The Pokémon:Isekai

Chapter 20: Vs Brock

Brock's voice rang through the cavernous gym, his confidence clear.

"Geodude, use Rock Polish and attack with Rollout!"

Geodude spun in place, its rocky skin grinding against ground as fragments chipped away, making it lighter and faster. In an instant, it launched forward, rolling straight toward Oddy like a boulder down a mountain.

I clenched my teeth. Rollout would only get stronger with each hit. I had to do something fast.

"Oddy, use Sweet Scent—block its vision!"

Oddy swayed, releasing a dark cloud of petals into the air, their sweet aroma thickening the battlefield. The swirling petals distorted the space around them, creating an illusion of shifting shadows.

But Geodude didn't stop. It charged forward blindly, tearing through the petals like they weren't even there.

"It's locked in…" I muttered.

Geodude crashed into Oddy!

The impact sent Oddy tumbling backward, his small body skidding across the stone floor. He let out a sharp cry, barely keeping himself upright.

"Oddy, use Growth! We need more firepower!"

Oddy planted his feet, his body trembling as a faint glow surrounded him. His leaves stretched toward the dim torchlight, absorbing energy. His body grew slightly larger, his power increasing.

Brock smirked. "Geodude, keep it going—Rollout again!"

Geodude circled around, gaining momentum before barreling toward Oddy once more!

It was even faster this time.

"Dodge left, then Bite!"

Oddy leaped aside, just barely avoiding the rolling boulder of a Pokémon. As Geodude whizzed past, Oddy lunged forward, sinking his tiny teeth into the rock-type's arm.

A dull crack sounded through the gym.

Geodude let out a low grumble, but it didn't flinch.

Brock chuckled. "Bad move, kid. Geodude use Rollout again!"

Still mid-bite, Oddy's eyes widened as Geodude tore forward without hesitation, dragging him along for the ride.

"Oddy, let go—NOW!"

Oddy released his grip just in time, tumbling onto the ground as Geodude shot past him.

I exhaled. That was close.

But Rollout was not over yet.

I had to make it fail, or this battle was over.

"Oddy, use Sweet Scent again cover the whole battlefield."

Oddy shuddered but obeyed, releasing another thick cloud of dark petals into the air.

This time, the air was so dense that it blurred the outlines of the battlefield itself.

Geodude spun wildly, its speed too fast for it to adjust.

Brock frowned slightly. "Stay steady, Geodude! You've got this!"

But he didn't.

The uneven terrain, combined with the thick veil of petals, caused Geodude to veer slightly off course.

It wobbled.

Then—it crashed straight into the gym wall.

Geodude stumbled, trying to recover.

"Now, Oddy—Mega Drain, full power!"

Oddy's leaves glowed a bright green, and tendrils of energy shot out, latching onto Geodude. The rock-type let out a low groan as its life force was drained away, its once-sturdy body trembling under the attack.

Brock gritted his teeth. "Geodude, fight it—Rock Throw!"

Geodude lifted an arm, grabbing a nearby rock and hurling it forward.

"Dodge it, Oddy!"

Oddy tried to move, but he was too slow to dodge it.

The rock slammed into him, sending him skidding backward.

Dust settled.

Oddy lay still for a moment. Then, shakily, he pushed himself up. He was badly hurt, breathing heavily, but he was still standing.

I clenched my fists. "Finish it! One more Mega Drain!"

The tendrils of green energy surged out once more, wrapping tightly around Geodude.

The already weakened rock-type couldn't fight back. Its strength was completely drained.

Geodude let out one last groan before collapsing.

Silence.

Then Mr.willson The gym guide raised his hand.

"Geodude is unable to battle! Oddy wins!"

I exhaled, relief washing over me.

Oddy had done it.

But he was in bad shape. He had taken too much damage to last another round.

And Brock still had one Pokémon left.

