Chapter 15: Full Moon
It was no news that the full moon was of a special significance in the life of some creatures. The werewolfdom wasn't excluded. It was said that they absorbed great strength from the moon. That being said, the werewolves were at their mightiest, during the appearance of the full moon.
The Full moon was usually well prepared for because, at their mightiest, some of them tend to become more dangerous and may fight to kill one another.
The Kingdom of Oregania prepared for the full moon appearance they were expecting that night. They usually gathered together at the full moon and howled together under the moon which they worshipped. It was a beautiful tradition for them, as it helped maintain their oneness and togetherness. King Cashito had instructed the warriors to make sure the kingdom boundaries fortified. Although no one would dare enter a wolf's lyre during the appearance of the moon as they knew they were at their best at that time. But, one could never really be too careful.
The dancers prepared for their moon dance display. It was traditional that the crown prince or princess participated. As they were to lead the moon dance which was like a ritual in the werewolfdom.
For the fourteenth time, Tahira fell on her back trying to get the twist involved in the moon dance. Queen Sabrina sighed in frustration. She couldn't just get it right. Tahira was truly a bad dancer but where had she gotten it from. Queen Sabrina knew that during her time when king Cashito usually led the dance, she was among the dancers that followed.
Tahira here was hopeless. She was hoping there could be a way to not join in the dance but she had no escape route.
"Let's try it again mother" she said, already sweating profusely. She was not about to give up on a dance.
"No my dear, we shall rest now." Queen Sabrina said as she signalled one of the maids to get her some water. She sat on the soft bench that was in the room and gulped down the water as it was brought to her.
"I wonder how you keep forgetting the dance steps each time, even when you've been doing the same dance since you came of age." Queen Sabrina said in dissatisfaction.
"Yes mother, I did it every time but catastrophically. I've never gotten it right." Tahira said in her defense.
Just then one if the servants entered the room and whispered to the Queen.
"Bring it in", she said. "Right on time", she added.
Soon a middle aged woman entered the room with a younger girl who seemed to be struggling with the item in her possession.
"My Queen, my Princess" the woman greeted with a bow.
"Madam Latisha, right on time", the Queen responded.
"May we see the dress", the Queen asked getting straight to the point.
"Penelope, set down the dress" the woman ordered the younger girl behind her who seemed to be mute the entire time. She hadn't be to the castle before, and hadn't been this close the Queen and the infamous princess.
"Yes madam", she answered timidly. While opening up the coat in which the dress had been covered. She set the dress on her body so that the features of the dress could be seen. It was a red dress, studded with pearls.
Tahira looked at the dress which she couldn't help but find beautiful. Few weeks back they had come to get her measurements for this dress and even without trying it on, she thought it was the perfect dress for her. The dress didn't look too fancy but not too full. It was just lying in between. The way she liked it. She felt that virtue truly lies in the middle. She had felt too that you can't tell it wrong by being in the middle.
"Go on, go and try it on and see if it fits." Queen Sabrina said.
Tahira took the dress from the Penelope girl and walked behind the divider to change into it.
"Would you be needing a hand milady?" Madam Latisha asked her.
"I do not, thank you." She replied politely.
Soon Tahira walked out of the divider and walked around in her dress . Trying to see if it fits. She made her way to the front of the mirror and she simply fell in love with the dress.
"You look lovely my princess." Madam Latisha said full of smiles. It was obvious she was proud of her work.
"You've done a really nice work, I must say", Queen Sabrina complimented.
Soon the dressmaker left the room and it was just Tahira and the Queen.
"Now, let's perform the dance in this dress this instant shall we?" Queen Sabrina said while standing again.
"Mother, I'm not ready, I'd ruin the dress!" Tahira had said in distortion.
"Then you perform it this night in a ruined dress" Queen Sabrina retorted.
Tokrantho....
It's been few weeks since he got back from Oregania and he was fully recovered. He sat on his desk in his Chambers. It was going to be a full moon that night. Everyone prepared for it. The palace was busy as expected. The last full moon had been chaotic for him. Two female werewolves had gone berserk and had wanted to mate him. They were both locked up in a cage in which they gnashed and tore at each other till the morning came. They were both released and they snuck out of the castle because judging with Khan's temper, they both would have been dead even before they got the chance to lay a finger on him.As soon as thought of the girls, the face of the first princess of Oregania emerged on his head.
"Beautiful", he said and widened his eyes in shock as he had not expected him to say out loud and inner thought. And, did he find her beautiful? Just then a surge of hatred erupted through his body. He didn't want to hate her, but he just can't help but hate her. Was this natural? He thought, he didn't seem to think she was that bad. He just knew he couldn't stand her, more like it was programmed.
His heart oddly yearned for her presence, but his body and his will didn't seem to think so. Sometimes, he felt he was overreacting and would try to get a grip on himself, but, that only made him feel like there's a battle going on through his mind, body and head. It gave him migraine. At this point he thought it was best to let go of the girl and stop thinking about her but could he? Infact, that was his greatest fear, would he be able to let go of Tahira Von Druelli?
