The Were in The Wolf

Chapter 14: The Chase

"I guess we'll have to open the borders" the other king said to King Cashito, not bothering with the conversation the others have been on. He cut another chunk of meat from his plate and placed it in his mouth, gradually chewing and savouring the taste.

"It seems you enjoy the steak" said King Cashito.

"That's right" he said with a smile on his face and continued,

"It reminds me of the first time I came to Oregania, when I was much younger. I had snuck out of the carriage, hoping to look around the village before heading to the palace. It was quite eventful, as I had met a woman who sold meat. I didn't have money to buy and salivated before the meat. She ended up giving me a chunk out of pity, thinking I was a homeless child. Her little daughter had been annoyed because it seemed her mother had given me the share meant for her." He completed with a hearty laughter.

King Cashito was lost in thought with his narration. He seemed a bit lost in thought and it was impossible for one to miss the look on his face as Tahira had noticed it.

Soon the meal was finished. As they were excused from the table, Tahira went upstairs, not wanting to spend another moment there. Kalispel and her mother were set to finalize they conversation with Khan's family by any means.

Queen Sabrina ordered the servants to clear up and place back their wares in the appropriate place.

They departed that night as they didn't want to garner more attention to themselves. They were two carriages. The King and Queen rode on one, while Khan rode on the other.

Inside the carriage Khan pondered about the negative attraction he felt for Tahira, a part of him wanted to hold her dearly, another force in him wanted to pushed her away.

She was interesting, he had dreamt she was his mate but could that be possible? His mate was already in Tokrantho.

The girl was sweet and obedient. Any male would wish to have her, but this Tahira was just too stubborn.

Oregania was a beautiful kingdom and they had a very powerful defense. It was like the capital of all the werewolf Kingdom. If it fell, the werewolf Kingdom was most likely to fall. At this point, he had to agree that Tahira's stubbornness was needed to be a proper leader of this kingdom. Her father, King Cashito was already making sure of that.

He opened up the carriage door a bit, the night glistened with the singing of the crickets heard on every corner. The stars Shone brightly on the sky that night. Suddenly a gust of wind flashed past him.

"Hmm..." He said. It looked quite suspicious. The night was not chilly. And he definitely saw something move. Could it be a running deer? He sat back on the carriage and closed the door.

Tahira's Chambers....

Tahira turned for the fourth time on her bed. She couldn't sleep. She didn't know why she was restless. She decided to not force it anymore. She slid gently out of her bed covers. She went to the window and pulled the blinds aside. The sky looked beautiful as she had expected. It wasn't a full moon it was a crescent Moon. She closed her eyes as she drew the little energy from the moon. Her eyes glistened red immediately.

The sight would have been said to be demonic, for it was a clear image of an extremely beautiful woman in her white undergarments. The reflection of the heavenly bodies Shone on her. Her eyes glistened red. What could describe the phenomenon? An immaculate young lady with a demonic pair of eyes? Enjoying the feel, she let out a mesmerizing smile. The night was definitely her favorite period of time. The moment was cut short by a gust of wind. She quickly jerked her head towards the direction. She saw the movement. What type of animal moved this quick?

She didn't linger to find out as she quickly shifted to her cat form, and off the window she leaped. She landed where she could till she felt the soil. Not wasting anymore time she ran very quickly towards the direction the wind had gone. She ran as fast as she could but she couldn't notice any further movement.

The thick forest was as quiet and calm as it had been. The sudden silence felt suspicious to her. She tried to listen with her cat sense. She felt something and as she was about to turn she felt a huge impact on her head as she fell and shifted form, before going unconscious.

It was already at the wee hours of the morning. The chilly wind struck her skin as she shivered. She gently opened her eyes and winced at the sharp pain she felt on her back.

She held onto the root of a tree beside her and got up. Who had attacked her? Were they from her Kingdom? Was it a were wolf? She touched the back of her hair, and felt the dried up blood.

The Queen must not find out about this she thought. She made her way back to the palace. As she stepped further, she felt a strange metal object on the floor. She picked it up and saw that it was a locket.

She opened the locket and saw the strange face of a man, she scented the locket but she couldn't perceive a werewolf scent, the man in the picture didn't seem like a werewolf too.

All these confirmed her suspicion. She didn't want to waste time any further as she didn't want the palace to look for her.

She shifted form and ran as fast as she could to the castle.

She snuck into her room and went to take a shower because she looked a mess. She Slid back to the bed covers and tried to get a proper rest before she was sought for. She had the pillows close to herself and smiled before drifting to sleep. Her life had always been adventurous and she enjoyed it. But what she didn't know was that more was yet to come, more interesting and greatly dangerous. She was also oblivious to the fact that she was being watched. She tranced into her dream of when she was still younger. Her grandmother was still alive and the garden looked more beautiful than it already was. She saw her mother who had more colour on her face chasing after her as she made to run from it. Her mother finally caught up with her and planted a soft kiss on her face. Which she laughed to, then she felt something snatch her mother from her and took her away, while she ran after them in tears, darkness fell all over.
