Transmigrated into the Most Hated Scum. My Wives are Plentiful!

Chapter 74: New Appearance

Koul backed away further. He was creeped out by how stagnant she stared at him. Her eyes were wide open and fixated on him like a doll that wasn't even breathing.

I-is she dead?

"R-remi?" He stuttered in a whisper.

Still unmoving, Remi replied in a cold tone that stirred goosebumps all over Koul.

"Oh! You're awake," she said.

Like you haven't been staring at me since I woke up. Why act surprised?

Koul dragged his eyes toward the knife in her hand and she followed.

She lifted the knife when she saw Koul's eyes were on it and she twirled it gently with mastered finesse.

"This… I was planning on peeling you some fruits when you woke up," she smiled.

But there was no warmth beneath the smile. If anything, it tugged more fear inside Koul.

And Koul might've believed her but when his eyes swept through the entire room, no single fruit could be found.

Remi set aside the knife on the bed and rose from the chair. Then she got onto the bed beside Koul.

"I thought you were down with something," she said as she examined Koul's forehead.

While this was an act of worry from her, her touch felt oddly unsettling to Koul. But he didn't want to push her away.

She felt so small in front of him. But while she looked fragile, her energy was something else.

Doubt gathered in Koul's mind. He just couldn't believe this was the shy Remi who couldn't even speak properly when they first met.

He wondered how she changed so much.

After a moment, Koul sighed and spoke.

"I'm not sick," he said. "I've just been busy with a lot of things."

"I'm sure," she replied.

But her tone was cold which made Koul's eyes dart to her.

For a fleeting moment, he saw the cold glint and deadly expression on her face, but she soon masked it with a smile.

No, really….. she might be planning my demise.

'Cause what's this two faced shit?

"You must be very tired. I'll stay by your side and watch you rest."

Koul stared silently at her for a moment. He was sure the Remi he knew couldn't be this forward.

Or was it him who didn't quite catch her character from the little times they'd met?

"You don't have to," he said.

His tone was firm.

"I have some work to do. It'll be better if you also retire for the night and go rest."

Her face, once again, turned cold with a glare. Her blue eyes gleamed sharply like she could use them to slice off Koul's head.

Noticing this, Koul kept calm. He was beginning to understand her. That there are two sides to her like there is to a coin.

Quietly, she reached back to the knife and picked it up.

Don't tell me… Koul panicked inwardly.

But Remi held the knife in her grasp for only a moment before she turned all smiley again.

"I see."

She leaned in with her face and out of reflex, Koul leaned back. But she pushed forward and planted a kiss on his forehead.

"I'll take my leave then…. for now."

What do you mean for now?

She got down from the bed and walked toward the door. She looked so elegant in her night robe. And her pale skin was so enticing.

But Koul was too drained. And he needed to keep his priority straight.

"Make sure to have a good sleep," she said just as she slammed the door shut after her.

A loud sigh of relief left Koul.

After a moment that he was certain she'd gone far, he called out to Kanstiv.

"Remi, is she always like that?" He asked when Kanstiv came in.

Kanstiv couldn't quite understand.

"Um, not really sure. She's very reserved so not much can be picked up from her."

It's all an act, I tell you! All an act! Koul screamed internally.

"Anyways," Koul dragged himself out of bed.

"Let's get started."

Kanstiv walked over and handed Koul some cartoned color scrolls.

"These are our new details. Your new identity and background. As well as mine and the noble family that has agreed to adopt you."

Koul loosened the ropes from the scrolls and started going through them.

"My new name is Reshan?!"

"Yes. You'll take on the surname of the family that will adopt you."

"And what do you mean yours as well? Do you need to change your identity?"

Koul questioned as he went through Kanstiv's file.

"Yes. You might not be aware, your majesty. But we knights are pretty well known out there. It's why I even dyed my hair black."

Koul's gaze snapped up at Kanstiv instantly. He hadn't noticed the change of hair color.

"Then, are you planning on enrolling there too?"

"Not as a student, no. I already applied there as a physical training instructor."

Waa.. so fast with it.

Koul went through the scrolls to note down his new information. Not much was changed, just his name and background.

"I will like a bath after you cut my hair," he said.

"Yes, your highness. I will inform the maids right after."

Koul walked to a chair in his room and sat. Then Kanstiv came with a sharp tiny knife to work on his hair.

He was gentle and as careful as he could. First, he cut off the length just beneath his neck, then he trimmed it.

After they were done, Koul checked himself out in the mirror.

It was short, layered hair with strands. Parted faintly in the middle and it framed his face perfectly.

"Yeah, no. There's no way they'd be deceived," Kanstiv said as he stared at Koul in the mirror.

"Huh?"

"That face is too outstanding to be that of an ordinary orphan commoner."

So good looking people can't be commoners? Hera looks very good though.

Koul stared blankly at Kanstiv and he stared right back.

"You're just too in good health to be a commoner from an orphanage."

"Look past that. I just grew up in an orphanage that took great care of me."

"Sigh. I'll inform the maids to get your bath ready, then prepare your meal. We'll be leaving tonight when everyone is asleep."

Kanstiv turned to leave, but Koul called him back.

"Before that, I need you to make a list of all my wives. Including the ones not in the palace right now. All of them. With their ages and names. Do not miss a single one."

Kanstiv stared at Koul with confusion.

"If you don't mind me asking, why, your majesty?"

Koul wasn't planning on taking all his wives along with him, right?

"There's no really a big reason behind it. I've just decided to start keeping track of them."

As their husband, I don't want to be so lenient and leave things as are anymore.

They all have to come under me and know who their master is.
