THE GHOST ASSASSIN ☠️

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Silent kill

Kael, Jax, and Ryker stepped into the dimly lit sanctuary, their faces grim and exhausted. The mission had been a success.

Ava looked up from her seat by the computer, her eyes narrowing as she took in their expressions.

"Report," she said, her voice firm.

Kael nodded, his eyes scanning the room before focusing on Ava.

"Agent Nova is down. The mission was a success."

Ava's expression turned cold.

"Any complications?"

Kael hesitated before answering.

"None. We got in and out clean."

Jax nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, it was a smooth op. No hiccups."

Ryker grunted, his eyes fixed on the floor.

"Except for the part where we had to take out a top-notch agent. That was fun."

Ava's eyes flashed with anger.

"That was necessary. We can't let anyone get in our way."

Kael nodded, his expression unyielding.

"We know that, Ava. We're just saying it wasn't easy."

The room fell silent, the tension palpable.

Finally, Ava spoke up.

"Get some rest. We'll regroup in the morning and come up with a new plan for the next target."

The team nodded, their movements slow and exhausted as they made their way to their quarters.

Ava stepped into the dimly lit room, her eyes fixed on Dr. Elara's figure seated on the bed. Dr. Elara looked up, her eyes narrowing as she took in Ava's expression.

"Ava, what's going on?" Dr. Elara asked, her voice curious.

Ava's face was calm and collected.

"We've been playing a little game, Elara," Ava said, her voice smooth. "A game of cat and mouse."

Dr. Elara's eyes narrowed.

"What are you talking about?"

Ava smiled, a hint of amusement in her voice.

"We are the ones behind the assassin. We are the ones who have been taking out the other commanders of the division."

Dr. Elara's eyes widened in shock, her mouth dropping open.

"What? Ava, how...why?"

Ava's smile grew wider.

"We are taking control, Elara. We are taking out anyone who stands in our way. And we are not going to stop until we are the only ones left."

Dr. Elara's face was frozen in surprise, her eyes fixed on Ava's in disbelief.

Dr. Elara's eyes were still wide with shock, but Ava just kept talking.

"You know what the Division is doing, Elara. You know about the experiments, the torture, the manipulation. They are using people like pawns in their game of power."

Dr. Elara's face twisted in disgust.

"I know. I have seen it. But I never thought...I never thought you'd be the one to take them down."

Ava's smile grew wider.

"Oh, I am not just taking them down, Elara. I am destroying them. I am burning their whole corrupt system to the ground."

Dr. Elara's eyes narrowed.

"Why? What makes you so sure you are right?"

Ava's expression turned cold, her voice dripping with venom.

"Because I have seen the worst of humanity, Elara. I have seen what the Division is capable of. And I know that if they are not stopped, they will destroy everything that is good in this world."

Dr. Elara's face was pale, but Ava just kept talking.

"They are using people like Agent Nova, turning them into mindless drones. They are experimenting on innocent civilians, pushing them to the brink of madness. And they are getting away with it."

Ava's eyes blazed with determination.

"Not anymore. We are taking them down, Elara."

Ava's eyes seemed to bore into Dr. Elara's soul.

"You know why I am doing this, Elara. You know why I am taking down the Division."

Dr. Elara shook her head.

"No, Ava. I don't know. Why?"

Ava's expression turned cold.

"Because of what they did to you, Elara. Because of what they did to Kael, what they did to Ryker, Jax, Lena, Marcus, what they did to my family and many other people that they hurt."

Dr. Elara's eyes widened in shock.

"What are you talking about?"

Ava's voice was barely above a whisper.

"They destroyed our family, Elara. They took everything away from us. And they did it on purpose."

Dr. Elara's face went white.

"How...how did you know?"

Ava's eyes seemed to cloud over.

"I overheard Commander Arlo talking about it. He was gloating about how they had broken you, how they had taken away everything you loved."

Dr. Elara's eyes filled with tears.

