"Thanks." Li Huowang quickly donned the bulletproof vest with their help.

Facing the unknown enemy situation, wearing this gives a lot more peace of mind.

"Don't thank us; it was Qing Wanglai who prepared it for you, knowing you definitely wouldn't bring one."

Seeing Li Huowang looking at him, Qing Wanglai, who was loading his pistol, nodded and smiled at him.

"Wu Qi, do you really trust Qing Wanglai? Do you honestly know what kind of person he is? Don't tell me you haven't noticed." Li Huowang looked at Wu Qi, who seemed more normal than the others,

"Of course, I can see clearly." Wu Qi picked up a helmet and placed it on Li Huowang's head.

"But don't you find dealing with someone like him quite simple? As long as you can understand his way of doing things."

Wu Qi tapped Li Huowang's helmet. "Li Huowang, don't think Zhao Shuangdian is much better; there's no one normal here."

Upon hearing this, Li Huowang said no more, shifting his gaze to Wu Qi and Zhao Shuangdian's weapons.

Wu Qi seemed weaponless, opting to carry a medical box; it looked like she planned to play the battlefield medic this time.

As for Chen Hongyu, she pulled out a wolf fang club wrapped in spikes from the trunk.

"We're about to face off; are you really using that?" Li Huowang asked.

Chen Hongyu shook her head indifferently. "No worries, I don't rely on this; I have special abilities."

Li Huowang bowed his head, letting out a deep sigh, before walking away from her.

He approached Zhao Shuangdian and watched her adjusting the sniper rifle's sight. "What's the next move?"

"Follow her." Li Huowang followed her polished red fingernail pointing toward a frail girl standing nearby, her face occasionally twitching.

Unlike the others, she wasn't holding any weapon but was tapping quickly on a tablet computer.

Everything was ready; as everyone gathered, she reiterated to them, "Remember, from now on, listen to my command; do not question or refute it."

"No matter what world you see now, remember a few things: first, we are all on the same side, never betray your teammates."

"Also, have no mercy; any hostile presence must be handled."

"Lastly, keep in mind that we are now outside the elephant while they are inside."

After saying this, Zhao Shuangdian nodded to the girl, who immediately took out VR goggles connected to the tablet and put them on.

With the goggles on, she began searching the dark desert.

Despite it being night, it wasn't pitch black; everything around teetered between invisible and hazy.

Li Huowang dragged his heavy clothing forward, gripping the knife handles tightly, ready to charge at any enemy.

"Is this really feasible? Can we truly approach the other elephant this way?"

Li Huowang harbored some doubts about Zhao Shuangdian's words.

Yet, doubt aside, he planned to give his all, treating everything as hypothetical until proven tangible.

Without seeing tangible evidence, whatever they said remained hypothetical, not real.

But what Li Huowang hadn't anticipated was the prolonged and lengthy search; after nearly an hour of wandering in the desert, they found no trace of anything.

Just then, Li Huowang noticed something and seized Zhao Lei's flashlight, shining it on the ground, "Wait!"

Upon Li Huowang's call, everyone gathered around. "Look! There are footprints on the ground, and they're ours; we've been circling!"

Zhao Shuangdian lowered her sunglasses one inch, looked at Li Huowang's concealed face beneath the helmet, and said slowly, "Follow orders."

Li Huowang said no more, tossed the flashlight aside, and continued following ahead with his head down.

He couldn't understand how circling outside the elephant would lead them inside.

After another hour of walking, Li Huowang began feeling tired; though moving slowly, the gear on his body truly felt heavy and cumbersome.

A sudden shot rang out, instantly dispelling Li Huowang's fatigue; he turned swiftly and saw Zhao Shuangdian lowering the sniper gun from Ba Shengqing's shoulder.

Li Huowang immediately gripped his weapon, sprinting toward the direction of the gunshot.

The large pool of blood on the ground shocked Li Huowang; given the blood loss, a person's vital fluids were presumably depleted, yet the ability to flee was incredible.

Zhao Shuangdian dipped a finger in the blood on the ground and put it in her mouth to taste. "They know we're here."

"Beware, our enemy isn't just from one direction; we still don't know from which side they'll attack first."

"Ling, how's it going? Are we almost there?" Zhao Shuangdian addressed the girl still wearing the goggles.

"The elephant is intangible—"

She had barely spoken when a bullet shredded her tongue and shot out from her mouth.

The girl's head exploded entirely, half of her terror-stricken face falling limp at Li Huowang's feet.

"Get down! They have anti-material snipers!" As the headless body hit the ground, nearly everyone dove prone, except Chen Hongyu, who stood working her powers.

"Mmm... mmm...!!" Sinking her energy into the Dantian, Chen Hongyu was tackled by Li Huowang. "Are you trying to kill yourself?!"

"Don't stop me! Let me use my power!!"

Firmly pinning down Chen Hongyu, Li Huowang silently cursed Qing Wanglai countless times; bringing a lunatic here was utterly useless.

"Let her go; she has a solution." Upon hearing Qing Wanglai's words, Zhao Shuangdian repeated, and with some hesitation, Li Huowang rolled off Chen Hongyu.

Prone on the ground, Li Huowang watched Chen Hongyu rise; he desperately wanted to know how she'd resolve this crisis.

"Clap clap clap" flashlights lit her, making her prominent in the dark surroundings.

As Chen Hongyu meditated and activated her powers suspended in mid-air, gunfire erupted again, and Chen Hongyu fell in response.

"Eleven o'clock direction!" Zhao Shuangdian's voice had barely dropped when everyone equipped with guns quickly turned and fired in that direction.

When the shooting paused, a red flare was tossed over, illuminating two corpses in the distance.

Li Huowang looked at Chen Hongyu, lying motionless on the ground, clenching his teeth and glaring at Zhao Shuangdian and Qing Wanglai. "Your solution was using her as bait, isn't it?!"

"No, she has special abilities; I choose to trust her." Qing Wanglai smiled at Li Huowang.
