The SSS Legendary Dragon Chose Me On Rebirth

Chapter 156: Who are you

The meeting held for a long time. A lot of back and forth happened. Valka contributed where he could, but mostly he left Drenvar alone to deal with things.

Now that the war was over and he had, with the help of others, pulled his family one step out of doom, he was reflecting on everything that had happened and what his next step would be.

For one thing, he was now greatly suspicious of Drenvar Vorrakyn, the Dragon Lord and Grand Duke. The man had plotted behind his back and somehow became a half Sovereign Ascended with Authorities and Law.

'Isn't this the same thing as last time? Just when it seems all hope is lost, he got his hands on forbidden techniques that made it possible to summon Dragons with the help of his family's death and blood.

'I find it hard to believe that he just luckily became a Sovereign Ascended. Someone was behind it all. Can it be the Shadow?'

'But one thing is also clear. I am still so weak. Far too weak that Drenvar can kill me anytime he wants. I was too busy trying to stay alive because of the war that I almost forgot to grow myself.'

'But before I can focus on that, I must know how much Drenvar still considers me useful now that he himself is growing and does not seem to be at a bottleneck.'

'Even an A-ranked Soulbearer will be formidable if they are advanced enough in stages, unless they are fighting someone just as advanced as them.'

'Drenvar's problem was that he was not powerful enough as an individual to lead, but now he is growing. Will he still find me useful? I need to find out how much time I need before we clash.'

"You will do that, Vacuse."

Vacuse blinked and focused on his father. "What are you saying?"

Drenvar turned to him and stared at him for a bit before he continued. "I said, you will be the one in charge of the Silent War. It should be the work of the Watcher, but we currently have none, so you, Vacuse Vorrakyn, will do it."

Vacuse smiled and his brain began to work fast. "Is that so? Then I must have a team of specialized individuals to work with."

"You can have your pick among the Dragon Guards and the army."

Vacuse shook his head. "I will pick from there, but I still want more. What do you think? We should form a competition to call all the young Soulbearers together for fighting matches. That way, I can have my pick."

Drenvar's eyes narrowed.

He seemed to understand what Vacuse was trying to do. Build his own forces of powerful people, but at the same time he did not have any reason to reject him.

So he nodded. "Alright."

"This will also build unity among the different territories in the Region."

The General Commander's eyes lit up. "Oh! We can also use this chance to mass recruit for the Regional Army."

Skya also nodded. "We should also make it into a festival, at least to provide some type of entertainment to people."

Talk about the fighting competition continued. Then they talked some more about the plan of how to stabilize the Region. They made conclusions on some things, and some were postponed to other days.

Eventually, everyone was dismissed, except for General Commander Rhydian Vorrakyn.

Rhydian stared at Drenvar. The two of them stared at each other, and subtle tension began to rise in the air around them.

Rhydian's eyes turned fast and cold, his face pensive, while Drenvar watched with a slight smile. "General Comman...!!"

Rhydian's body suddenly burst with silver lightning light, and he shot forward from the other side of the long table, cleaving the table into two as he passed through it.

He appeared in front of Drenvar, his hand like quicksilver as it punched at his face.

But Drenvar only raised his hand to catch the punch leisurely, the slight smile still on his face.

Boooom!

The ground beneath them cracked and shattered, sending stone splinters flying.

It was then that Drenvar's eyes turned red hot, and the temperature in the room rose, wiping out the static. "What the hell are you doing, Rhydian Vorrakyn?"

The aura between them exploded, turning into raging bloodlust that sent winds howling through the room. But that changed as the aura from Drenvar grew stronger, steadily pushing Rhydian back.

Rhydian gritted his teeth and his body turned brilliant silver, keeping him firmly in place. He was using his Soulbearer's power, while Drenvar was only using aura, and he was struggling.

Clouds of lightning formed around Rhydian. And his face was shorn of emotions as he asked, "Who are you, and where is Drenvar Vorrakyn?"

There was a slight pause, and Drenvar's eyes widened before they narrowed. Then he gave a dry chuckle. "Oh? So you care this much about me, brother?"

Rhydian did not reply. His aura only grew more intense.

Drenvar snorted. "Don't be stupid. Of course I'm Drenvar, you stupid red shorts neck!"

Rhydian paused, blinked, and then he took a step back. All the auras around him vanished, although there was still a bit of suspicion in his eyes. "Huh. So you really are Drenvar."

Aura also disappeared around Drenvar. "Why are you so suspicious?"

Rhydian shrugged. "The Drenvar that I know always wore hatred and enmity as a cloak, with eyes that shifted with suspicion no matter where they turned.

"But when I saw you this time, there was none of that."

Drenvar smiled slightly. "It's been long since we have seen each other. Don't you think it is a little meh that you are still holding on to the image of me in the past?"

Rhydian shrugged. "We are Dragons after all. We don't change our spots that easily. So you are Drenvar, the Dragon Lord. Do you trust the Dragon heir?"

"Do you?" Drenvar asked without answering.

Rhydian did not reply with a direct answer. "He is more like you in the past. Anyway, I'm going to sleep."

Drenvar watched him leave, and the room returned to silence once more. "What a suspicious boy. Do I trust him? Of course not."
