Chapter 473 - Entering Blind Monk
"BLIND MONK!!!"
The door on the right side of the stage opened up and a semi-good looking guy walked out.
He wore a white undershirt with a black jacket on the outside where there were some rips from his previous fights. His pants were tightly clung to his fixed self as they were prepared for acrobatics.
He stood at the height of 5.9 foot while staying towards the lean side. He looked as if someone strong could easily smash him, but certain eyes could tell that behind his clothes, he had a good strength.
But the strangest or intriguing thing was his eyes, they were tightly covered by a red sash.
"He wears that for popularity." Barnical spoke, "Some people have their weird clicks about dresses and this guy has a weird thing about his eyes."
"Is he really blind or is that for just?" Alice asked.
"Of course he isn't blind. With how easily he moves and gets around his surroundings, anyone can tell that he isn't really blind. I'm sure he can see through that thing."
Alice raised a brow, "Isn't that cheating?"
"Well yes… but the fan's love it and it brings in extra cash so we generally don't do anything about it."
"So nobody ever asked him about it?"
"They did, his excuse is that he is learning to sense the environment, and with an active fight going on, it helps." Barnical shrugged his shoulder with disinterest.
Alice turned to me and I gave a special smile. It was all she needed to understand what I meant.
That guy with the red sash wasn't just acting blind.
He is blind.
Training his senses is just an excuse. He just doesn't want people to know of his real circumstances… not because of pity but that they could use it out in the real world against him.
So it was not strange to see people with peculiar marks or tattoos on their face or if they wore masks, it was just a safety precaution.
Fighters and fans had grudges when it came to losing money.
The fact that Barnical or others didn't know said that he was that good at actually hiding his situation and using it to fool others.
"Our sensational fighter is none other than Blind Monk who has beaten all of his opponents with just the use of his good ol fists and special spiritual connection!" The announcer said and his smile changed darker.
"But the one fighting him… that one is just on another level or should I say another category?"
I felt curious at what that meant. Barnical smiled and came closer to explain, "To bring in more money, I thought of a change, boss."
"What kind?"
"Typically, that monk guy has only fought in the melee category but tonight I decided to change that."
I turn to him with a glint, "Are you saying…"
"Yes, boss… but if you want I can-"
I raise a hand to stop him, "Since its already arranged, let's keep it that way… but Barnical, I don't want that guy to die on me, you understand?"
"Of course boss. I already instructed to not kill him on any stance." Barnical nodded, "He'll only stab and break some bones… the guy is quite good at that."
I look back at the stage and focus on it.
…
"For all his fights, Blind Monk has only fought hand to hand combat and maybe one or two weapons fights… but since he is clearly capable enough to punch his way through his obstacles, maybe it's time to up the ante, huh. What do you guys say?"
"YEAHHH!!" Came the screaming approval of the crowd as Blind Monk frowned.
He was not told of this.
Surely he knew that missing his last fight would have problems. But he had already paid that with a reduction to this fights income, any more seemed excessive.
"For the first time in this stage, Blind Monk isn't just going to face a melee fighter or one from the weapons category… but it'll be someone from the SIGMAT CATEGORY!!!"
Blind Monk frowned hard on that.
This was bad… very bad. He wasn't prepared to win against someone from the sigmat section. He didn't even have a weapon to fight with.
This was a clear disadvantage… but somehow the change felt personal. As if they did it not for the penalty, but solely for him.
"But before we do that… doesn't it feel a bit too cramped? Let's change that too."
With the end of his words, the ground started rumbling more as the announcer stepped back from the middle. Blind Monk stayed still as he could feel the ground break open from the middle.
It mechanically broke and stepped back as an extra patch of the stage rose up and fixed itself above. Joining with the already existing ground and enlarging the overall stage for more ground.
The Announcer smiled at the audience's awe, "Surprised? Mesmerized? You should be, because it cost a lot for that upgrade to come and it did not come from my own pocket."
"…"
"Get it? It did not cost me?"
"…"
"…Alright, let's just talk about the fight then."
"YEAH!"
The announcer's brow cracked yet he smiled, "Our next fighter is someone, who I'm sure most of you are already quite acquainted with. Let's bring in, the one and only… Bone Man!!!"
The crowd who were already cheering loudly stood up and started jumping at the name.
Even Blind Monk who never met or heard of this person could clearly tell that he was bad news.
The door opposite to him, now clearly longer, opened up and a guy jogged out with a smirk that you just want to punch.
Bone Man was a bit taller and older than Blind Monk while having a muscular body. His clothes were punk like style with sleeveless blue undershirt and another sleeveless jean jacket which was ripped at the sleeves edge for style.
His blonde hair spiked up from the middle and his already bratty face was tattooed with a white skull as both a mask and for fun.
He jogged up the steps before jumping in the stage and showing himself for the crowd as they cheered for him.
"Quite the love out there for Bone Man here, I wonder if it'll be the same when he smashes his opponent… or if his opponent is able to beat him first." The Announcer said as the crowd booed at the last sentence.
Blind Monk didn't mind the booing, he came for the money and he'll get out with it… probably in one piece.
"I'm gonna make mincemeat out of you, kid." Bone Man said with a confident smile.
"…"
"What happened, you shaking in your kiddy boots already?" Bone Man laughed but Blind Monk didn't answer or gave any reaction.
He just stood there as if he was a statue.
Which irked Bone Man.
He hated people like that who always stayed quiet, in a corner as if they knew everything. Knew how the world worked and felt better than people like him… he just hated intelligent people.
"I see the fighters are already getting acquainted, so good for them. Let's hope that this acquaintance doesn't stop them from giving us a good fight." The Announcer said with a shady smile before casually getting closer and whispering to Bone Man, "You understand the deal?"
"Yeanh, no permanent damage."
"And Internal or the face."
"Face?"
"The client may not like that."
"Whatever you say… I'll just have a bit of fun first."
Further away from them, Blind Monk seemed as if he didn't hear anything they said… but he did.
And he didn't like it one bit.
