Chapter 126: Sudden Changes IV
The elder looked at the young master of their clan and studied him for a second. This time they had sent their clan’s young master to this battlefield because it was almost harmless for him. He had a lifesaving amulet and few strong talismans so even if he couldn’t defeat his opponent, he had a way to safely retreat.
In the foundation building clan, there would be no one capable of killing him except for Keshab who was in the half-core realm. But there was no way the supreme elder of the clan could stoop low to kill a young cultivator in front of his clansmen. Even if he did so, the elder was sent here to shadow the young master and protect him at the last minute.
This was for his own good. If he experiences a near-death moment, then most of his mental demons would be erased, then there is a chance to loosen his bottlenecks, and he may be inspired and gain insights on various things. Not only that, surviving a battlefield would give one confidence and it would be good for the young master when he takes the helm of the clan someday.
As an added bonus he would get merit in the battlefield and there would be no opposing voices in the future. If he did exceptionally well and gained a lot from this battle, they could send him to the capital to their main family. With resources in the main family, he may even break through to the higher realm than the current supreme elder.
He was in his late thirties and had already reached the late stage of the foundation building realm so with their resources, it was sure he would be able to break through to the golden core formation realm but in the second tier city, the initial stage of the golden core formation realm was the limit. This time it wasn’t just to protect the young master but also to assess his capabilities after all if they were to send him to the capital, only his cultivation talent was not enough.
They had to preserve the face of their clan so if the abilities of their young master were not up to par, it would be embarrassing. This was why the elder was looking at the young master deeply. He was observing the battle from when it had started and he didn’t intervene until his young master was on his last legs. He wanted to see what his young master would do under the pressure and if he could handle the near-death experience.
If he panicked and lost all the decorum of a young master, then he had to evaluate and report it to the higher-ups. And it would also mean that all the behavior his young master had shown would be nothing but a facade. But if he could persist in the end then it would mean the Thapa clan would have a bright future on his hands. He was looking to see the emotions on his young master’s face. So far other than being a little rash, the young master had been great.
Hearing the young master telling him to kill Amrit, he also felt it was time to put an end to this. He turned towards Amrit and was about to attack when Amrit spoke. “So much for the so-called Golden Core clan. In the end, it is only the strength that matters. Face and decorum are just for show.”
Amrit knew he was going to die. Every clan member was busy and there was no one strong enough left to save him. But strangely Amrit didn’t feel any fear or sadness. The only regret he had was he couldn’t meet his little sister who he only knew was still alive and safe according to his mother.
Well, there were regrets to name a few like not breaking through to the foundation building realm, not realizing the inheritance of the Asura fully, being able to take the Rijal clan to great heights, not being able to cook and taste the wondrous food of this realm and the most regret he felt was not being able to reach the stars above.
He knew it would take a long time before he became strong enough to travel through stars but he couldn’t let go of the scenes of the universe he had seen in the inheritance. Amrit knew that there was some influence of his bloodline on making him this calm in such a situation but he had also accepted his death wholeheartedly. It wasn’t that he wanted to die but looking at the situation around him, he knew even if the Rijal clan got incredibly lucky, there would only be very few members left alive.
It would be enough if the fifth elder and the kids survived, Amrit was satisfied even if only a few members of his clan survived. As for him, it didn’t matter, if he died today then so be it, it wasn’t his first time dying and he was on the battlefield so he did the bloodline of Asura some justice. At least he didn’t hide like a coward and faced death like a true Asura, with their usual maniac smile and crimson eyes emitting bloodlust and killing intent.
For a second his maniac smile was gone and his crimson eyes turned back to the original brown color. The elder about to attack him was surprised by the change. He could see the pure smile on Amrit’s face and the brown eyes seemed to be at peace. It was a strange sight to see peace on the battlefield and from someone so young at that. Not just anyone could face their death with a smile. If it was an old cultivator at his last leg, then their acceptance of death would be much more manageable. But looking at the young man who may have only lived two decades, the elder felt it was such a pity.
If Amrit had been born into their clan then the Thapa clan would have gained a formidable pillar. The moment Amrit accepted his death, he felt as if he had broken some shackle. There was no visible change or anything, there was no new knowledge or inheritance. He didn’t gain an iota of strength but he just felt his shackle broken.
He didn’t even know which shackle had he broken. It didn’t matter at this point. It wasn’t that he had accepted his fate but his situation. But before going away he was going to send a wonderful gift for the Thapa clan. His maniac smile was once again back on his face. The crimson color painted his brown eyes making them enchanting and eerie at the same time.
Although his body was emaciated and cracks were seen all over his body, the killing intent and the bloodlust emitted from him told a story of a warrior who had the guts to face his death with an open mind. At this moment the elder heard some murmur and his expression changed.
