Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 175 Imitation and Joining

"What do you mean?" Jason walked over and asked. "How exactly does one mimic other creatures?"

"Is it also mimicking the face, or can it directly turn into an animal?" Lucilia, on Alka's shoulder, asked curiously.

Alka shook his head. He didn't know either; he hadn't tried it yet.

"Let me try. Can any of you help me catch a bird, a mouse, or some insects?"

"Wait for me," Jason said, dashing out.

In just a few minutes, he returned holding a small bird, though it was unknown where he had caught it. He handed it to Alka.

Alka took the small bird, his face still covered by the Mirror Mask, and looked at the bird in his hand. The Mirror Mask perfectly reflected the small bird. Magic Power surged into the mask. Alka continued observing the bird very carefully. The reflection on the Mirror Mask also revealed the meticulousness of Alka's observation.

The Mirror Mask began to change; this time, an image of a bird emerged. The mask then transformed, turning Alka's entire head into a bird's head, identical to the one he held.

A magnified bird head!

"CHIRP CHIRP!"

Seeing the head of the person before it suddenly turn into a giant bird's head, the bird in Alka's hand was terrified. It started struggling and chirping furiously.

Everyone stared at Alka, dumbfounded. Transforming into another person's face was nothing compared to the shock of turning into a bird's head. At that moment, Alka was a bird-headed man, a monstrous sight, but one had to admit, his bird head was actually quite cute.

Lucilia, sitting on his shoulder, couldn't help but stand up and touch the feathers on the bird head with her cotton-cloth hand.

Jason, from who knows where, produced a handful of nuts and dangled them in front of Alka. "Eat, eat."

Alka swatted them away with his bird head and glared fiercely at him.

"HAHAHA." Watching Alka's indignant reaction, Jason couldn't help but laugh out loud. A bird's head on a human body looked incredibly comical, no matter how one looked at it.

Then, the bird head twisted and changed like a mirror, reverting to Alka wearing the Mirror Mask.

"My observation wasn't meticulous enough," Alka remarked. "I don't understand this bird well enough yet."

Once he truly mimicked another animal, he began to understand roughly how the ability worked. With only superficial observation, he could at most mimic an animal's head. The better he understood the animal he was mimicking, the more aspects of it he could replicate, and the more detailed the mimicry would become.

At this thought, the Hand of Precision materialized on his hand, along with a small knife resembling a scalpel. After placing a protective layer on the table, he killed the bird in his hand and began dissecting it in front of everyone.

Faced with such a scene, no one showed any discomfort; instead, they gathered around to watch closely. They watched Alka carefully dissect the bird, meticulously observing every incision he made, until Alka had thoroughly dissected the bird's entire carcass.

"So, you need to observe the object you intend to mimic, right?" Chadite asked, watching Alka's actions. "The more you observe and understand it, the better the mimicry will be."

Alka nodded. "That's right."

Now, he had a deeper understanding of this bird. If he could also observe its behavior and habits, he might gain even further insights.

After cleaning up the bloodstains and remains, the Mirror Surface reappeared on Alka's face. This time, he intended to engage in a deeper level of mimicry to uncover the true capabilities of this Treasure.

The image of the bird emerged on the Mirror Mask. In addition, more Mirrors appeared around him. The Mirrors that had appeared around Alka began Melting, becoming like flowing water and starting to adhere to his body, moving across its surface. The entire process resembled the transformation that occurred when Alka first wore the mask. This continued until the liquid, resembling a Mirror Surface, flowed down to his hands, covering them entirely, along with his forearms.

The bird's image reappeared on the mask, but this time, Alka's head and the Mirror Mask itself did not change. Instead, the mask continuously displayed an image of the bird within the Mirror—leaping, flying, and landing. It no longer reflected the surrounding scenery.

This time, the change manifested in Alka's hands. They were no longer human, having transformed into bird-like claws, each with four sharp talons.

"They've turned into bird claws! But aren't a bird's claws part of its legs? Why have your hands turned into claws here?" Lucilia, on his shoulder, couldn't help but ask.

As soon as she finished speaking, the bird-claw-like hands shattered, scattering like fragments of a broken Mirror, and then Alka's arms reappeared.

"COUGH COUGH. It seems that didn't work," Alka said without further explanation. Then, two more Mirrors appeared, transforming into fluid-like mirror metal that wrapped around his legs, extending from his calves down to his feet. They then transformed into bird claws, even sprouting feathers.

Alka looked at his new bird claws, then lifted his leg and wiggled it. This time, there were no issues; they didn't shatter.

Indeed, just as Lucilia's question had implied, mimicry had to follow certain principles; one couldn't just imitate anything arbitrarily. For example, mimicking a bird's head onto a different body part or swapping hands and feet wouldn't work.