"No...that can't be true."

Ava's expression was unyielding.

"It is true, Elara. They destroyed your family, also my family, so that they could bring us fully into the Division. They wanted to break us, to control us and after using me, they sent you to kill me."

Dr. Elara's face contorted in anguish.

"Oh God...my family...my beautiful family..."

Ava's eyes seemed to burn with intensity.

"That is why I'm taking them down, Elara. That's why I'm destroying the Division. For you, for my family, for everyone they have hurt."

Dr Elara's face crumpled in despair, Ava's eyes blazing with determination.

The morning light filtered through the windows of the Division's headquarters, casting a somber glow over the gathered agents. Lieutenant Krieg and Director Arlo stood at the front of the room, their faces etched with grief and anger.

"Agent Nova was a brilliant and dedicated agent," Director Arlo said, his voice trembling with rage. "Her death is a tragedy, and a stark reminder of the enemy we are facing."

Lieutenant Krieg's eyes narrowed.

"We will find those responsible, sir. And we will make them pay."

Rachel and Amari stood close to each other, their faces pale with shock. They had worked closely with Agent Nova, and her death hit them hard.

Director Arlo's eyes scanned the room, his gaze lingering on each agent.

"We are at war," he said, his voice cold and hard. "And we will do whatever it takes to win. I want every available agent on this case. I want to know who killed Agent Nova, and I want them brought to justice."

The room erupted into a chorus of agreement, agents vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Lieutenant Krieg's eyes locked onto Rachel and Amari.

"You two, come with me. We have a lead to follow."

Rachel and Amari exchanged a nervous glance before following Lieutenant Krieg out of the room.

Director Arlo's eyes watched them go, his expression cold and calculating.

"We will crush our enemies," he whispered to himself. "No matter the cost."

Director Arlo's eyes was burning with determination, his face twisted in a snarl.

In the safehouse, Lena's fingers flew across the keyboard, her eyes scanning the lines of code on her computer screen. She was deep in the Division's database, searching for any information she could find on their targets.

Suddenly, she sat up straight, her eyes widening in surprise.

"Ava, I've got something," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Ava walked over to Lena's station, her eyes locked on the screen.

"What is it?"

Lena's face was grim.

"We haveve got two targets left. Director Arlo and Lieutenant Krieg."

Ava's eyes narrowed.

"We should take down Krieg first. Arlo is the more vulnerable target, we will take him last."

Lena nodded in agreement.

"I have already started digging into his schedule. I think I have found the perfect opportunity to take him out."

Ava's eyes sparkled with excitement.

"Tell me."

Lena's face was serious.

"He's got a meeting with Director Arlo tomorrow night. They are going to be discussing their plan to take down the killer."

Ava's grin was ruthless.

"That's perfect. We'll take him out right in front of Director Arlo. It will be a statement."

Lena's eyes locked onto Ava's.

"We will need to be careful. We can't afford to mess this up."

Ava's face was cold and hard.

"Don't worry, Lena. Everything is in control."

Ava and Lena exchanged a determined glance, their eyes burning with intensity.

Director Arlo paced back and forth in his office, his phone pressed to his ear.

"Baron, I understand your concerns," he said, his voice firm. "But I assure you, we have everything under control."

The voice on the other end of the line was smooth and confident.

"Arlo, I'm not sure that is true. I am hearing rumors that the killer is still at large. Can I send someone to...help you with the situation?"

Director Arlo's jaw clenched.

"No, Baron. I do not need your interference. We can handle this ourselves."

There was a pause on the other end of the line.

"Arlo, I am not offering you a choice. I am offering you a solution. But if you're sure you can handle it..."

Director Arlo's tone turned desperate.

"Baron, please. Don't send anyone. I will take care of it. I will take down the killer, I swear it. Just give me another chance."

The Baron's voice was cold.

"Very well, Arlo. I will give you one more chance. But if you fail...there will be consequences."

