Chapter 981: Everyone Is Worried

At this moment, the sky was gradually lightening, and from afar, a layer of clouds on the horizon was rolling as a platinum glimmer pierced through the dark clouds, bringing the first trace of light and warmth to the land shrouded in darkness. A gentle warm breeze blew softly from a distance, dissipating the scent of gunpowder, the scent of blood, and people's fatigue, but unable to blow away the killing intent.

Long Yan hummed softly, squinting slightly as he glanced at the white light on the skyline and the stars in the sky that were gradually dimming. He stretched lazily and said in a voice tinged with a bit of drowsiness, "Finally, it's dawn."

Then he retracted the lazy look in his eyes and turned to the young man, Cook, and the Flame Power woman who had already gotten up, saying, "Aren't you three leaving? After dawn, I really don't want to kill anyone." His voice was still lazy, yet it contained a slight hint of intimidation.

There was no reply, and the three young men stepped forward in unison. After a night of battle, although they seemed to be winning, their bodies were covered in wounds and they looked disheveled, showing no sign of victory. The only reason they were reluctant to leave now was that the prey they'd been hunting all night had been so easily taken by someone else, leaving them aggrieved.

"I don't want to provoke a troublesome enemy for now, much less be locked up in the wall when I return, so you'd better leave. I understand your situation, so don't entertain any foolish ideas." Long Yan's tone was relaxed, not taking the injured trio in front of him seriously at all.

Hearing Long Yan's words, the three, who originally intended to act, suddenly stopped in their tracks, staring intently at Long Yan as if they were trying to dissect him with their gaze. After a long while, the young man finally came to his senses, uttering almost inaudibly, "People from Longzhu?" It was a question, but the answer was glaringly obvious.

Long Yan didn't reply, instead staring back at the three in the same unblinking manner, seemingly waiting for their answer, although the answer was more than obvious. Even if the three of them fought back with all their might now, it wouldn't cause any trouble for Long Yan; instead, they might lose their lives here, while Long Yan would surely take Zhu Bufan and the others away.

There simply was no second outcome.

The young trio understood the consequences of continuing to confront the opponent. Although extremely unwilling, with their current physical condition, it was clearly impossible to detain the opponent here, especially after the young man came to that almost bizarre conclusion; they were even more reluctant to face the formidable presence before them in their current condition. The trio sighed reluctantly, taking a few steps back but still not leaving, their eyes fixed on Long Yan.

Seeing the three retreat, Long Yan said nothing more but smiled slightly and said, "I owe you three a favor. If there's any conflict with the little guy again in the future, I'll let them spare your lives." His words were exceedingly blunt, yet spoken as if stating an indisputable fact. Only after the young trio settled did Long Yan take Zhu Bufan from Shu's back and leave the ruins with Shu and El.

Watching Long Yan depart with Shu and El, the young man let out an extremely unwilling roar, punching the air and forcibly shattering a two-story high wall. After venting, the young man led Cook and the Flame Power woman to meet Giles. Now that it was daylight, who knew what other accidents might happen if they didn't hurry back; their current state couldn't handle too many messy situations. The trio dragged their somewhat weary bodies toward where Giles was stationed, having already spent an entire night, and not returning to report would also lead to trouble.

Long Yan, with Shu and El, moved swiftly, Zhu Bufan's condition still unclear, but he remained in a semi-drowsy state, unable to speak or act. Shu and El's wounds had been quickly treated to stop the bleeding, with further treatment needing to wait until they reached a safe place.

Not taking Shu and El back to the border, midway Long Yan directly diverted onto a path that wasn't quite a path, leading Shu and El through the ruins to the front of a building that was left half-destroyed. Without any hesitation, Long Yan plunged into the abandoned building. Shu and El didn't know what was happening; though they were puzzled, since Zhu Bufan had already been taken inside by Long Yan, they had no reason to just stand outside. After a brief hesitation, they followed him in.

Upon entering, it was still a ruin, while Long Yan stood in a slightly shaded spot. When he saw Shu and El follow him in, he turned and surprisingly squeezed through a hole in the building's wall. Shu and El exchanged glances, not understanding why Long Yan was doing this pointless act. However, they had no chance to ask, and seeing Long Yan already passing through the broken wall, if they didn't follow, they would indeed lose him.

Just as they passed through the hole in the wall, Shu and El noticed the surrounding environment changed abruptly, no longer showing the ruinous scene through the hole, but a different setting instead—a not-so-wide corridor, dimly lit with nothing but lights for illumination. They paused momentarily, seeing Long Yan's figure gradually fade into the slightly dim corridor, prompting them to quickly give chase.

