"My Mistake."
Chapter 83 "My Mistake."
"I believe I understand now," Dahdin said after grasping the situation from the brief retelling. He let his guard down around Aleshia, bid his goodbyes, and left to observe the distortions further, leaving them alone.
When Aleshia saw the wolf bounding towards the other slabs, she felt safe to speak. She asked Lucia about the strange otherworldly magics she and the wolf were conjuring and inquired why and how they were shooting them at the mysterious slabs. Although she had a pretty good guess about why they were shooting those conjuring's, she still wanted it explained from the source.
Lucia paused to consider Aleshia's question. After a few moments, she briefly explained what they were doing. "Dahdin and I are trying to prevent the mana or nature in this area from being destroyed because of my mistake."
Aleshia was surprised to hear that they were in so much danger. Shock crossed her face, but doubt soon crept in. "Are you saying that these slabs will cause this entire area to become mana-less?" "Possibly," Lucia concluded. As her words were resounding, she suddenly spoke once again. "Wait, hold on. Slabs? There isn't anything that looks remotely like slabs anywhere near us." Lucia was confused and looked around. All she saw were the distortions, visible as ever. She looked back at Aleshia and then asked her about the slabs again. "I don't see any slabs near us. Are you sure you are seeing right?"
Lucia's question prompted Aleshia to turn around. The slabs were clear as day to her. "My eyes are seeing right. Just look at where I am pointing," Aleshia then gestured towards the slabs. "This is where the slabs I see are." Lucia then looked in the direction Aleshia pointed to. All she saw were the distortions. "I still don't see anything you have described. I only see a shattered landscape." Lucia watched the distortions closely, as if waiting for an animal to peek out of the distortion.
But despite her efforts, Aleshia could not see anything she had described. Meanwhile, the Green Wolf Dahdin closely watched a distortion as it repeatedly changed, shifting between liquid, solid, and sludge. His gaze moved from one distortion to another, all in different locations and distances. Some were even far enough away they were able to exceed the vision of any human. Dahdin concluded that those distortions could go that far because of the power they indirectly expelled.
