Chapter 980: I'll Go First
What was described as mysterious speed wasn't really fast, but the surrounding air was weirdly distorted. The howling wind tore through the twisted air, like a ferocious convict breaking out of prison. Azure wind force swirled around El's body, enveloping him in a light blue sheen, while El's black eyes were filled with coldness, as icy as frost.
Making eye contact with El, Cook felt as if he had fallen into an ice chamber, his whole body shivering with cold. This chill came from his heart, not caused by the wind force surrounding El. Letting out a loud scream, lightning burst forth from Cook's body, instantly dispelling and shredding the approaching wind force. Then, he clenched his right fist, his eyes turning blood-red with killing intent spreading. Cook was not someone who would obediently stand still and wait for death. Since the other party was desperate, he saw no reason to hold back. Retreating now would only lead to his own death, and Cook knew this well.
Thunder light burst out from between his fingers with a crackling sound. Just as the tangled thunder light was about to leave Cook's right hand, an invisible pressure forced it back. A flash of killing intent passed through Cook's blood-red eyes as he targeted El's approaching figure and punched out.
"Thunder Fist."
Thunder light roared, accompanied by a crackling sound. A mass of thunder light gathered into a fist and charged directly at the bizarrely moving El.
As the thunder light approached, El's expression remained unchanged. He extended his right hand into a palm, quickly gathering wind force into his palm. With a shout of "break," the azure light burst out suddenly. A crisp cracking sound followed as the mighty thunder light shattered like a fragile glass ball under El's palm, but El's movement didn't pause at all, continuing to close in on Cook with an uncanny motion.
With a whoosh of wind, Cook felt dazzled as El, who had been moving strangely in the air, seemed to vanish suddenly. However, the azure light flickering everywhere seemed to indicate that El was still in the air, just moving faster.
"Cui Ming," a deep, emotionless voice sounded in Cook's ear. Suddenly, he saw El's figure rapidly distancing itself.
Suddenly, Cook realized he had been hit, feeling a tangled sensation in his abdomen, as if the muscles there were completely knotted together, like a ball of tangled thread. He spat out blood, finally realizing his body was losing control, even the lightning around him losing connection.
What was happening? Cook was utterly shocked. No matter how hard he tried to mobilize the Power of thunder and lightning within him, there was no response. It seemed like a strange energy in his abdomen was disrupting the normal flow of his inner energy.
Just as Cook was recovering from his shock, darkness fell before his eyes as El, who had just attacked him, caught up. In El's hand was still a ball of azure light.
Not giving Cook any chance, El pressed a palm onto Cook, then immediately released the azure light ball in his other hand onto Cook. Without any suspense, a burst of red light exploded, fire engulfing Cook's body. At this moment, Cook had lost control over his body as well as the ability to mobilize basic energy to protect himself. The scorching heat made him scream in pain.
Having landed two blows, El's taut nerves instantly relaxed. He knew staying in such a tense state was extremely mentally taxing. Before he could fully grasp the situation around him, he saw a flash of silver light, and his body flew through the air like a kite with a broken string.
Pain, indescribable pain, a pain piercing deep into his bones, left El unable to cry out because all his attention was focused on the pain, unable to make a sound. The scenery blurred, tears accompanying the pain. What kind of blow could make El, already in agony all over, forget other pains and remember only this one?
His internal organs felt like they were thrown into a meat grinder, constantly churned, layers of pain stacking up.
With a thud, he crashed to the ground, finally feeling some relief from the unbearable pain, though his body twitched uncontrollably.
A gust brushed his face, and El saw a Flame Power woman's face in front of him. She stood before him, looking at him with cold eyes, as if viewing a dead object. A dagger in her left hand glinted with an azure light, surrounded by a faint azure glow, but the howling wind made it terrifying.
It was clear what his fate would be. In such a desperate moment, El couldn't help but chuckle, realizing his life was so brief when he once thought he'd live a long life. Smiling, El found tears falling as he watched the woman's dagger approaching closer, knowing he couldn't escape this time because Shu was also in dire straits.
"Boss, Shu, I'll go first," El shouted, already feeling the icy sensation as the dagger's blade cut into his skin, a chilling feeling to the bone.
The scent of fresh blood scattered in the wind, stimulating the nerves, making the already frenzied Shu even more so. Hearing El's last words while being cornered by the young man, he could only listen as El shouted his final words, watching helplessly as El was about to die here.
Roars, just roars, but apart from that, Shu could do nothing else. The ending was already foreseeable; he would soon die here too.
Who would've thought I'd die like this, in such a chaotic place? Shu pondered, a strange expression appearing on his face. As someone who lived by hunting fugitives, he was prepared for death, but he didn't expect to die not on the hunt but by being hunted himself.
Perhaps this was retribution.
Amidst the wild wind, the bloody scent lingered, reluctant to fade away.
The Flame Power woman clutched her left wrist, blood dripping through her fingers. A whirlwind shielded her body from further ambushes. Opposite her stood a man, a relaxed-looking man who, despite standing in front of her, seemed absent.
Long Yan, standing before the Flame Power woman, maintained his casual demeanor. Looking at El, with eyes closed awaiting death, he felt a pang of emotion, not understanding Zhu Bufan's allure, for someone to willingly fight for him.
"You can't die here, or I won't be able to explain myself," Long Yan chuckled lightly, his voice dissipated by the wind.
Hearing Long Yan's voice, El opened his eyes, filled with disbelief, never sensing someone beside him. Just moments ago, he thought he was about to die. Once out of danger, El felt his whole body go weak, then fell asleep.
"Honestly, I shouldn't have intervened in this matter, but unfortunately, you offended someone you shouldn't have," Long Yan squinted, a glint in his eyes followed by extending his right hand into the air.
The whirlwind spinning around the woman abruptly halted, the air pressure around her suddenly increasing, and she was flung away. Without understanding what happened, she saw the man who had stood still vanish.
Long Yan reappeared silently beside the young man. He reached out, striking the youth's back, a strange ripple emanating from his palm. The struck youth felt his energy uncontrollably surge inside, unable to defend as his body lightened, sent flying away.
