CH161-Struggle.
As Samael finally woke up, he was greeted by a wooden ceiling along with the light of a lamp on his right. Lying down there motionless for a while, he remembered the events that happened before he passed out.
However, he doesn't remember getting here.
Sitting down, Samael felt his body to find there was no real damage done. It seems Elyra had taken care of it.
Looking around, the room was currently empty, but there were people outside. To be precise, Nova, his wife, and Ajax.
Welcome back, boss! You've been knocked out for 8 hours!
8 hours? That's a lot shorter than I thought.
Well, I'm just that good.
A chuckle escaped Samael's lips as he just nodded his head.
Regardless, boss, you've only completed 1 out of the 8 attempts. That was simply the beginning.
A sigh escaped Samael's lips. He was already dreading what's coming next. However, there was no denying how effective it truly was.
At first, he thought it would only increase his control proficiency, but with how intense the effects of the reversal were, it also impacted his purity meter.
Currently, his control meter was at 10%, while his Void purity was somewhere near with 8% on it.
Samael's attention was soon taken as he began to feel Nova's presence go closer.
As the door of the room opened, the man took a peek. "You're awake."
Samael nodded as he rose up from his bed. "What happened? Did you guys bring me here?"
"Yes, had to drag your limp, unconscious body. Do you know the amount of weird stares we got, dragging along a bloodied man?" Nova grimaced as he sat down with a sigh. "So, care to tell me what the hell that was?"
"What's what?" Samael shifted his gaze out the window. It was in the middle of the afternoon.
"You know what I mean." Nova leaned forward. "What was that entire fiasco back at the training grounds?"
Samael stared blankly at the man for a whole minute. "Training."
Nova sighed. "Training? Really? You think I'd believe that? It almost looked like you were tortured, so make a better excuse than that."
Samael shrugged. "It was training, and I'm not lying about it."
Nova's brows furrowed. There were no micro changes in Samael's expression, so either he wasn't lying or he was just that good. "Then what kind of training was it?"
Looking over the map framed on the wall, Samael's gaze narrowed. "I reversed my essence flow and maximised flow."
"WHAT?!" Nova roared as he bolted up, nearly throwing the table he was leaning on as his voice boomed in the room. "Are you insane?!"
Samael sighed. He knew this was going to happen. "I succeeded, didn't I?"
"That's not the point! Do you know how dangerous that procedure is?! It has an 86% mortality rate! And how did you even come up with this method, and for why?" Nova fired one after the other.
Scratching his head, Samael just gave up. "My dunamis isn't normal, okay? If I used the method you taught us, it would take me months to finish this training. With what I did, I may only need 8 days."
"If you're still alive by then!" Nova crumpled his fists as he hissed in exasperation. Lowering his hands, he exhaled deeply. "Also, what do you mean there's something wrong about your Dunamis?"
Nova approached the boy as he touched his back to check.
Samael cast a sidelong glance. Nova wasn't going to find anything; the Void was too protective.
"I don't see anything wrong? In fact, I don't see anything!" Nova scratched his head as he tried multiple times. "This doesn't even make sense! How can you channel elemental energy without a Dunamis?"
"No, I do have something. As you've said, it won't make sense to channel my element without a core. It's just... different," Samael muttered as he turned to the man. "Don't worry about it. I know what I am doing. These are calculated risks."
Nova looked the boy straight in the eye as he just waved his hand. "Fine. But if you die, don't blame it on me!"
Samael chuckled. "Don't worry; I got this covered. Something else does interest me, though."
Nova looked at Samael as his brows raised. "Hm? What's that?"
Samael shifted his attention back to the map. "You have an entire map of Ergo here, and it piqued my interest again."
"What did?" Nova looked at the map.
Samael focused his eyes on the mountain ranges north. "We all know that the Kakia mountain ranges are filled with abominations, and it was discovered recently how these fell flowers were the cause of it all. Don't you think..."
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
"Is that one there?" Nova asked as Samael nodded in return. "Yeah, there's definitely one. But Icarius hasn't done anything because not only is it far and too dangerous to enter, but there is no real method to finding them yet."
"But I can." Samael looked at the man.
"We know, but did you really think we were going to send our one trump card against these beasts into the literal kill zone?" Nova shook his head.
Samael nodded his head. It made sense; he was the only person who could close the rifts. If even Icarius was careful around that area, then that only means there are foes there that may prove too dangerous to fight.
That being said, the same cannot be mentioned for Pillari.
The place was basically one big snowstorm based on what Icarius told him before. Sure, there were a few creatures here and there, but never rifts. Meaning...
The animations there were most likely wandering creatures.
Many speculated that maybe the reason for the lack of abominations was because of the intense snowstorm, rendering any life incapable of surviving in such harsh climates.
However, Samael cannot help but feel curious about what those towering mountains were hiding.
Samael spent the rest of his afternoon mostly resting. He also took a stroll across town and met a few locals.
When the second day came, Samael began another harrowing trial as he completed the second stage. Like yesterday, he was left in a puddle of blood within the training grounds.
Once he awoke from his short coma, Samael began to experiment further with his new entrokinesis.
As Elyra mentioned, there was no more real assistance from the system. Meaning, it became a more innate trait to wield one's element.
