Chapter 5: Abandoning Stealth, Unleashing Fury
Logan's mind churned with myriad thoughts in a split second. Who was she? Why was she tied and gagged? Why was she in this room with no one watching over her?
Before Logan could get a chance to do anything though, he heard some words that made him panic.
"Who's watching over room 152?" A voice called out from the corridor.
'Room 152? I'm in room 152… shit!' Logan thought. 'This must be the place that the second Red Viper I knocked out came from.'
Logan looked around, searching for a place to hide. He shot a glance at the girl tied up and raised a finger to his mouth, urging her to keep his existence a secret as he hid in a fallen cupboard.
A Red Viper burst into the room a second later, two more in tow, looking around for a moment before their gaze settled on the girl.
"Ahh, you're still here…" one of them said, his gender clear through his rough masculine voice. "For a second I thought you were the culprit."
The girl shivered visibly upon seeing the Red Vipers, and she squirmed on the seat.
The Red Vipers members laughed at her fruitless struggles and moved over to her side, touching her face and playing with her long, rough red hair.
"We'll have a taste of you soon enough, just like your sisters," one of them said.
"Then we'll kill you!" Another chimed in suddenly, causing the girl to flinch.
"And sacrifice you to the Red Viper!" Another added.
Their laughter resounded in the room for some seconds as they left, closing the door behind them.
From his vantage point, Logan could see the terrified look on the girl's face. She seemed to be on the verge of breaking down into tears, but didn't have the strength to. She had no more tears left in her eyes after crying for so long, but as her gaze shifted to Logan, her only hope, a single tear rolled down her cheek.
She hoped Logan was here to save her, and not for any other reason. She had suffered enough in the hands of the Red Viper gang, and she would have wanted nothing more than death. However, Logan came at the right time, that's if he was even here for her.
The person she placed her hope on came out of the cupboard silently, maximizing the power of his gravitational energy to be as light as possible.
His footsteps were silent, with his every step nearly not producing a seismic wave in the ground. He slowly raised his hand and moved it close to the girl, causing her to back away, her wide eyes filled with terror.
'He's not here to help me!' she thought, but contrary to her expectations, Logan spoke gently and calmly to her.
"I'm not going to hurt you," he began, his voice as soft as possible. "I'll take off the gag now, so please don't scream, okay?"
The girl breathed in deeply, calming herself down, before nodding. Although she was still wary of the masked individual.
Logan placed a hand on the technological device sealing her mouth, then with a bit of force and his gravitational energy, he crushed it with his fingers.
The moment the device fell off, its light blinking out, the girl began sobbing silently, causing Logan to be confused. Wasn't she supposed to be happy?
'Or maybe they're tears of joy,' he concluded.
And truly, they were years of joy. Sarah had been gagged for 6 months straight, only receiving a capsule filled with the necessary nutrients her body needed through a passage in the device.
This meant that she had not spoken, nor had the chance to feel cool air enter her mouth for a very long time.
Logan didn't want to force her, but she needed to pull herself together lest they get caught.
She seemed to understand this from the aura Logan radiated, so she forced herself to calm down and face him, her gratitude practically flooding out of her eyes.
"What's your name?" Logan asked in a hushed voice.
The girl smiled. "Sarah," she tried to say, but only a mess of words came from her mouth, making Logan raise a brow.
"Sorry I didn't get that…" Logan said, but Sarah once again pronounced her name wrongly.
Seemingly finding no use in knowing her name right now, he moved on to the next question.
"Is there anyone in this building in the same situation as you?"
Sarah tried to speak, and realising her speech was terrible, she chose to nod her head.
"Do you know where they are?"
Sarah shook her head.
'This would be a lot harder than it should be,' Logan paused. 'Was it ever easy in the first place?'
Logan studied Salha's facial features, as she had called herself, but it was of no use as most of her face was covered in black bruises and bumps.
She looked ugly as hell, but Logan wasn't going to leave her there for such a reason. This was brutality, and he was going to be a hero who upholds justice.
The door to the room burst open, and a shot rang out.
Gravitational Aura of Repulsion.
Logan's batons sparked to life as he spun around, watching a bullet tearing through his Gravitational Aura of Repulsion.
An anger cum excitement surged through him as the baton's effects came into play, and a whitish aura burst out of his body, multiplying the strength of his protective aura.
The bullet hit his shoulder after much effort, piercing him by an inch, before rebounding from the effect of the Gravitational Aura of Repulsion and shooting back towards the Red Viper member.
Caught unaware, the Red Viper member flinched, taking a step back as the bullet hit his mask and scratched his cheek.
His gun misfired, shooting off its intended course and ricocheting off an iron table before tearing into the thigh of the girl behind.
A sudden, sharp spike of pain shot through her nervous system, and for the first time in a long time, she screamed without her gag.
The sound was akin to a gong going off in Logan's head as her voice spread through the whole building. 'Stealth?' he thought, seeing the pitiful state the girl was in. 'Screw this shit!'
Logan moved, his eyes blazing with uncontrollable bloodlust. "You all deserve death!" He roared, swinging his baton which had been coated in white-blue electric currents and his white aura, and smashed the Red Viper member's head.
The next second his head imploded, splatters of blood, fragments of bone and pieces of brain matter flying around.