The corridor wasn't long; it took them only a short while to reach the end, arriving before a circular arch with no door panel, just void. Beyond the arch was a room of modest size, modestly furnished with a few chairs and two wooden bunk beds, with something resembling a long coffin placed in the corner of the room.

When Shu and El reached the arch, Long Yan was placing Zhu Bufan into that coffin-like apparatus, then closing a transparent reinforced glass lid and swiftly pressing a few buttons on the control panel beside it. Completing this series of actions, Long Yan pulled up a chair and sat down. He glanced at Shu and El, who were still standing outside, and said, "Why aren't you coming in? Are your injuries already healed?"

The two people standing outside the door finally reacted and hurried into the room. After pulling over a random chair and sitting down, they finally let out a sigh of relief. They still hadn't figured out why they suddenly appeared in such a place after passing through the broken wall. However, they did not ask questions and instead sat quietly in their places.

"This is a rest station we set up. It's very safe, and you can heal your injuries here without worry. As for Zhu Bufan, let him stay in the healing pod. Once your bodies recover, I'll find a way to get you out of here." Long Yan simply arranged matters for the three people and then took out a few vials of medicine from a cabinet next to the healing pod, tossing them to Shu and El. "The white ones are for external application, and the red ones are for internal use, capable of quickly healing your injuries."

After explaining how to use the medicine, Long Yan got up and walked to a wall. He tapped on the wall with a strange rhythm, after which a mechanical sound was heard. A small part of the wall immediately recessed, and then a screen appeared there. Long Yan pressed a few buttons in the corner of the screen, and a connection interface began to appear.

Long Yan stood quietly in place, waiting for the connection.

It didn't take too long, just two breaths from Shu and El, before the connection was established. A young man's face appeared on the screen, with a lazy expression, obviously awakened by Long Yan's call. Pressing the call button, the young man's lazy voice came through the speaker: "Bro, it's not even daylight yet. Why are you calling? You should know I just got back from a mission and was hoping for a good sleep."

"I saw Zhu Bufan." Long Yan had no intention of wasting time talking with the youth and directly mentioned Zhu Bufan's name.

As soon as Long Yan finished speaking, the young man on the other end of the screen, who initially had a lazy expression, suddenly jumped up, his laziness wiped away. He pressed his face close to the screen and excitedly shouted, "Where is he? Where is Zhu Bufan now?" The youth's face was full of urgency and excitement, and he quickly left the screen, searching for something near his bedside.

"We must inform Xiao Ruo, must inform Yichen. We must notify them." The youth's hands trembled slightly, clearly extremely excited.

Through the screen, Long Yan didn't miss a bit of the young man's loss of composure. Seeing the youth becoming increasingly unsettled, Long Yan lightly coughed and said, "Feiyun, calm down. Zhu Bufan is here with me now." Long Yan could hardly stand seeing Long Feiyun so out of control—it was simply too embarrassing for the Tranquil Ruins members.

Upon hearing that Zhu Bufan was right there with Long Yan, Long Feiyun, who had been searching for something, immediately jumped back to the screen, grabbing and shaking it: "Where? Where? Get him to see me right away! Hurry!" In the screen, Long Feiyun didn't see Zhu Bufan, so he kept shaking it, as if that would make Zhu Bufan appear.

"Sit down." Long Yan understood Long Feiyun's emotions, but if things continued this way, who knew what he'd do once he learned of Zhu Bufan's condition. Thus, his tone suddenly became stern.

With Long Yan's change in tone, Long Feiyun stopped shaking the screen and obediently sat down, watching Long Yan on the screen with anticipation, waiting for Zhu Bufan to appear beside him.

"Zhu Bufan is injured and recuperating with me, but otherwise, he's fine." Long Yan explained Zhu Bufan's condition thoroughly, also recounting what had happened to Zhu Bufan and his assumptions. Earlier, while on the road, he had already learned from Shu and El about their encounters, so he was able to articulate it very clearly. As for the so-called assumptions, they were almost certainly true, but as a member of the Tranquil Ruins, he couldn't state anything without solid evidence as an absolute.

After listening to Long Yan's account, Long Feiyun fell into silence, staring down at the ground with a solemn expression. Only after a long silence did he contact Xiao Ruo and inform her of Zhu Bufan's situation. Similarly, loud shouting was heard from that end, and soon, Long Yan received a request from Xiao Ruo.

Long Yan suddenly found himself with a headache. He knew Xiao Ruo and Long Feiyun's temperaments very well, and if they were to confirm the news about Zhu Bufan, who knew what consequences might unfold. Unexpectedly, Xiao Ruo's reaction was rather calm.

"Where is Zhu Bufan?" Xiao Ruo asked calmly. Except for a hint of excitement in her voice, there was nothing else, almost as if she didn't care much about Zhu Bufan being injured.

"He's in the healing pod behind me right now."