Standing in the centre of the training grounds, Samael exhaled as he took a stance. Tightening his fist, he felt the essence within him circulate as his hands and feet formed a thin, solidified armour of void matter.
It would have been Void augmentation if the Codex still existed.
Oddly enough, manipulating the elements on his own accord felt a lot more natural; it was akin to breathing.
Looking at Nova on the other side, he charged as the battle began. Sending dust back as he blitzed dead ahead.
With his newfound speed, Samael was astonished with how fast he closed the distance. Almost feeling a little jarred by how fast he accelerated.
Taking advantage of this, Nova's body began to accelerate as he glided forward, his fist launching towards Samael.
Reacting fast, Samael raised his hand as a circular Void aegis formed. As the two collided, a loud boom exploded in the air as the shield retracted before pushing back, releasing a kinetic purple shockwave.
But Nova was faster as he pushed his palm forward, generating a slow shockwave that slowed down Samael's retaliation.
Samael's eyes widened in fascination as he watched the purple wave get slowed enough that even a mundane person could probably see it.
With the attack halted, Nova slid out of the way as he sent a plethora of green orbs towards Samael.
Seeing this, Samael condensed the Void matter on his fingertips as it fired off in a highly pressurised straight line.
Whipping his hand back and forth, the jet of void matter ripped through dozens of the orbs, causing explosions to thunder multiple times in the air.
Unfortunately, many still got through.
Enhancing the flow of essence within him, Samael nimbly weaved back as he watched the orb when Nova smiled.
Sensing his Void compass and instinct warn him, Samael threw his hand forth as he gathered Void energy in his palm before completely exploding it forward, throwing him away just in time as he watched the green orb grow 10x in size, pulverising to dust everything that got caught inside it.
As Samael landed, he smashed his feet down on the ground as multiple Void spikes erupted from the floor, charging straight towards Nova as the man rotated a clock, causing his body to be snatched away to his previous position a few seconds ago.
"Not bad; your elemental control feels a lot more fluid for some reason. Perhaps it was caused by your rank up," Nova remarked.
Wiping the sweat off his forehead, Samael just nodded as he looked at his hand.
Just like that, Samael continued his training without stopping. He would get up early in the morning, bleed himself to near death and fall into a coma only to fight in the afternoons.
By his fifth stage, Samael had grown accustomed to the pain, as he no longer was knocked unconscious by the severe toll of the process. He only needed to take a few minutes of a breather, then he was back to training.
Day by day he improved upon his training as he finally felt comfortable enough utilising his elements freehandedly.
Not only that, each time he succeeded, the more his control and purity rose. To add even more to his training regime, Samael discovered a way to increase his purity.
Standing in the centre of the arena, Samael closed his eyes as he slowly brought his hands near his waist in a fighting stance.
As his lids opened, a violent burst of void matter exploded from his body almost like a flamethrower. It kept going for minutes on end as Samael fell on his knees, multiple parts of his body scorched and burnt as he hissed.
By releasing a continuous burst of void matter in the purest form he can, he was conditioning his body to get used to the effects of said essence.
By doing this, he had steadily increased all three core aspects within only days.
But soon, his biggest hurdle had finally come.
Nova and Ajax nodded as they stood guard at the edge of the arena. Intently watching Samael as the boy sat down on the ground, putting a piece of cloth over his mouth.
Taking deep breaths, Samael nodded as Elyria ignited once more.
As per Samael's orders, the countdown began for the 8th and final stage of unveiling his Matrix.

Samael's body froze for a moment as he felt as though time had stopped. For a brief second he felt numb until the agonising pain smashed into him straight.
Samael's muffled roar thundered in the air as the cloth he was biting was steadily ripped to pieces, its white surface stained red as blood flooded Samael's orifices.
Black nerves filled his body in every nook and cranny as they squiggled like worms under his flesh.
Nova and Ajax themselves grimaced at the very sight of Samael's torture; just how much more painful would it have been if they felt it personally?
Grinding his teeth, Samael tossed and turned on the puddle of black blood beneath him, the very group he lay on steaming violently under the effects of the Void blood itself.
It went so badly, Samael's mouth began to foam as he drew claw marks on the solid stone, his nails ripping off his fingers.
The reason for this struggle was that for every stage Samael tackled, the stronger the effects of the trials. The pain became harder and harder to deal with.
He thought he had grown a resistance to it, but this pain was different.
Hang on, boss! You're 80% there!
Samael had long lost his vision and his hearing; he was now stuck in the deep darkness of his own prison, tortured by the immense pain.
Nova attempted to step forward, but Ajax held him back as the man shook his head. "We need to trust him."
Nova simply gritted his teeth as Samael continued on.
It was painful.
Way too painful.
Yet, Samael did not buckle.
Pain was an old friend.
The Indomitable Fighting Spirit is roaring!
Samael smashed his hand down on the ground as he forcefully restrained himself.
He was in the final stretch; he could feel it within his veins.
Slowly grasping his necklace, Samael opened his eyes wide as he faintly regained his vision, staring at the vast skies.

Samael bit his lips hard as his fangs dug through, causing blood to burst down his cheeks as he gained a tint of clarity.
99%...
Taking one final breath, Samael could barely stay awake.
As Elyria flashed a panel before him, his will finally gave.
Once more, he returned to the embrace of sleep.