Brock smirked as he recalled Geodude. "Good work, buddy. Return!" With a flick of his wrist, the Poké Ball absorbed the fallen rock-type, sealing it away for it to rest.

Then, he reached for his next Pokémon.

"Now, Onix—GO!"

The Poké Ball burst open in a brilliant flash, and from it emerged a colossal serpent of stone. The very ground shook beneath its weight as its mighty roar echoed through the cavernous gym. Dust fell from the ceiling, and even the torches flickered at the force of its cry.

I clenched my fists. This was going to be easy even oddy had a higher attack stat than Onix.

"Onix, Smack Down!" Brock commanded.

Onix coiled in on itself, its long body compressing like a spring being wound tight. In an instant, it snapped forward, using the stored momentum to whip Oddy straight into the wall with its tail.

The impact sent a thunderous boom through the gym as cracks formed in the rock where Oddy had crashed.

My heart sank. That… was a one-hit knockout.

The referee raised his hand. "Oddish is unable to battle!"

I rushed forward. "Oddy! Are you okay?"

Oddy weakly stirred, trying to stand but immediately falling back down.

I crouched beside him, gently lifting him up. "You did amazing, buddy," I whispered before pressing the Poké Ball to his side, recalling him into its safety. I had to win this fast.

I looked towards my final hope to win Aria.

She met my gaze, her scarlet-red eyes flickering with determination.

"Let's go, Aria," I said, standing up straight. "Don't worry—we're winning this."

She let out a sharp cry, stepping forward onto the battlefield.

Brock crossed his arms. "Onix, Smack Down again!"

Once more, Onix coiled itself up, preparing to strike.

That's when it hit me.

It wasn't just attacking—it was storing kinetic energy.

By curling up first, it was building momentum, then unleashing it in a single burst to increase both speed and power.

That's how it had one-shot Oddy.

But now that I knew… I could counter it.

"Aria, get out of range!"

She immediately leapt back, just as Onix snapped forward like a massive whip. Its tail slammed into the ground where Aria had stood, shattering the stone.

Brock's confident expression faltered slightly.

"Onix, don't waste the energy! Use it to move!"

Onix shifted direction in an instant, its massive body slithering across the battlefield at alarming speed, closing the distance between them.

"Aria, Double Team!"

Aria split into several identical copies, spreading out in every direction.

Onix lunged—but hit only illusions.

"Now, Confusion!"

The rest of the copies raised their arms at once, their eyes flashing a bright blue.

A pulse of psychic energy slammed into Onix, causing it to let out a deep, rumbling roar.

Brock gritted his teeth. "Onix, shake it off—Bulldoze!"

Onix roared again, slamming its tail into the ground. The entire battlefield shook, throwing Aria—and all her clones—off balance.

The real Aria stumbled as well.

And Brock saw it.

"Now, Onix! Smack Down!"

Onix lunged, its massive tail crashing into Aria and sending her flying!

She cried out as she hit the ground, rolling to a stop.

My heart pounded.

"Onix Use coil!" He shouted again

Brock wasn't holding back.

I needed an advantage.

I had to gain a upper hand but how, Could ı use rocks again like ı used against tusk? No it would not do anything to onix, then it hit me.

"Aria Use Double team and Disarming Voice on Torches. Lets Make it Night!"

She looked back at me.

Then, she grinned.

She understood me, I thought, as my heart beat faster, making me smile from the adrenaline as I looked at Brock who was also getting excited as Aria created copies of herself. Each one of them ran to another torch.

Brock narrowed his closed eyes. "Onix, Bulldoze! Stop them!"

But it was too late.

Aria's haunting cry filled the gym, the sound waves snuffing out the torches one by one.

The gym plunged into darkness.

And in that darkness…

Scarlet-red eyes began to appear.

Two. Then four. Then ten. Then twenty.

They flickered like ghostly embers, surrounding Onix completely.

Even Onix, Brock's battle-hardened Pokémon, hesitated.

