Chapter 324: Sparring with others 2

As soon as Nathan heard Luciel say that he came to train, or more specifically, to spar, he was genuinely surprised.

He already knew Luciel was strong. The way he fought the mutant birds yesterday had been clean, efficient, and almost elegant.

With just one or two swipes of his sword, the mutant birds dropped. Nathan couldn't help but admire it. He really wanted to be able to do something that cool—but unfortunately, he wasn't that good with swords yet.

His control over fire, especially forming it into stable shapes, wasn't very consistent either, especially when it came to maintaining them for a long time. So he couldn't pull off the same things Luciel did.

Luciel was undeniably powerful, but it often went unnoticed because most of the time, he didn't do much of anything.

He didn't join in killing zombies or mutant animals during regular missions. He also didn't train with them. Most of the time, he was either resting or doing something leisurely.

The only times they ever saw Luciel take action were during emergencies or when he was clearly pissed off.

They rarely got to see Luciel fight, so they didn't actually know how he compared to the others in terms of strength.

That's why everyone was clearly excited when Treyton agreed to spar with him. They all moved quickly, clearing the training space to make enough room for the match.

Nathan already expected the spar between Treyton and Luciel to be intense. Luciel was strong, but so was Treyton.

Treyton always made an effort to participate in battles when needed, and Nathan had seen firsthand just how powerful he was.

But Luciel, who could fight alone in the middle of a flock of mutant birds without any backup, was on another level too.

They had even agreed to fight for real, to treat each other as enemies they had to kill, so Nathan had expected it to be intense.

However, he had still underestimated just how intense it would actually be.

As soon as their fight began, twenty minutes had already passed, and the two of them were still clashing aggressively without even a single pause.

From the moment their blades met for the first time, neither had stopped moving.

Both were completely focused on the fight, constantly watching for openings and calculating how to land a decisive blow.

Their strikes were so sharp and decisive that even the spectators, like Aunt Cana and the kids, were visibly worried that Luciel or Treyton might get seriously hurt if one of them failed to block a hit.

But there was no need to worry. Treyton and Luciel seemed to instinctively know that their attacks would be blocked by the other.

They were both incredibly skilled, not only at exploiting opportunities to land a critical strike but also at reading the other's intentions and defending in time.

So, they probably already knew if the other person could block the strike they were delivering.

Even after twenty minutes of nonstop fighting, they were still moving, still attacking, still keeping up the same fierce pace.

"Wow! Brother Luciel and Big Brother Treyton are really powerful!" Ashlee exclaimed.

"So strong! I want to be like them too!" Sophie added, clapping enthusiastically.

"Yes, let's train more so we can be as strong as them," Ashlee replied with a determined voice.

The other kids didn't say anything, but it was clear from their expressions that they were thinking the same thing.

Even Nathan's nephew, who usually didn't show much interest in fighting and had never been enthusiastic during their daily physical training, was now watching Luciel and Treyton's sparring match with serious eyes.

And when Ashlee mentioned training more to become as strong as Treyton and Luciel, Nash actually nodded in agreement.

It seemed he hadn't been interested in training because he had never witnessed what real strength looked like. Now that he was finally seeing it firsthand, he seemed genuinely motivated to start practicing and becoming stronger.

From the very beginning of the battle until now, the kids, and even some of the others, had been continuously praising Luciel and Treyton.

Occasionally, they even started debating who would win in the end.

But no matter how the argument went, no one could convince the others. The fight was just too evenly matched for anyone to be sure.

Seeing such an intense fight, Nathan couldn't help but wonder who would win in the end. Unfortunately, there were still no clues yet, Luciel and Treyton's battle seemed far from over, and it was impossible to tell who had the upper hand.

Well, when it came to fighting, Nathan knew he wasn't that skilled yet compared to the others, so he wasn't sure if his judgment was even accurate.

But seeing Zam, Wes, and the others still watching the match with serious expressions and without showing any strong reactions, it seemed clear that there was still no clear winner.

Aside from Treyton's former bodyguards like Zam and the others, most of the team hadn't been exposed to as much actual combat, so Nathan didn't fully trust his own observations.

Even so, while he wasn't sure if he could properly understand the finer details of the ongoing battle, one thing was obvious: for now, Luciel and Treyton were still fighting on equal footing.

"Woah—" the kids in front couldn't help but back away slightly as Luciel and Treyton suddenly moved closer to their side of the room.

Luciel and Treyton hadn't stayed confined to the center of the training area. They were moving constantly, circling around and using every bit of space they could find to create distance or force an opening.

Even though none of the spectators had been in any real danger, the kids had already backed away several times and returned just as quickly, following the rhythm of the spar with wide eyes.

Just as everyone was intently watching, Luciel and Treyton abruptly stopped for a moment, only to suddenly clash again, this time with faster movements and noticeably more complex attacks.
