Traveler of the River of Time and Space

Chapter 6: Soul Guide

Vermilion Bird Dao.

Su Ziyu frowned as he watched the flying heads rapidly approaching him with loud shouts, and without thinking twice, he kicked one directly.

Whoosh~!

Unexpectedly, the flying head turned out to be quite sturdy. Su Ziyu's kick sent it flying over a hundred meters away, yet it just wobbled in mid-air before recovering, a clear shoe print visible on its hideous ghostly face. It angrily shouted, "Who!? Who kicked me?"

Over ten flying heads stopped in mid-air simultaneously, all turning to look at Su Ziyu not far away.

The scene looked slightly frightening.

"Need a hand?" Su Ziyu raised an eyebrow and asked the Black and White Ghost Emissaries ahead.

Vermilion Bird Dao lives up to its reputation in Kyoto as the place most likely to encounter ghosts. A quick glance from Su Ziyu revealed hundreds of spirits, mixed with some demons that had taken beastly forms.

"Thank you for your assistance, sir!" Ghost Emissary Black said to Su Ziyu before him, "But please don't kill them! They are still possessing mortal bodies!"

Rumor has it that the flying heads can possess humans and, at night, run around with their heads.

If they don't return by dawn, the human would die from losing their head.

"Riding someone else's head? Not bad!" Su Ziyu scanned the surroundings and quickly pinpointed the positions of the flying heads.

The flying heads could only fly at low altitudes, though quite fast, they didn't possess strong abilities.

Su Ziyu stretched a bit on the spot, and with a sudden burst, his entire figure vanished, accompanied by a muffled thud as cracks appeared on the bluestone ground. Utilizing the explosive power and telekinesis flight ability, he directly appeared behind one of the flying heads and grabbed its hair, smashing it against the ground.

Boom!

He exerted some control. This flying head was dazed, with a swollen and bruised face, but its head wasn't directly smashed to pieces.

Su Ziyu then pinched the slender neck beneath its head, turned, and rushed toward another flying head. Using the same technique, after knocking the second flying head out, he tied their necks together like a bow, casually carrying them like balloons.

"Not good!"

"There's a tougher one over here! Run!" Su Ziyu's swift actions frightened the flying heads, causing them to scatter and flee in all directions.

Telekinesis flight is well-suited for combat.

However, controlling it can be a bit tricky, requiring high concentration. Su Ziyu's leaping and explosive abilities are already strong, combined with telekinesis flight, it allows for rapid low-altitude gliding, but this tests one's neural reflexes as mistakes can lead to crashes.

Though not as fast as the Guhuo Bird encountered earlier, dealing with these flying heads using other people's heads for thrills at night was easy.

In just a short time.

Su Ziyu captured seven or eight flying heads, tying all their necks together and tossing them casually in front of the Black and White Ghost Emissaries.

With Su Ziyu's help, the two Ghost Emissaries quickly captured the flying heads, who appeared dejected and continuously pleaded, "We haven't harmed anyone! We haven't killed a single person!"

"We just borrowed their heads for a bit!"

"We'll return them by dawn!"

"Really."

"We haven't harmed anyone!"

Pow pow pow.

The Black and White Ghost Emissaries, without saying a word, pummeled the flying heads, leaving them bruised and battered before sternly saying, "Come with us to explain to the Judge!"

"Thank you for your help, sir." The Black and White Ghost Emissaries cupped their hands in thanks to Su Ziyu and added, "The Underworld has been restless lately. It's best not to wander around too much, sir."

They recognized Su Ziyu.

Just didn't expect to encounter Su Ziyu again in the Underworld after seeing him only yesterday.

"Haha. Just passing through. Passing through." Su Ziyu chuckled and replied.

It seems the Ghost Capital can no longer control these spirits, turning even Vermilion Bird Dao into a place for ghostly fun.

Using the Soul Hook to drag over ten flying heads, the Black and White Ghost Emissaries proceeded toward the Ghost Capital. In the direction of the Imperial Palace, Su Ziyu could see a dark red cloud of fire on the horizon. If things go as expected, the ruler of the Ghost Capital, the Yama mentioned by the Aoandon, likely resides there.

Fusang's territory is small, and the Underworld here seems to center around the Ghost Capital.

But as far as Su Ziyu can see, outside the Ghost Capital's range, other areas are not governed by the Underworld at all, completely dominated by various demons claiming their own territories.

This slightly resembles the Mortal World, as the Fusang Court has weakened considerably, and the Shogunate Era is nearing.

In 935 and 939, Fusang had just experienced the Johei and Tengyo disturbances, a period during which the Court struggled to suppress rebellions, necessitating the aid of samurai clans. However, the Fusang Imperial Family's ability to cling to power remains strong, and the samurai clans lack the courage for an outright coup for now.

"Master Su, please wait." Just as Su Ziyu was about to return to the Mortal World, a cold female voice suddenly called out.
