Chapter 356: Fishing for Emperor Crab
Lin Yang quickly untangled the fishing line wrapped around himself, tidied up the fishing gear, and then nonchalantly moved over to Wang Bo.
"It really is that brown bear, Brother Cai, your fishing rod is back! Fly fishing is quite fun!"
"We can play fly fishing together when we have time, huh? I've seen a lot of fishing, but fishing for a bear, now that's a first for me."
Xu Kun took the fishing rod Lin Yang handed over, expressing his astonishment.
"Fishing for a bear is no big deal, let me tell you, back in the day, I even fished up people!"
Talking about his achievements, Lin Yang enthusiastically continued.
"???"
Xu Kun was immediately stunned. Fish for people?
"Ahem, just kidding." Lin Yang chuckled.
"Oh dear, what the hell."
Just then, Wang Bo suddenly broke the unexpected silence in the air with a shout.
The fishing line in his hand snapped!
Earlier, while casting, Wang Bo had cast upstream and hooked the brown bear stuck in the river; due to the current, it could just barely be pulled.
Now it had moved directly in front, just downstream from him, and under the force of the water, the line was under too much tension and snapped.
Seeing the brown bear in the river slowly moving downstream with the flowing water, Wang Bo couldn't just stand by as the bear was about to slip away.
He immediately dropped the fishing rod, and without even taking off his pants, he waded into the river, going after the slowly moving brown bear.
This brown bear had soaked in the water long enough to surely have no signs of life. Even so, as Wang Bo approached, he hesitated for a moment before reaching out to grab it.
"Wow, it's so heavy!"
The bear in front of him was twice his size, and even with the buoyancy from the river reducing some of its weight, it was still extremely heavy to handle.
With great effort, he gradually pulled the brown bear toward the riverbank.
All the commotion successfully attracted Brother Zhang, who had entered the camp earlier.
"Eh? Isn't this the same brown bear we encountered earlier? So it's drifted here; I thought it had drifted out of sight."
The current scene led Brother Zhang to quickly make a guess.
"It should be the same brown bear, but it wasn't Brother Bo who caught it; he fished it instead. Just when it was about to be pulled over, the fishing line broke, that's why he had to get into the water. Brother Bo, do you need me to come over and help?"
Looking at Wang Bo struggling a bit, Lin Yang asked.
Where Wang Bo stood, the water was about belly-deep. If he went in, he would certainly get wet unless he wore wading pants.
If Wang Bo couldn't manage, Lin Yang would have to go in and help because they couldn't just watch the bear paw slip away.
"No need, Brother Lin Yang, I can handle it!"
Wang Bo gritted his teeth. He had to admit, this thing was really heavy.
But with so many people watching, he had to show his macho side somehow.
He soon got the bear to the riverbank, but he was reaching his limit; pulling it up onto the bank was certainly impossible, so he called Lin Yang to help.
"Whew... brother Lin Yang, give me a hand, this thing is crazy heavy."
But even if Wang Bo was in good shape, pulling the brown bear entirely onto the shore was still impossible; this creature must weigh hundreds of pounds.
"No problem."
Lin Yang had already rolled his pants legs up, standing by the river, grabbing a bear paw, and with a strong pull, he brought the brown bear closer, ready to pull it up onto the bank.
With another strong pull, he barely managed, yet it wasn't enough to bring it ashore.
With renewed force.
This time, under Xu Kun and Brother Zhang's amazed expressions, he managed to pull the huge brown bear onto the bank.
"Whoa, brother Lin Yang has... such strength."
Xu Kun was utterly shocked.
"Hehe, born gifted, just a bit strong."
"Brother Lin Yang once fished up a giant over a thousand pounds before, this dead bear, just a piece of cake~"
Wang Bo also returned to the bank, full of praise for Lin Yang.
"By the way, Brother Zhang, can this thing be eaten? Will there be any issues eating bear paws here?"
Getting the bear onto the shore was mainly for those four paws, Wang Bo sought confirmation from Brother Zhang.
"After a few hours dead, completely fine, and since this bear was shot before falling into the river, all its blood must have drained. Perfect, hold on, I'll call some people over to help carry the bear inside."
Soon Brother Zhang came over with two Russian guides, and together they lifted the brown bear into the camp.
The processing of the bear was handed over to the Russian guide named Ivan, who was also the team's chef.
Though the few of them were alright at cooking, tackling an unfamiliar ingredient was more effort than they could manage, so they quietly waited for their meal.
Leaving the bear to the Russian guide, Lin Yang and the others went to take a hot shower, washing away the day's exertion.
Upon returning, the bear was gone, leaving only the four bear paws behind.
Not a single part of this bear could be taken back home, thus Lin Yang and the others didn't ask further. As long as the crucial bear paws were there, that's fine.
By the campfire, Ivan already started cooking the bear paws, as waves of aroma wafted out.
Brother Zhang busied himself with other preparations.
Mushroom salmon soup, grilled bear paw, grilled fish, Emperor Crab, that was dinner tonight.
