Trembling At A High Altitude

Chapter 77 Black! It's really black!

The staff, seeing that Li Teng had no intention of stopping, went over, forcefully lifted him, and pressed him onto one of the stretchers.

Anna was lifted onto another stretcher.

Li Teng didn't resist anymore, letting these people carry him down the hillside and into the helicopter, along with Anna.

There were two healing pods inside the helicopter.

Both of them were thrown directly into the healing pods.

The helicopter started up and quickly rose into the sky.

Meanwhile, several medical helicopters took off one after another from the explosion and burning zones at the helicopter's nose and tail.

...

When Li Teng woke up, he found himself in a room.

After changing into the free clothing provided by the production crew, Li Teng walked out of the room.

Outside was an airport.

The room he had just been in was a treatment room at the airport.

The director, wearing a mask, was making a phone call, and her two bodyguards were sitting on lounge chairs not too far from the treatment room door.

Li Teng walked over and found a chair to sit down as well, waiting for the director to finish her call.

A while later, Anna emerged from another room nearby.

She looked quite dejected.

"You died a terrible death! Your pants were torn off by branches, and you were left hanging from a tree, butt naked. Haha, too bad I didn't bring a camera..." Li Teng joked heartlessly with Anna.

Anna glared at Li Teng with a dark expression and remained silent.

The director glanced at Li Teng and hung up the phone.

"Director, am I dead?" Anna asked hurriedly as the director ended her call.

"I'm waiting for the news," the director said as she took out her phone to check it.

"The plane crash we just experienced, was it the Hell Mode scene?" Anna asked the director a few more questions.

"It should be, I guess. Anyway, the notification I got was that filming for your Hell Mode sequences has ended," the director nodded.

"I survived. Is there any reward for that?" Li Teng remembered the promise the director had given him.

"Mhm, surviving Hell Mode earns a reward of four times the pay," the director answered Li Teng.

"That's it?" Li Teng was very disappointed. The director had promised him an opportunity, a chance to get back at the Black-hearted Doctor.

As for the quadruple pay reward, it was utterly meaningless to him.

Forty points, with half going back to the Black-hearted Doctor, meant he would only end up with twenty points for himself.

"Wait a moment," the director said as she put away her phone.

After a while, the director's phone rang and she answered it.

Not knowing who she was talking to, and not able to discern what the other party was saying, the director simply responded with several "Mhm" sounds.

"Hell Mode is over, congratulations to both of you for surviving the Hell Mode shoot!" After hanging up the phone, the director turned to Li Teng and Anna to relay a few words.

"Survived?" Anna was clearly excited.

"She didn't die?" Li Teng seemed somewhat disappointed.

Anna glared at Li Teng fiercely.

"That's the notification I received. Maybe she was in a deep coma at the time? The determination of life or death isn't made manually but by the Medical Pod from the moment it received her." The director answered Li Teng. The live broadcast signal was cut at that moment, the following drone flew away, marking the official end of this Hell Mode.

...

"Anna didn't die either? Hell Mode, isn't it supposed to be a seven-to-one death ratio?" Elsa was quite surprised after watching the live broadcast.

"I don't know, but this is a good thing. I bet Feng Dahai is about to explode," Gao Fei glanced over at Feng Dahai and his group at the other end of the hall.

"That's great! Good people really do get good rewards! Hell Mode! They actually all survived!" Daisy seemed very happy.

...

"Motherfucker! So damn shady! I've never seen such a dark horse before!" Feng Dahai, who had just finished watching the live stream, was indeed on the verge of losing it.

"There's nothing left to say. The Film and Television City must be run by the jerk's relatives, right? No matter what, he can't die, and anyone who hangs out with him can't die either." Huang Xun was now perhaps regretting not clinging onto Li Teng's coattails. He had strayed further and further down the wrong path.

"Hey, they're not even sticking the rules anymore. What happened to 'seven deaths for one life'? So it's fine to have two survivors without any explanation?" Pretty Boy Du Qing had always felt that the Guo family's mother and son had died a wrongful death, but now, it didn't seem wrongful at all. Li Teng was a bug in the game!

...

"Hahahaha... four times the reward! Eighty points! I'm raking it in!" Anna was very happy.

"Tsk tsk tsk, you were livestreamed butt-naked for the whole internet to see, and you're still so cheerful?" Li Teng continued to joke heartlessly.

"Did you see it? I'll gouge out your eyes first!" Anna's face reddened, and she reached out to gouge out Li Teng's eyes, but he caught her wrist.

"Quiet!" the director called out.

The two of them immediately stopped fooling around.

"Li Teng, for your performance this time, you've also received an additional reward, a Companionship Card," the director spoke.

"A Companionship Card? What's that?" Li Teng was puzzled. Before he entered Hell Mode, the director had made him a promise that if he came back alive, he would help him get a chance, possibly related to getting revenge on the Black-hearted Doctor.

This Companionship Card couldn't be a reward inherent to the Film and Television City's Hell Mode, could it? Could it be the chance that the director had helped him secure? But how could this card be used to take revenge on the Black-hearted Doctor?

"Go check the description of the reward on the terminal," the director said, seemingly not wanting to elaborate.

"Director, wasn't it said that in Hell Mode there would be seven deaths for one life, or even eight deaths for zero lives? How come both he and I survived?" Anna asked the director, a bit confused.

The people watching the livestream also focused intently on the screen.

"There is no rule specifying how many people can survive in Hell Mode. 'Seven deaths for one life' or 'eight deaths for zero lives' are just what people who have heard of Hell Mode summarized from experience," the director replied to Anna.

"I see." Anna nodded, not asking any further. She quickly got up and went to the terminal on the wall of the hall, wanting to check what she had gone through after she had passed out.

Was it really as Li Teng said? That her trousers had been ripped off by branches and she was left hanging from a tree in her underwear?

If that was the case, it would be terribly embarrassing!

Li Teng had already arrived at a terminal, turning it on to search.

He now had 45 points in his account.

Then, a one-time use item appeared in his inventory: a Companionship Card.

Li Teng checked the instructions for using the Companionship Card.

"Companionship Card: Can summon one person you know to become an actor in the same filming crew in the next shoot."

Right below the phrase 'person you know,' there was an underlined line that could be clicked on.

After Li Teng touched these words with his hand, the screen displayed rows of profile pictures.

Several were grayed out, such as Gao Fei, Daisy, Elsa, Huang Xun, and others. They were originally in the same crew as Li Teng and did not have the authority to select a new crew, so they were certain to remain in the same crew as Li Teng for the next shoot, meaning Li Teng's Companionship Card could not be used on them.

Feng Dahai, Sunglasses Woman Anna, and Pretty Boy Du Qing were also among the profile pictures.

Feng Dahai was grayed out because he had already died and was about to be encased in wax, with no opportunity to join the next shoot.

Anna and Du Qing were selectable.

With their status, they had the authority to change crews, but if Li Teng used the Companionship Card on them, they would be obligated to remain in Li Teng's current crew for the next shoot.

However, Li Teng had no interest in choosing either of them.

What interested him was that the Black-hearted Doctor's picture also appeared on the screen.

Within the selectable range of the 'Companionship Card'!
