The last Asura Sovereign

Chapter 123: Sudden Changes

The dust didn’t settle after a few seconds but the shockwaves were sent far away sweeping many cultivators on the ground. Few of the cultivators near the battle were injured. If it was a qi sensing realm cultivator, they would probably explode on the spot. And this was when the explosion was dispersed in all directions otherwise that side would have burnt a tragedy.

Except for those big shots in the sky, every elder and deacon was looking at the explosion. This time Amrit didn’t come out unscathed. There were cracks on his skin, a lot of blood had just evaporated and he looked a bit skinny. This was due to him using his blood at the last moment to counter the attack. He was confident about taking one attack from a peak stage foundation building realm cultivator but the last golden light was beyond the peak stage and had reached half third grade.

These kinds of talismans exist due to minor errors from the lack of skill of auxiliary professional while using materials of good quality or someone with monstrous talent using subpar materials that result in the products exceeding their normal limits. Although these cases were rare, especially the latter, few of these exist. This talisman was probably a product of someone with subpar skills using high-grade materials.

Sometimes the products are not completely destroyed but tether between the grades. The effect of this battle was about the same as those at the peak stage of the foundation building realm battling so those on the ground and in the air were watching carefully. The Thapa clan cultivator didn’t wait for long and rushed towards Amrit who was enveloped by the dust. He didn’t know what condition Amrit was in but he knew this was the best time to act. If he delays, then the cultivators watching the battle may interfere and save Amrit. So he ran towards the cloud of dust and leaped from the ground enveloped in black aura dived straight towards Amrit.

Although the dust hadn’t settled down and only a silhouette of Amrit was visible this little dust was not enough to deter the divine sense of foundation-building realm cultivator. But probing Amrit to find his condition was impossible because not only his soul power could block his probing, but the killing intent and bloodthirst aura would obliterate most of the divine sense. The Thapa clan cultivator reached Amrit and slashed his sword without assessing Amrit’s condition.

He had seen the move before and the last time when Amrit had counterattacked, Amrit was injured himself by the backlash, and this time the power of the talisman was way stronger so even if Amrit survived, he would be in an almost crippled state. As the Thapa clan cultivator was a hair’s breadth away, he suddenly spat out blood from his mouth. Following this, some of his meridians and a little bit of his heart burst into pieces.

His hand was still holding the sword full of power and he couldn’t move an inch. It was at this time, a little of his attack’s backlash started fracturing his arm and cracking his skin. The Thapa clan cultivator was shocked. He was an inch away from Amrit but he couldn’t move at all nor could he muster any power in the arm he was holding his sword. To his horror, he saw Amrit a bit emaciated from before with cracked skin all over his body but with a brutal smile on his face.

The eyes had turned crimson not reddish, full crimson as if blood was dripping from them. The right hand holding the halberd was charred black and was broken in three places and had deformed into an irregular shape. Following his hand, his shoulder was hunched a bit and there were bones protruding on his back and right chest region. His skin all over the body was cracking with a little bit of blood seeping from them.

The sight was truly horrifying. Even his face was cracked in various places like a porcelain vase and the maniac smile on that face would make even adults piss their pants. Even in this state, Amrit was not afraid but he was excited. Almost all of his aura was exhausted and only a little of his qi was left. Even a cultivator at the peak of the qi sensing realm could kill him but when the Thapa clan cultivator looked at Amrit he felt a chill at his back as if the yin soldiers from the underworld were welcoming him.

He didn’t know why he couldn’t move but he figured Amrit had done something and he was right. Amrit had previously used the Bloody retribution move on every attack. At first, the Thapa clan cultivator was erasing every bit of Amrit’s aura from his body but later in the heat of battle, the aura went inside his body and Amrit was corrupting his blood silently. If the battle had gone on for longer, Amrit could have manipulated all the blood from his body and burst him from the inside out but the time and amount of the corrupted blood was a little low.

But this much blood was enough to hinder the Thapa clan cultivator. His heart was burst and Amrit manipulated a bit of blood into the hand holding the sword breaking apart the meridians and the remaining blood went to the legs making him feel paralyzed on the waist below. It wasn’t just blood flow that affected his movement but the blood that turned into crystals and affected the surrounding muscles.

For cultivators in the foundation building realm, after expelling the other party’s qi, most of the wounds could be taken care of by the healing pills, even the broken meridians. But in the midst of battle, who would give him time to heal? Even a momentary lapse could result in death. If Amrit was in good shape, he would have already killed the Thapa clan cultivator but Amrit was in no shape to move. Both cultivators were looking at each other, one with a terrified expression and another with a maniac smile.

After a moment the Thapa clan cultivator realized Amrit was seriously wounded and couldn’t move whereas he was trying to eliminate the corrupted blood on his body so he would have an upper hand while recovering. The aura on the sword was slowly dissipating but he was gradually regaining his control over the hand holding the sword. If he got a minute or two, he would be able to wrest control from the corrupted blood and attack Amrit again.

Although backlash was hurting his body, some of the qi used in his attack was also returning to his dantian thus increasing his qi reserves. After gaining control over his body he would be able to kill Amrit swiftly. No matter how monstrous his recovery speed was, looking at the condition of his body, it would take a while for Amrit to move.
