Thriller!Me? The Death Knight

Chapter 18: Gluttony Kid, Tears of Capital

"Goodbye, Director He!"

Yi Bai beamed with satisfaction, having just accepted five hidden tasks, each worth 1,000 ghost coins. That's a cool 5,000 ghost coins in total—enough to make any human player rich. For most veteran players, that amount of ghost coins is almost unimaginable. After all, surviving in the terrifying game means spending coins, and the game's Shop is a black hole where most of the rewards go. But with those tasks completed, Yi Bai would be rolling in wealth, a hidden tycoon in the world of ghosts and monsters.

In the real world, a single ghost coin could be exchanged for 100,000 in cash. It's a small fortune by any standard, and the potential is staggering.

With a smirk, Yi Bai strutted out, the corpse-eating ghoul following obediently behind him. Meanwhile, Director He's face was dark with fury, his mood sinking further by the second.

He grabbed the phone on his desk and dialed a number he'd hoped to avoid.

"Beep… Beep…"

The phone picked up.

"Hello, is this Mr. Ralph?" He asked cautiously.

"I am Mr. Ralph's servant. What is your business?" A cold, detached voice responded on the other end.

"I'm Dr. He Yi, the chief physician at the Third Hospital. I have a matter to discuss..."

"You don't need to ask," the voice cut him off, "Mr. Ralph has already made his decision. It will not change."

The line went dead before He Yi could speak further. He heard nothing but the busy signal, and his anger boiled over, mixing with a deep sense of panic.

If it were just a bloodthirsty, red-clad ghost like the Stitching Monster, He Yi might have been worried, but he wasn't helpless. He had connections, power. But the problem was Mr. Ralph's father—the man who created the Stitching Monster—was even more terrifying. His power was far beyond the likes of the Rose Count.

"No, I can't just sit here and do nothing! I've still got connections!" He Yi's eyes gleamed with determination. He thought of his "partners." His long-time smuggling of Third Hospital's resources had given him access to a network of shady dealings. Behind this network were individuals with backgrounds even more influential than He Yi's.

Meanwhile, Yi Bai had already reached the Third Ward, standing outside the room of the special patient tied to one of his hidden tasks.

Lina remained hidden by his side, the ghoul trailing obediently behind them. Yi Bai didn't rush inside. Instead, he peered through the small window on the door to get a better look.

Inside, there was only one occupant—an obese man who was devouring everything in sight. He shoved food into his mouth like a ravenous beast, chewing minimally before swallowing it whole. Watching the gluttonous display was enough to send chills down anyone's spine.

Patient in Third Hospital: Kid

Race: Gluttony Demon

Affection Level: Neutral (He hasn't noticed you yet, but once he does, he'll probably try to eat you.)

Strength: Peak Evil Spirit

Likes: Overeating

Weakness: Overeating (Poisoning him is ridiculously easy.)

Current Status: Hungry. So hungry. So, so hungry! (The Gluttony Demon isn't impossible to satisfy. However, someone has placed a small teleportation array in his stomach, so no matter what he eats, it gets sent to a garbage dump. If the array is destroyed, he can finally feel full.)

Yi Bai muttered under his breath, "Looks like He Yi's behind this one too." He couldn't help but admire the director's deviousness. The teleportation array inside the Gluttony Demon's stomach was a genius move. It ensured the hospital's food and consultation fees kept coming in, no matter how much the demon ate. It was a perfect cash cow.

"Capitalists would weep with envy," Yi Bai chuckled to himself.

"Lina."

"Yes?"

"This guy looks like trouble. Can you subdue him while I handle the diagnosis?"

"Got it."

Without wasting any time, Yi Bai decided to take a more direct approach. Lina, with her terrifying power as a red-clad ghost, easily overpowered Kid the Glutton. A surgical scalpel gleamed under her control, hovering ominously near Kid's head. Despite his hunger, the Gluttony Demon was too smart to make a move—he wasn't foolish enough to risk death before he had his fill.

Yi Bai put on gloves and began his "diagnosis," though he wasn't about to touch the greasy, obese hands of the demon.

"Mr. Gluttony Demon, it seems your stomach has a small issue. Don't worry, it's easy to fix. After this, you won't always be plagued by hunger."

"Really, doctor?!" Kid's eyes filled with hope, and his killing intent vanished in an instant, replaced by eager longing. His massive form squirmed in excitement, making the bed creak under his weight.

"Just a minor procedure," Yi Bai replied with confidence, then signaled Lina. He whispered his plan to her, and with a wink, she raised her fingers.

Lina's slender, delicate fingers made an elegant arc in the air, and the scalpel flashed with cold light. With a precise motion, it pierced through the thick layers of fat around Kid's stomach, destroying the teleportation array in one strike.

Once the array was gone, Kid's stomach could finally work as intended.

Yi Bai stepped back, looking at the heap of food beside Kid. "Try it now. You should be able to eat your fill."

Without hesitation, the Gluttony Demon grabbed fistfuls of food and stuffed them into his mouth, swallowing without chewing. Bite after bite, his hunger seemed endless.

Minutes passed, and Yi Bai's patience was tested as he watched Kid gorge himself. The bed was crushed under his massive weight, and Yi Bai was starting to wonder if Lina had made a mistake.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Kid stopped. His face was bloated and content, and he looked at Yi Bai with tears in his eyes.

"Doctor! You're a miracle worker! I haven't felt this full in ages! Thank you!" Kid sobbed, his eyes filled with gratitude.

Yi Bai nodded, the Gluttony Demon's affection level now skyrocketing to trust. Another ghostly ally.

"Alright, let's go. We've got another patient to see."

As Yi Bai turned to leave, a sudden voice stopped him.

"Wait! Please wait!"

To his surprise, it was Kid, crying uncontrollably as he called after them.
