Chapter 4: Red Viper's Lair
Logan looked around, and indeed, this building was deserted long ago. He was used to seeing this building whenever he was in class, when he still attended Highschool, and since he graduated, he never came to this area again.
In this day and age, Highschool was the last level of education for most. They stopped schooling and decided to become superheroes to make quick money and fame.
Logan was amongst those who stopped at highschool. Only a few were not fit to be superheroes. They weren't prepared to face grotesque monsters or risk their lives, when they could just get a job and start a family.
Mr. Reed didn't want his son to have such a weak mentality and made Logan train hard. Fortunately, Logan didn't have such a mentality in the first place. His will to become strong had been sparked long ago by his father's chain of incredible feats.
Logan would stop at nothing to be as powerful as his father, and with his father backing him up, he had created miracle after miracle.
Logan wasn't where he wanted to be yet, but he wasn't where he used to be.
His physique rivaled most of his peers if not all. His physical capabilities were beyond average, and adding his unique use of his superpower, he was able to make himself stronger than normal.
Looking through the window he had come in through, Logan sighted his highschool sitting quietly in a serene setting.
It was nighttime, so the school was definitely closed. However, there were some mischievous students from the boarding house, who ran around, bored out of hell and looking for something to do.
Logan smiled. He had been one of them at a point in time. He and his best friend would go on adventures around the school, and they had discovered some things they kept to themselves.
That friend was tested as a B-Rank hero during the test, and he had moved to Diamond Haven City with his family after becoming stinkingly rich.
The Diamond Haven City was the richest city in the world, having most of the richest people populating it.
Logan wasn't so sure, but he heard that there was a place in Diamond Haven City made entirely out of diamonds.
Although there were gems more precious than diamonds, the fact that a building made entirely out of diamond existed, was proof of the amount of money the city had.
"I wonder how Dave is doing?" Logan muttered, his gray eyes glinting with a hint of nostalgia.
The echoing sounds of footsteps snapped him out of his thoughts, and he jumped, sticking himself to the ceiling with his energy.
A figure walked into the room a second later, a gun held in their hands. The person was dressed in all black, with red, snake-like mask on their face, just like the first man's.
Upon entering and seeing their comrade on the floor, passed out, they hurriedly raised their gun and looked around.
But before the person could locate the intruder, Logan dropped from above, descending with a devious axe kick and knocking them out with a sickening crunch.
"They have guns," Logan complained as he assessed a technological spatial device strapped to his arm. "So they wouldn't mind if I used this, right?"
The soft whirring sounds of an activating equipment reverberated in the small, congested room, and the humming of its complete activation followed after, before the crackling of electricity spread out.
The two technological Police Steel Batons of one meter length activated, blue lines of energy running through them. Arcs of crackling electric currents ran over it, reaching Logan's hands, but his gloves prevented any injury. Its stun capabilities weren't to be trifled with after all.
Logan's devious smile only grew, luckily hidden behind his mask. There was something about this weapon that made him pumped up anytime he used it, and that feeling was creeping into him now.
"Father said there are approximately 50 members of the Red Viper's in this Hideout," Logan recollected. "Ive got this!"
He left through the door the second Red Viper had come in through, making his way through the corridor as silently as possible.
All Superpowers could be used indefinitely, but everyone had a limit to the amount of power they could bring out at once, creating the Ranks that existed today.
Logan, through constant usage of his gravitational energy had become skilled in its various applications. His mental fortitude had helped him pull through hellish training, so much so that he could multitask, splitting his mind three ways.
Logan thought of a technique he and his father had been creating. It wasn't perfect yet, but the rough layout of how they wanted the technique to be was made, and they slowly tweaked it over time as they used it.
The technique was activated, and gravitational energy began to alter the gravity around Logan.
"As painful as always," Logan complained, feeling his body being pulled in all directions.
The technique had one use and one use only, but it came with a fatal flaw that they had been trying to correct for a very long time.
The technique, Gravitational Aura of Repulsion, as his father decided to call it, created an aura around the user that repulsed any object through gravitational manipulation.
He wasn't sure how well it would fare against bullets because of their piercing power, but he was going to try it nonetheless. If it worked well, he would keep it active throughout this mission… that's if he wasn't pulled apart by the gravitational energy by then.
The stun effects of his batons were turned off, silencing the sounds of the crackling currents. His father had emphasized on stealth, so he needed to be as quiet as he could. However, that didn't seem to be possible as the pounding of several boots against the ground alerted him, and he quickly hid in a room, closing the door behind him.
He looked through the peephole, watching as several Red Vipers members passed, running towards the location of the knocked out members.
Logan speculated that they were unable to communicate with them, so they sent them there.
As he waited though, waiting for the right moment to leave the room, he heard a whimper, and he looked behind.
Right behind him on a chair, Logan saw a figure bound by a rope, a technological device sealing her mouth, with multiple lacerations over her naked body.