Director Arlo let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank you, Baron. I won't fail. I promise."

The line went dead, and Director Arlo was left standing in his office, his phone still pressed to his ear.

He closed his eyes, his mind racing with plans to take down the killer and save his own skin.

In the santuary, as they prepared to leave the sanctuary safehouse, Lena handed Kael a small earpiece.

"Remember, Kael, you'll need to be in position before the meeting starts," she said, her voice low and urgent.

Kael nodded, tucking the earpiece into his ear.

"I have got it, Lena. I will take care of Kreg."

Ryker, who was standing by the door, spoke up.

"Put some respect on the name, Kael. You are about to take someone's life. Show some respect."

Kael's eyes flickered to Ryker, before he nodded.

"Lieutenant Krieg," he said, his voice a little softer.

Lena nodded, her eyes scanning the group.

"Alright, let's move out. Ryker, be on the nearby roof as usual. Jax, you are driving. Kael, you are solo on this one."

The group nodded, before moving out of the safehouse and into the night. Ryker and kael got to the backseat. Jax stopped the car when they have the facility at sight, they splitted as usual, kael disappeared into the darkness with his heart pounding with anticipation.

Kael had been watching the building for hours, studying the guards' patrol routes and timing. He knew exactly when and where to strike.

He slipped in through a ventilation shaft on the roof, his body flexible and agile as he navigated the narrow ductwork. He moved silently, his breathing slow and controlled.

Once inside, he dropped down into the hallway, his eyes scanning the area. He knew the meeting was taking place on the third floor, and he made his way there swiftly.

He reached the door to the meeting room just as Lena was hacking into the electrical system. He waited until the lights went out, then slipped inside. Rachel and Amari were frozen in shock as the light went off, their eyes straining to see in the darkness. Arlo was cursing with his hand flailing wildly.

The darkness was complete, but Kael knew the room's layout. He had studied the blueprints, memorized every detail. He moved with confidence, his hands outstretched in front of him.

And then, he saw Krieg. His eyes adjusted to the darkness, he saw the Lieutenant standing at the front of the room. He moved swiftly, his hand closing around Krieg's throat.

Kael swiftly brought out his sword ad place it around krieg's throat. kreig struggled bit kael grip was firm. With a swift motion, Kael drew his blade across kreig's neck, ending his life silently.

The lights flickered back on, casting an eerie glow over the room. But Kael was already gone, vanished into the shadows like a ghost. He had struck swiftly and silently, leaving no trace of his presence behind.

Rachel and Amari blinked, their eyes adjusting to the sudden brightness. They looked around, confused, trying to make sense of what had just happened.

And then, their gaze fell upon a scene of horror. Lieutenant Krieg's body lay on the floor, a pool of blood spreading from his neck like a dark halo.

Rachel's hand flew to her mouth, her eyes wide with shock. Amari's face was pale, her eyes fixed on Krieg's lifeless body.

Director Arlo's face was twisted in rage, his eyes blazing with fury. He took a step forward, his hands clenched into fists.

But Kael was long gone, lost in the darkness, leaving behind a trail of blood and vengeance.

Arlo's eyes scanned the room, his gaze lingering on each face as if searching for any sign of complicity. Rachel and Amari exchanged a nervous glance, their minds racing with the implications of what had just happened.

"How did he get in?" Arlo demanded, his voice low and menacing. "Who let him in?"

Rachel shook her head, her voice barely above a whisper. "I don't know, sir. I swear, we didn't see anything."

Amari nodded in agreement, her eyes wide with fear. "It was like he was a ghost, sir. One minute he was there, the next he was gone."

Arlo's face twisted in anger, his fists clenched at his sides. "Find him," he growled. "Find the killer and bring him to me. I want him to pay for what he's done."

Arlo's looked at Amari with his furious face, his eyes blazing with a desire for revenge, as Rachel and Amari exchanged a nervous glance, knowing that they were now caught in the middle of a deadly game.
