminated by the flash of gunshots as she went around slicing through the thugs with her transformed arms without mercy.

It honestly looked like a horror scene as you would see her flying through the air in one flash and the next flash would show her perched on top of a thug holding his decapitated head in her hand. Then another flash will show her gone from there and reappearing behind another thug with her hand pieced through his chest.

It only took about a minute more before everyone in that room was dead aside for Renata, the eldritch maid returning to my side with nary a hair out of place and looking refreshed.

On the other side, however, it seems like Feng's men managed to repel the thugs as they retreated through the opening while the trench coat guy was beating down on the face of the other big guy as he held him down.

We watched as he smashed his fist into the other guy's face again before growling, "Who told you that we would be here?!"

The larger guy seemed to want to say something, only to raise its fist to try and punch the trench coat guy again.

That seemed to have worn out his patience as he dodged the punch before smashing his fist down on the big thug to shatter his head into pieces.

He then slowly got up before turning to us, his eyes narrowing at us.

"Don't suppose you're the one who led them here?"

I gestured at us, "Does it look like we were the ones who led them here? I should be asking if this wasn't a trap to begin with."

"Hmph… That's a nice excuse but we wouldn't know if your aim was to take us all out after you get the money so you can steal back the guns you sold us. Stay right there, I'm going to make some calls."

Tsk… Well whatever, as long as he's not trying to kill us.