It swung its tail wildly, trying to hit the illusions, but each strike hit nothing.

More eyes appeared.

The cavern echoed with nothing but the sound of Onix's ragged breathing.

And then…

A command

"Aria let's finish this,Astonish."

The cavern remained in pitch darkness, the only thing visible a sea of flickering red eyes.

Then—they moved.

One by one, the eyes closed in on Onix, faster than the eye could track.

And then, in an instant—

THWACK!

Onix let out a pained cry as a powerful strike connected.

THWACK! THWACK! THWACK!

Again!

Again!

Again!

Again!

Again.....

Each hit landed with terrifying precision. Onix couldn't see the attacks coming. It writhed, slamming its tail into the ground, trying desperately to hit something—anything—but there was nothing to stop the onslaught.

I could not see through the darkness. But I knew what was happening. Aria had completely taken control of the battlefield.

She could see Onix's fear and confusion. And that was all that mattered.

Then, Brock's voice boomed through the darkness.

"ONIX! USE EXPLOSION! WE'RE NOT GOING DOWN ALONE!"

My breath caught. Explosion?

A sudden, blinding light erupted from the center of the battlefield.

Onix's entire body glowed like a miniature sun, energy crackling around it, building up to a devastating detonation.

The entire gym rumbled violently as the energy reached its peak—

BOOM!

The shockwave ripped through the cavern, sending debris and dust flying in every direction. I shielded my eyes as the force of the explosion nearly knocked me off my feet.

For a few moments, there was only silence.

Then—

A soft whine, followed by the sound of flames igniting.

As the dust settled, I saw the referee, Mr. Willson, standing beside a Vulpix. Its mouth burned brightly, rekindling the torches one by one.

Light returned to the battlefield.

And there, sitting atop the unconscious body of Onix, was Aria.

Completely unscathed smiling.

Brock's face was frozen in disbelief. His eyes darted between Aria and Onix, then back again.

"W-wait… how? Does she have a Focus Band or something?" he muttered, still trying to process what had just happened.

I smirked.

"Aria is a Ghost and Fairy-type Pokémon!" I announced proudly.

Rotom and I exchanged knowing smiles as Brock let out a defeated chuckle, shaking his head.

Mr. Willson finally snapped out of his shock, raising his hand.

"Onix is unable to battle! Alex Carter wins the Gym Challenge!"

Aria let out a joyful cry, sprinting toward me before leaping into my arms.

I laughed, holding her close. "You did amazing, Aria."

Rotom hovered next to me, cackling as Brock recalled his fallen Onix.

Then, with a smile, Brock stepped forward and reached into his pocket while rotom floated towards Mr.Wilsoon.

"Since you defeated me, you are now the proud owner of this Boulder Badge."

He placed the small, gleaming badge in my palm.

As I admired it, he handed me something else—a disc.

"This badge will allow you to control Pokémon up to level 20, and it increases the power of Rock-type moves. And here—take this TM for Rollout."

He smirked. "That one's a gift, not just a reward for winning."

I nodded, taking the TM.

Then he ruffled my hair.

It was such a casual, brotherly gesture that I froze for a second.

But ıt felt weird getting patted by someone around my age.

Rotom, meanwhile, had other things on its mind.

[I told you Alex Carter was going to win! Now pay up.] Rotom whispered to Mr. Willson.

The referee glared at Rotom, grumbling as he discreetly sent money from his phone.

"He only won because Brock assumed that his Ralts was just a Psychic-type like every other Ralts." he muttered. "Don't get ahead of yourself."

He said looking at Rotom while he had his sinister smile.

[I think Brock was still losing to Alex Carter even before the Explosion] Rotom snickered, floating back to my side.

Brock, now fully recovered from his loss, turned toward me. "C'mon. I owe you an answer, don't I?"

He gestured toward the exit.

"Let's go! I promised you ı will take you to eat with us at my place!" he said while going ahead of me.
