The Unruly Immortals

Chapter 896 On the Road

Li Huowang stood in place, his whole body cold, suppressing the anger in his heart as he looked at Qing Wanglai, who spoke those words.

The other's words were so sincere that if Li Huowang didn't know this guy's background, he would almost have believed they were genuinely heartfelt.

Although he had long known that Qing Wanglai was a wolf in sheep's clothing, whenever it manifested, Li Huowang was still taken aback.

To deal with the enemy, he could use his companions as bait without blinking an eye.

"You, you all!!" Li Huowang shook his head, wanting to say something, but in the end, he didn't say a word.

He turned his head, coming before the bloodied and gruesome face of Chen Hongyu, trembling as he reached out to support her corpse.

"Sister Chen, how could you just die like this? You are the Fate Commander who governs decay!"

"You can't die! If you die, decay will disappear again....."

Regarding Chen Hongyu, Li Huowang always inexplicably thought of the Master. But just like with Qian Fu, watching those who once spoke to him die lightly like this made him feel really uncomfortable inside.

"Enough, get ready, we proceed."

Feeling someone patting his shoulder, Li Huowang forcefully raised his hand, shaking off the other's hand.

He turned his head, glaring at the owner of the hand, Zhao Shuangdian.

Zhao Shuangdian did not explain anything, calmly looking back at Li Huowang and saying again: "What did I say before I came? Follow orders, no matter what happens. We don't have time to grieve."

Staring into her eyes, Li Huowang slowly put down Chen Hongyu. "You're all the same! All of you are the same! You're also responsible for Chen Hongyu's death!"

With a clack, the dark sniper rifle muzzle was pressed against Li Huowang's chest, "Don't forget what I said before. Li Huowang, I'm confirming one more time, are you refusing to follow my orders?"

"If you refuse to obey, whether you realize it or not, you're already one of them."

After Zhao Shuangdian said this, her men, whether the two guys they just met or the siblings with the surname Ba, all surrounded Li Huowang with cold expressions.

Li Huowang looked at them, gritting his teeth, his hands gripping the knife handle tightly.

As the tension rose, Qing Wanglai emerged from the side and blocked between Li Huowang and Zhao Shuangdian.

He smiled and patted Li Huowang's shoulder, nudging him away from their encirclement.

"Li Huowang, this won't do. It doesn't matter if you offend me, but if you offend Zhao Shuangdian, then you really won't have any friends."

"I remember you said we're not friends, right? But as a friend, could you do me a favor?" Qing Wanglai's words were incredibly sincere.

"Who the hell is friends with you?"

Qing Wanglai wasn't angry at Li Huowang's temperament. He still spoke with immense sincerity, "As long as you don't go against Zhao Shuangdian at this time, we can work together to get through this crisis, and when we get back, we can figure out a way to deal with her."

Li Huowang coldly pondered for a moment, then forcefully pushed Qing Wanglai aside, silently returning to the group.

Seeing Li Huowang's attitude, the others dispersed, returning to their original positions. Apart from Chen Hongyu lying on the ground, nothing had changed.

"Sister Zhao, I checked those two dead bodies; they were poachers." The bearded man carrying a seemingly heavy firearm returned from afar.

"Poachers? Using something that can destroy a tank to poach?"

Li Huowang's words received no response. Zhao Shuangdian kneeled down, her fingers swiftly tapping away on the laptop that had fallen to the ground. "We're almost there, just a bit more."

Li Huowang silently walked behind her, seeing a blue 3D mesh map on the computer screen, constantly changing with her typing.

With a snap, the laptop closed, and Zhao Shuangdian stood up. "We need to speed up and reach there before their reinforcements react."

"Which way do we go?" Qing Wanglai asked.

Zhao Shuangdian didn't answer, instead looking at Li Huowang.

"Why are you looking at me? How the hell would I know which way to go?"

"Hmm, you know. As I said before, you're very special, lead the way." Zhao Shuangdian's words directed all attention to Li Huowang.

"I don't even know where this is; how can I lead you?" At this moment, Li Huowang found the situation in front of him utterly absurd.

"You don't need to know where this is. Just follow your instincts."

Zhao Shuangdian's words left Li Huowang speechless. He thought others would refuse this absurd proposal, but no one seemed to object.

"I must have been out of my mind before; I actually trusted you." With that, Li Huowang set off into the darkness, with the others quickly following.

On the pitch-black and vague desert, Li Huowang followed his instincts, though in such an environment, using or not using instincts made no difference as the path couldn't be seen anyway.

Gradually, as dawn broke, they walked all night, yet they were still on this desolate desert, with no change in the surroundings.

Li Huowang forcefully pushed away the others blocking him, struggling to remove the helmet from his head, revealing a face covered in sweat, "I'm tired! Rest for a while!"

Having said that, Li Huowang didn't care about them and directly laid down.

After wearing this gear and stumbling around in the dark all night, following a taxing journey earlier, Li Huowang's stamina had reached its limit.

Wu Qi came over, took a bottle of clear liquid from the medical kit, and handed it over, "Replenish some fluids, don't get dehydrated."

"What's this?"

"Saline solution for rinsing wounds."

Li Huowang took it and gulped it down. It was a bit salty, but after drinking, his body felt much better.

Taking a deep breath, Li Huowang looked at the woman in front of him with a very complex expression, "Sister Chen is really dead."

"I know." Wu Qi took the water from Li Huowang, raised her head, and drank a big gulp.

Then, with a slight sadness on her face, she reached out and gently touched Li Huowang's damp hair, "It's okay, don't be afraid."

"Sister Wu, I'm not afraid, I just can't understand them, or you."

"If you can't understand, try not to, just focus on yourself. Being too empathetic can lead to depression."

"Focus on myself....." Li Huowang took the bottle again and drank another big gulp.

Looking at the desolate desert around him, he muttered, "Why is the place where God Yu'er exists so strange? Is this really the elephant where those Fate Commanders lived?"
