Chapter 38: Mutated Pigeons!
Unexpectedly, two glowing sharp talons stabbed through the air and hooked deeply into his shoulder blades, leaving him tangled and incapable of moving while a sharp sword-like beak pecked at his head, rapidly sucking out more than half of his brain in the process.
[Predatory Instinct]
With ten points in agility, Draziel barrelled forwards, evading the two claws and stretched his hands upwards as he snatched one of the Giant pigeon legs, his back seemed to shape like that of a coiled dragon as he whipped the beast sideways like a hammer.
BANG!
He slammed the beast heavily into the body of another Giant pigeon that had just flown into his room. Bloody meat and tissue splattered on his walls, decorating it as the other beast slammed into the valuable painting in the room destroying it while putting a huge dent on the wall.
But as he annihilated one, two more took its place. They kept rushing in as though they had gone rabid. But Draziel knew the radiation not only changed their bodily configuration and make them mutate but also changed their perception of taste and ambition.
Seeing as they were all heading for his head, he shortly predicted out they have the urge to taste brains which could possibly assist with their mutation.
As he killed the beasts rapidly, the screams he was hearing in the room not too far from his had died out, that person either escaped to the hallway or his or her head had been sucked by the flock of those flying monsters.
"BOOM!"
The hardened concrete demarcating his room from the next room by the left finally collapsed as Draziel slammed another beast right into the wall. It couldn't withstand the rapid bashing of the walls and it weakened and then collapsed to the ground with dirt everywhere to reveal the next room, only to uncover more than seven other Mutated Giant Pigeons within that room.
Now there were ten of these beasts in his room and the next and there were still more incoming in his direction like they wouldn't cease anytime shortly.
Draziel's breathing strangely began to reduce and every activity of the beasts within his space started to slow down as though someone had clicked the 0.5x button.
The hallway was slightly pitch black, but a few dim glows stained a few spots within the hall way, probably a few splatters of blood on the glass the floors and the room doors and with the slight luminous effect the radiation had on blood, causes the hallway to be visible albeit barely.
Draziel could still faintly see the situation within the hallway and it was certainly terrible. Blood and chunks of flesh hung around the edges of the doors, swaying with the gust of wind created by the fapping wings of the mutated beasts.
"Go! Go!! Go!!!" Jacob yelled loudly at the survivors, he was taking on three of those mutated pigeons with his sharp sword, but they were simply too fast therefore he couldn't do any real damage to them but could only repel them back with his strength which was higher than that of the beast.
With the new batch of survivors, the number count of the entire group of survivors had reached 43 but now, there was barely twenty of them left. Screams and shrieks echoed in the hallway, the others rushing with their might, trying to get to the stair way before the beast passes Jacob.
Draziel's room was at the other end of the hallway, and while there was also another stairway there, it had been locked with chains out of caution, due to what happened with Jonathan.
"S-save me! Please!!" Another pair of scream resounded within the hallways, but it was drowned by the shrieks of the Giant Mutated and the screams of other survivors.
A man who wasn't able to group with the other survivors at Jacobs end quickly rushed towards Draziel, two other Ordinary Giant Mutated Pigeons rushed out of his room and pursued him with. With their agility, they should have been able to catch up with the man, but the space within the hall way was limited, the mutated birds were unable to flap their wings to move faster therefore, unabling them to catch up quick with the man as they only jumped and hopped with their feet.
Draziel's eyes were cold and indifferent. He watched as the man raced towards him, running and staggering with all his hands and legs, beads of sweat douncing his entire body as he clawed with ashen face towards Draziel.
The beasts only had strength of two and some rare ones had three points of strength, which was why it wasn't very difficult to take care of them. But the only problem was that there wasn't just one of them, there was a horde of them out there trying to get in.
As the man was just a few inches away from him, Draziel's legs turned to a blur and he whipped his legs sideways at the man's head.
The man's eyes were wide open and filled with despair, it was as though he couldn't believe Draziel would attack him even with the beast chasing behind his back.
BANG!
Like a hammer, he slammed the head forcefully against the wall, making it explode. Blood and brain juice splattered on the wall and on his legs as the crunching sounds of bones exploding faintly rang out within the hall. Splinters of bones shot out wards upon the impact.
Draziel let out a chuckle seeing this. He ignored the headless man and walked past him. His target was the beasts that had managed to enter into the hall through the rooms with the doors.
Jacob was covering the retreat of the survivors and with the help of Daveen and Katniss, but with another wave of the mutated beasts pouring in through the opened doors, it was getting increasingly difficult for them to hold the rear.
Jacob's sword was even faster and swifter than Draziel had seen the last time, showing how fast his skill had grown in just a single day. But even then, he was only able to perfectly attack two of those mutated birds but as other birds began popping up from the open rooms, it became increasingly difficult for him as he repel their claws and beak attacks with swift speed.
