Chapter 318: 315. Clash of the titans (10)
The guardians, Kila, and the rest of the fourth classes held the twelve fourth class titans back, fighting them and holding them back.
They all used Xylemite weapons, as their weapons weren't powerful enough to keep up with the creatures' attacks.
The Atlantians used their tridents and actually did damage, making Dexter wonder what they were made out of.
Leaving the rest behind, the ones remaining were him, Jude, Collins, and Gazan.
That made four of them. Since Gazan came with them, they all guessed that he was also of the third class rank.
The four of them moved across the field. The four titans that seemed to be staring at the waters behind them suddenly turned around.
"These creatures all have domains. We don't know what they are, so be careful," Dexter warned, glancing at the terrifyingly enormous entities ahead of them.
Dexter's eyes swept all of them. He could easily see physical differences between the fourth and third class creatures.
The first he saw was a giant that was seemingly made of glass. A colossus of fractured crystal loomed above the chaos, fifty feet tall, its jagged frame splintering and reforming with every movement.
Literal, unnaturally blue glass shards whirled around it in a storm, flashing like a thousand blades. Dexter guessed that it had something to do with its domain. Even its eyes were broken prisms, throwing back twisted reflections. With every shift of its massive body, the very air hissed—as if slicing it with every move.
Jude gritted his teeth as he stared at the colossus of glass. A walking guillotine, that's what it was. And it was not just any guillotine, it was the guillotine that injured him so bad he couldn't heal properly.
The one close to it was the hollow one. A pale titan dragged itself into view, its stretched face cycling through laughter, weeping, and silent screams. Its chest was a cavernous void that beat like a war drum, sending waves of dread rolling outward. Sickly green light pulsed through its veins, staining the air with terror. Dexter felt something crawl into his lungs, into his heart. He didn't know what, but he could somewhat tell that this one might be the most powerful out of all of them.
A shift in the storm drew his gaze farther. The battlefield itself seemed to freeze as the Frost Tyrant lumbered forth. Jagged armor of ice plated its colossal body, crowned with a spine of crystal spires. Each exhale bled a mist that froze the air solid, and even from a distance Jude could feel the numbing bite sinking into his bones. Frost cracked across the ground under its weight, each step claiming more of the land.
The titan in particular was freezing the rest of the waters around them with just its presence. But at least they could all tell what abilities it had.
But it was the last one that made Dexter narrow his eyes. There was a large winged snake that had lightning curl around it. The creature... was weak.
Not that it was weak—compared to the other third class titans, it seemed weak in comparison.
That's when a smaller existence caught his attention.
Not a titan, not a behemoth, but something worse. A figure no taller than seven feet stood atop the amphipteric creature, its carapace black as midnight, claws gleaming with hunger. Insectoid in its head, but its stance was human—eerily human—like a predator playing at being a man. Shadows twisted around its body like a dark aura. Light itself bent around it, flickered, fled from its presence. It didn't move like the others. It stood with calculated calm, seeming like a hunter gazing at its prey from above.
This one wasn't a monster, he could tell that much. This one was a killer.
"Listen up. The small one is very dangerous. But I can't concern myself with it. The one that has glass and shit, leave it for me." Jude looked at it.
The rest of them could feel a deep malice in his tone and gaze. An unfathomable anger rested deep in his soul.
"It's the same one that tore my waist. It's mine!" Jude lunged forward, heading towards the colossus of glass.
The massive one that had a creature on top of it suddenly rushed at them, and Dian rushed towards it in response.
Collins went for the one that had a chilling aura of frost around it, leaving the second weirdest one for him.
Looking at the slack face of the titan, he realized that it indeed resembled a ghost face.
The creature was extremely tall, with thin legs and a hunched back, seeming like a scarecrow.
A long scythe made out of a green light appeared in its hand, and it rushed towards him too.
From where Zur was, he could feel the shaking of the icy ground.
He had formed a spiky ledge piece when he figured that they would have to fight on ice. So he was able to fight with balance.
The titans on the other hand seemed like they were prepared for the ice.
The one he faced was a large one that had large arms and short legs. Its arms swung at him time and time again. In its hands were a pair of what looked like shark teeth.
The biggest shark teeth he had seen.
He swung his trident, the creature struck down with its shark tooth.
Bang!
The ice cracked beneath them. In that moment, Zur saw that there was a storm gathering over the battlefield, casting long shadows and blocking out the warmth of the sun.
The colossus of glass finally reshaped itself to what Jude suspected to be its original form. It was extremely long, like a serpent. The long shards of weird glass floated around it like a shield, and it hissed at him, lunging in that moment.
Jude was fast, turning into a blur of blue light as he moved around it with great speed.
The waters behind him and the creature began to rise up, coming down on the creature like an avalanche.
Feeling a sense of danger, the shards around the colossus moved at great speeds, slashing the water in every position.
Jude couldn't help but smile at its futile efforts to save itself. He clenched his fists, making the water all come together, forming a large hand that grabbed the serpent and dragged it underwater.
Jude followed behind it, his expression not calm anymore.
Today would mark the day of one of their greatest battles. But there were things they all failed to account for. There was something controlling all the creatures to attack the camp.
And they hadn't seen it, or felt its power anywhere close to them.
