The Top Fishing Master

The ingredients look luxurious, but the cooking method is very simple.

I guess high-end ingredients often just require the most basic cooking techniques.

Bear paws and fish are pretty much just grilled, but the seasonings are not as rich as back home.

There's also an Emperor Crab that Big Beard specially flew over by helicopter from a port in the eastern Kamchatka. The price of Emperor Crab isn't expensive locally, and if you want to eat it, it can be supplied daily.

And they're fresh and lively.

In the late autumn season of the high-latitude regions in the Northern Hemisphere, it gets dark much faster.

By the time we finished preparing dinner, it was already completely dark.

"Dinner time~"

At Brother Zhang's command, everyone gathered around.

Each person got a small portion of the four bear paws. After Ivan's grilling, the bear paws were a golden brown with some unknown spices sprinkled on top, looking pretty good.

The taste, however, wasn't much of a surprise. Lin Yang had tried it before, but his method was quite different.

This time it felt similar to the taste of roasted pig trotters from street vendors, just with a bit more bouncy texture.

The Emperor Crab was also very good. Even when simply boiled, fresh Emperor Crab tastes fantastic, and you can eat as much as you want until you're full.

"Everyone, rest up early. We'll be spending most of the time climbing tomorrow!"

According to the plan, the itinerary for the second day was to see snow-capped mountains and volcanoes!

After eating and drinking their fill, everyone gathered around the bonfire for a chat before returning to their respective rooms to rest.

Having drifted along the river all day, they were quite exhausted and soon fell into a deep sleep.

The next day, the group didn't split up. They all took a helicopter to a suitable spot and started climbing the mountain.

The day passed quickly.....

Except for Lin Yang, everyone else ended up with sore backs and legs.

Fortunately, the third day was still about fishing, and most of the time, everyone just needed to sit on the rubber boat.

The fishing continued as they drifted east along the stream. The fish were the same, but those downstream were stronger and more powerful compared to those upstream, making the experience much better than the first day.

The fourth day was hunting.

Lin Yang experienced his first opportunity in life to use firearms.

Not every college student gets to handle guns during military training, and Lin Yang was among those who didn't.

Unfortunately, during their hunting trip, they didn't encounter any brown bears. Although they saw rabbits a few times, those little guys ran faster than rabbits, and combined with their small size, the inexperienced shooters returned without hitting any animals, feeling a bit disappointed.

On the seventh day, the last day, the group arrived at a port in the eastern Kamchatka Peninsula.

They were preparing to fish at sea, catch crabs, and catch Emperor Crabs!

"Brother Zhang, I remember that Emperor Crabs are only found in the Alaska Sea and Siberian Sea areas, right? Are there any here in Kamchatka?"

Lin Yang's understanding of the Emperor Crab, a species not found in his country, was very limited.

However, the group planned to go out to sea by boat. Starting from Kamchatka, it wouldn't be possible to reach the Alaska Sea in a day.

"Not really, over there is the main production area where they are larger and of higher quality, but naturally, it's also harder to catch. The sea near Kamchatka also has Emperor Crabs; they're just not as big and not as abundant, but catching them for fun to eat ourselves is fine."

After six days of traveling, although everyone was mentally and physically exhausted, they were very excited about the crab fishing trip today. The Emperor Crab, which is expensive back home, can actually be caught with a fishing rod here.

It's amazing just thinking about it.

In anticipation, the group boarded a fishing boat heading to the target sea area.

To be on the safe side, after reaching the target area, the captain first put down a few crab traps.

After all, crab fishing, like fishing, relies on a bit of luck, and there's no guarantee of catching anything.

Crab traps are a fallback measure just in case they don't catch enough for lunch.

After the fishing boat moved slightly away from the spot where the traps were set, they dropped anchor and prepared to start fishing and crabbing.

Yue'er wasn't very interested in fishing, but she was quite interested in crabbing, especially for Emperor Crabs. She eagerly prepared her fishing rod.

To increase her catch rate, Lin Yang rigged up a crab-catching divine artifact for her.

Calling it a divine artifact, it's simply wrapping a broken fishing net around the fishing hook and bait, like a wild binding. When an Emperor Crab comes to the bait, its claws get entangled in the net, making it hard to escape.

People who often fish at sea must have encountered crabs that get away just as they are pulled out of the water. Out of this grudge and creativity, some fishers developed this crab-catching divine artifact.

After setting up Yue'er's gear, Lin Yang also prepared a crab-catching divine artifact to start crabbing.

For bait, they used sardines, plentiful at the port. The bait in the captain's crab traps was also made of these small fish.

They hung the whole fish on the hook, wrapped it with a layer of fishing net, and, along with the sinker, let it sink to the sea floor, waiting for the crabs to bite.

The next step was to gently...ahem, lift the rod slightly.

When fishing for crabs, unlike with fish, you should not jerk the rod to hook the crab.

Crabs have small mouths and rarely swallow the hook. They usually hug the bait and nibble slowly, so if you jerk the rod, you might either get lucky and hook the crab's body or, more likely, pull the crab off the bait with too much force.
