Chapter 39: Abandoning Draziel!
If it weren't for Daveen and katniss's help, his brains would most likely would have been sucked clean.
Seeing that they might not hold on for any much longer and with the panicking survivors who were screaming and rushing to the stairs for safety, Draziel moved at the flank of the mutated beast and with his speed and strength, squelching sounds reverberates from the hallways as Draziel proceed to kill.
The Giant mutated pigeons seem to be slightly dumb as they only focused on the side with plenty food and file used to ignore the rear, giving Draziel more than enough time and space to attack, it was simply free kills Draziel would never hesitate to accept.
BAM! BAM!! BAM!!!
Three skulls exploded, and two eyeballs popped towards Draziel's head which he immediately dodged with his insane reaction speed and in no time, Draziel had finished off four beasts while Jacob room care of the other two with his swift sword.
Jacob panted heavily and nodded towards Draziel in gratitude. The survivors had managed to enter the stairs in their entirety.
Cleaning the blood off his mask, Jacob said between heavy breaths, pointing towards the stair way door behind him. "Come on, before the other beasts find their way in here."
Draziel nodded and was about to move when he saw the glowing figure of another man hiding behind the door quickly rushed forwards with speed.
In that instant, a strange human like orange color glowing figure swooped right from one of the opened doors and slammed against the man, crushing the man's body against the concrete wall, turning him into a glowing stardust!
With scrunched up eyebrows, Draziel shifted his arm and reached for the young man's back collar, deterring his actions by choking his neck.
"Wait." Draziel's eyes were slightly skeptical as he glanced at a specific door.
"W-why are you stopping me!?"
With wide eyes, the young man struggled against Draziel's pull. The other survivors had gone for safety towards the stairways since it's feasible the floors have been compromised by the flock of the ordinary mutated beasts.
And with Jacob still tugging the door open for them, safety was just right before him and he wasn't about to relinquish it because of what Draziel had to say.
The man's attitude turned savage and he was about to veer around and curse when the door to the room before him exploded into smithereens and a winged creature slammed into the wall nearby, missing the man's skull by a hair's breadth.
"Bang!"
Shocked and wide-eyed, the man hurriedly lunged backwards behind Draziel in fear.
Draziel glanced at the frightened grownup man with the corner of his and his expressionless face turned strangely more cold than it previously was. He then turned his attention towards the winged creature who was still gripping to the wall with its sharp talons.
Sawdust caused by the destruction of the door along with the fog and the darkness of the night made it almost impossible to identify the creature, apart from its structure which almost looked humanoid.
Jacob felt his heart tighten and his throat throbbed. The hairs on his neck rose and stood on end as he stared at the creature before him illuminated by the slight gleam coming from the rooms. Slightly hesitant, he gritted his teeth as he swiftly scanned the status of the creature before him.
[Nathaniel Welser]
[Sex: male]
[Age: 44]
[Race: Type 1 Mutated Human]
In that minute, Jacob felt his throat tighten against his lungs as he felt immense pressure from the creature before him. A Type 1 creature already within the company? The immensity of this couldn't be explained with just words.
"Fall Back!" Jacob screamed his lungs out and without hesitation, he rushed into the stairways, sealing the door behind him without wavering.
He rested and panted on the iron door, his clothes doused with sweat. While his heart was heavy and his conscience fighting against his actions of locking Draziel and the survivor with the Type 1 creature, his brain informed him that it was a necessary risk he had to take for himself and the survival of the survivors.
Moreover, the creature was between him and them, there was no way they would be able to move past the creature in one piece.
In addition, he had long figured out that Draziel was no ordinary human, his strength was above theirs, there's a possibility he might in fact survive but encountering a creature more than ten times stronger than a regular human, would require luck to survive from it.
Besides, the door might not be able to hold the creature if it decides to move towards other stairs. They needed to act quickly.
"Where's Draziel?" Seeing Jacob made it without Draziel, Katniss couldn't help but inquire. Hearing this, Glinda and Daveen turned towards Jacobs with quizzical expressions on their faces.
"A Type 1 creature made it into the building." Jacob's face contorted as he whispered without the other survivors hearing about it.
Glinda's expression turned white and Katniss's eyes turned white while Daveen staggered backwards as the colour drained out of his face.
"T-type 1? We are so dead, so screwed." Daveen stammered and suddenly started to panic. Out of the survivors, only Jacob and Draziel's attribute was above 5 points, but that wasn't nearly enough to deal with an already evolved beast with attributes above ten points and the fact that it had already evolved makes it even stronger than a regular creature with ten points of attribute.
"Calm down Daveen we can get through this." Then she turned towards Jacob as she whispered.
"What should we do now? We can't head out of the company with the Lickers and other beasts roaming around the streets, we will be feasted upon one by one." Katniss seem to have calmed down quickly as she spoke.
"We need to get the hell out of this floor or anywhere close it first, then we can plan what next to do." Jacob's face hardened and a vein popped out of his neck as he spoke.
