Chapter 472 - Benipole's a Workaholic
I remain seated at the flower garden's small tea table. In front of me was the already open ring box with the blue ring sitting inside it.
My expression was clouded as I thought of the previous matter.
Opposite to me was the seat where Arthur had been previously, now empty of course.
Could the thing have gone differently if I had said some prettier words?
Probably
Sure, he would have taken the ring and our relation would have become much less sour but it wouldn't have been my style.
I'm someone who wants to make people think thrice about why fate was so cruel that they would meet me.
"Lord Henry." I hear the elapsed voice of Bishop Benipole as I smile.
"Father, sit down. You look like you screamed out a marathon just now."
"A Marathon?"
"Just sit down." The guy sat down as I ask, "So how did prior education went?"
Benipole sighed with a weary look, "Youngsters this days, they don't have any appreciation of the work their seniors have left behind and only tend on trying to destroy it with their schemes."
"To think a sister of the church would do such a thing… if the Reverend Mother were to hear it, she would have a heart attack!"
"Then it's for the best that this matter erases here." I say.
Benipole looked up, his face awfully curious, "You're not angry, Lord Henry? The way she treated you… it definitely isn't the church's teachings."
"Of Course Not! We can blame that on her upbringings and about me being angry… tell me father, does it look like she won't be doing something so stupid ever again?"
"I did scold her quite a bit, I don't think anyone would be that thick skinned to pull something so drastic again." Benipole laughed, "It's been sometime since I scolded someone this much… reminds me of the days when I received young priors in need of early teachings."
I let the father laugh while thinking, 'If you think that she won't do anything, then I'm definitely sure that she would.'
'And about her thick skin… she's a loudmouth heroine priestess that has the power of revelations and holy spells, she's definitely think skinned, alright!'
I break the father out of his old memories, "So about what I said before, what do you think about building the church?"
"Hmm…" Benipole had a thoughtful look that broke into a smile, "It would be a wonderful idea."
"Though I know asking any more from you would be beyond shameless for me-"
"It's alright. What would you have to do or need for work to start?"
"Well, I would have to go back to the church first, announce your idea to the brothers… the archbishop or Cardinal would be the best person and then think of a plan for the building, costs and other stuff."
"So I guess you would have to be leaving then?" I say and nod thoroughly, "You're a holy man, to think you would leave immediately after you have just healed..."
"I am?" Benipole tilted his head curiously.
"Yes, you are father. You told me that previously remember… who knows, maybe you surviving that attack and healing so quickly must have been the Goddess's work to get you back to your station."
"It is?" Benipole said before knowing he himself sounded as if he was ignoring his duties so he coughed, "…Yes, it is. The work of the Honorable Lady must never stop preaching and her adored workers must remain the same at their duty."
"Such Honest Words… you truly are the holiest person I've ever met, it's been a true honor knowing you, Father." I stand up and held both his hands while saying such.
Benipole almost blushed at that, "You're saying too much, son. Except I can't give you the same compliments as they would dim in the lights of it. But I will talk about you to the brothers, let them know of your fine words and maybe if possible, the church would even be able to help you someday."
"That is too much father… but thank you." I smile, 'Exactly what I wanted.'
'To think it would take so much buttering for your old ass to finally say those words.'
We talked a bit more before the father gave an above average sized prayer and left to gather his things.
I sit back down and sigh, "Finally… that matter is coming to a close."
"Did the old guy from the nest finally decided to accept your bribe, master?"
I don't need to turn to hear that sarcastic tone, "In a word. But it's not really a bribe when its actually helping the church, you know."
"Whatever you say…" Alice took light steps towards me before leaning down from my shoulder to look at the open box, her large boobs falling on my shoulder, "So that guy didn't accept his bribe huh… smart of him."
She wasn't just being sarcastic… the reason she said that was because there was a mark on the ring, her mark.
It would have enabled her to always lock on to Arthur's location and since it was just a locating mark, it would have worked large distance as well.
Arthur didn't accept because he knew about the mark, he didn't because of our conversation.
"You could have gone easier on him… he seemed like in a pinch to accept it." I hear Anna's voice as she stood to my left, "And is he really the king's son?"
"He sure is! I could see quite the defined aura around him, he was definitely a special person." Alice said.
Alice has one of the best affinity to magic, so it wasn't really a surprise to hear her able to see that.
Though that raised a question, "Since you say that… have you also looked at Abigail's aura?"
That question immediately darkened Alice's face.
"I... would rather not answer."
That itself was a big answer.
…
"WELCOME EVERYONE TO ANOTHER BREATHTAKING FIGHT OF THE NIGHT!" The Announcers loud words coursed through the ear piercing screams of the spectators.
I was back at the underground fight club once more and sitting inside another VIP room. This time, I wasn't alone, beside me was Alice on another single couch, wearing a long black robe with mysterious purple marking and a white skeleton mask to hide her features.
Yet that wasn't enough to hide her physique as Barnical looked at her with an obvious lust. The guy's horniness was big but it stayed dormant before me.
The guy was pathetic yeah… but only to the powerful guys. He definitely showed his powerful side to this place when coming to managing it.
A Big Fat Bird told me that the person I'm looking for will be coming tonight for his scheduled fight.
"I'm definitely sure he would come tonight boss, he already ignored one fight and that cost him a penalty, the guy cannot afford another one." Barnical said with an acute confidence.
Barnical was right… He can't afford another.
"If you want boss, we can cancel out the previous penalty," Barnical said, wanting to impress me, "That would make him gratefu-"
"Don't. That would only make him suspicious." That guy may have a big disadvantage, but he closed it up with his perception.
Our conversation was cut short as the announcer started talking.
"TONIGHT! We will have one of the most fantastic fights your money could pay for."
"The fighters today are people who have skewered their opponents with utmost cruelty and won with severe viciousness."
"Our first fighter tonight is someone who's legend has started just weeks ago and is soaring high with an astonishing score of 2-12 points, Let's Bring Out…"
"BLIND MONK!!!"
