The last Asura Sovereign

Chapter 124: Sudden Changes II

Thinking that he would gain an upper hand after a few minutes and be able to kill Amrit, the Thapa clan cultivator began to smile. He was imagining that when he finally killed Amrit, he would have prevented great future trouble for the clan. Looking at the stupid smile on the Thapa clan cultivator’s face Amrit was amused. What the Thapa clan cultivator didn’t know was that the corrupted blood and all his other blood oozing from the arm, after dropping into the ground vanished silently as if there was nothing a second before.

The Thapa clan cultivator even with his divine sense was unable to see the change right under his nose quite literally. The blood under the sand coagulated into one blob and as the Thapa clan cultivator was relishing the victory he had imagined; a strange sense of danger overcame him. This time Amrit was using his soul power to attack. Although the techniques Amrit had known about soul power were common, he had mastered those normal techniques to a mastery level.

These techniques could be bought in the city and what the Rijal clan had in their Skill pavilion was a little bit better than that. He had learned these trashy techniques only for emergencies as every other cultivator does. Otherwise, who would be foolish enough to attack opponents with their soul power and with those subpar techniques? As the Thapa clan cultivator felt danger, Amrit used his soul power technique to attack.

His soul power hand was not broken through to the violet soul realm but it was much stronger than the average violet soul realm cultivator and was much more in abundance. When the soul technique entered the temple of the Thapa clan cultivator, it penetrated the defense he had put in his consciousness and attacked his soul. Even though the Thapa clan cultivator was at the late stage of the foundation building realm, his soul had barely reached the violet soul realm. Amrit’s soul attack started destroying the Thapa clan cultivator’s soul.

Even though the technique was subpar, the amount of soul power Amrit had used was enough for the Thapa clan cultivator to go into a daze. He was frantically trying to bolster his defense and counterattack Amrit inside his consciousness. But the moment the Thapa clan cultivator went into a daze, the blood coagulated underneath him turned into a sharp crystalline stake and went upward penetrating straight through the heart. When Amrit had destroyed a small part of the heart previously, he had left little blood there which was corrupting the heart little by little.

Most of the cultivators had instinctive reactions to protect their vital organs so the important places like heart and brain were always protected by their qi. So when Amrit had corrupted a bit of heart, it became like a doorway for the stake to push through otherwise there was no telling if the stake could penetrate the heart with qi protecting it. When the stake penetrated the heart it remained there and converted to a puddle once more.

The puddle mixed with the surrounding blood and started corrupting it. When a cultivator reaches the foundation building realm, they can survive for a few moments even without a heart and if they could eliminate the aura or qi of the one who destroyed their heart from the surroundings, they could temporarily form a heart with the spiritual qi and survive. As for regenerating the heart, it takes a bit of effort and resources.

This was why even after his heart was obliterated, he wasn’t really dead. So Amrit left the puddle there and corrupted the blood around the heart to prevent the cultivator from regenerating the heart and even if the heart was regenerated, it would be filled with corrupted blood. Even without heart, the Thapa clan cultivator looked as if in a daze. He was battling in his consciousness and although time passed many times faster there, he couldn’t avoid the fatal attack to his heart even after sensing the danger beforehand.

Only one or two seconds had passed from the moment Amrit used his soul attack but it seemed incredibly long for the Thapa clan cultivator. Amrit once again gathered his soul power to launch an attack but just as he had launched it, he felt an incredible sense of danger. He still wasn’t able to move and the danger he had sensed was just a little bit lower than the last golden light talisman. It meant there was a cultivator or attack at least equal to the peak of the foundation-building realm cultivator.

As the soul attack approached the Thapa clan cultivator, a shadow-like figure materialized before him and blocked the attack. When the unknown cultivator blocked his soul attack, it created a backlash in his consciousness. This was why people usually didn’t use soul techniques for trivial attacks. The backlash of aura was tolerable and could be healed fast; qi was somewhat mild and could be recovered after a few moments but the backlash on the soul was usually troublesome.

The soul injury was the most difficult injury to recover with external treasures and even with cultivation techniques to recover, it would take some time. If the backlash was serious, the person could become an idiot or go into a coma. As for Amrit, although the backlash was not that serious, it will still take a few hours to recover, if it was some other cultivator this little injury could take a week. But in his condition, there couldn’t be a worse time to get backlash.

Normally he would be able to take small backlash like this but now with his body weakened, his aura emptied and qi dwindling, he had no way out. The phantom disappeared and a cultivator in white robes stood before the Thapa clan cultivator facing Amrit. He was at the peak stage of the foundation building realm and looked about 180 centimeters tall. He had black and white mixed hair and a little hunched body and looked about eighty.

He looked like he was on his last legs but the kindly face hid enormous strength radiating from him. Amrit felt a sense of danger just by looking at him. Even if he was at his peak, he may not be able to defeat this newcomer, he would make a draw at best. The newcomer looked at Amrit who still had a maniac smile on his face and felt a slight chill.

Looking at Amrit’s condition, it didn’t seem like he would be able to move but he was emitting a dangerous aura. Now that the mask had been blown off from his face, many people who hadn’t seen him previously could infer he was from the Rijal clan but there was no news of someone such monstrous appearing in the clan. If they had known about Amrit, they would have sent a stronger cultivator soon.
