Chapter 126 Mary Shaw
Gordon's surprised words halted Mia's movements instantly. The joy on her face slowly faded, gradually replaced by a trace of panic.
She stood up abruptly, retreated several steps, and looked at the gift box on the floor with eyes filled with terror.
It seemed she now finally remembered the lesson from Annabelle.
"I clearly bought a Western cowboy puppet. How did it turn into this thing?" Gordon's baffled voice continued.
"Damn it! It must have been that chatty sales clerk who packed the wrong item! I'll go find him right now and get it exchanged."
Gordon, a hint of anger on his face, turned to pick up the lid of the gift box, intending to cover the puppet again.
"Hey—wait! If you cover it now and try to send it back, it won't do any good. It will still come back for you!"
Chu Feng reached out to stop Gordon's actions. He looked at the puppet, still quiet and motionless in the gift box, a strange light in his eyes.
"Billy, Mary Shaw's doll, am I right?" Chu Feng leaned slightly, speaking gently to the puppet inside the gift box.
"Mr. Chu Feng, you... you're not joking, are you?" Gordon's face turned pale as he asked tremulously.
Clearly, the fact that his newly bought puppet had turned into something bizarre was hard for this man, who had just experienced the Annabelle incident, to believe.
On the other side, Mia hugged her daughter closer and stepped back again. She preferred to press her back against the corridor wall rather than stay near the gift box on the floor.
"I really wish this was a joke..." Chu Feng said faintly, feeling the bizarre aura spreading from the box.
"It... its eyes, Mr. Chu Feng, the puppet's eyes... they moved!" Clutching the lid of the gift box to his chest, Gordon's voice was tinged with terror as his gaze swept over the puppet.
Inside the gift box on the floor, the puppet Billy's large eyes started to move back and forth, as if they belonged to a real person.
The next second, the puppet Billy's body suddenly sat up, its large eyes staring intently at Mia, who was leaning against the wall, as its jaw moved up and down.
"Where is Annabelle?"
The sudden horrifying sight made Mia lose her ability to think. On instinct, she opened her mouth and screamed.
"AAAH—"
The instant she opened her mouth to scream, a bizarre energy appeared out of nowhere, transforming into a hazy phantom that rushed towards Mia's head.
"Now is not the time to scream!" Chu Feng shook his head, his figure vanishing instantly from its original spot.
With a THUMP, a fist enveloped in rich Spiritual Power appeared instantly, completely dispersing that bizarre force.
At the same time, Chu Feng was also pushed back a few steps by the force.
"Quiet!"
Turning back, Chu Feng shouted lowly at Mia behind him. He then motioned for Gordon, still slumped on the ground, to hurry over and take care of his wife.
Gordon, sitting on the ground pale-faced and somewhat limp, mustered his courage and crawled toward his terrified wife when he saw her state.
"Exorcist?"
The puppet Billy, sitting inside the gift box, tilted its head in a very human-like manner, shifting its gaze to Chu Feng.
"Yes, that's right!" Chu Feng nodded. He flipped his hand over, and a long knife instantly appeared in his grasp.
"You have the scent of Annabelle on you. Can you tell Billy where she went?"
"If it has a soul, then it should probably be in Hell by now!"
Billy fell silent for a long moment after Chu Feng's response.
"That really is unfortunate news! It seems Billy has failed to complete the task given by my master this time..."
"Your master? Is it Mary Shaw? What does she want with Annabelle?"
After hearing Chu Feng's question, the puppet Billy's head tilted again.
"Mr. Exorcist, your methods of gathering information are far too crude!"
As Billy spoke the latter half of this sentence, its voice suddenly changed to a somewhat husky female voice.
"Mary Shaw?" Though it was phrased as a question, Chu Feng was already certain that Billy's body had been taken over by its master.
"Mr. Chu Feng, although I don't know how you came to know of my existence, prying into others' secrets isn't a very good habit."
Mary Shaw's voice grew lower and lower. Around Chu Feng, it suddenly seemed as if only he remained—in utter silence, soundless!
All the sounds that should have been present in a normal environment had vanished without a trace in an instant!
"Mr. Chu Feng, what... what's happening?" Gordon's trembling voice was startlingly clear in the silent environment.
"It's nothing serious, but you two had better keep your mouths shut and not scream no matter what happens!"
Although they didn't know why Chu Feng had asked them to do this, Mia and Gordon obediently kept their mouths shut and made no further sound.
Mary Shaw, also having heard Chu Feng's words, couldn't resist manipulating Billy's puppet body to stand up from the gift box. "Mr. Chu Feng," she asked in a slightly husky voice, "I'm growing more and more curious. How do you know so much about my affairs?"
The bizarre power emanating from Billy's body, controlled by Mary Shaw, grew increasingly potent, at least one level stronger than Annabelle!
And this was merely her controlling a puppet remotely!
A golden light flashed around the cautious Chu Feng. His hand firmly gripped the hilt of the Demon Hunting Blade, ready for battle.
How has Mary Shaw become so powerful? She wasn't this outrageous in the movie! Chu Feng frowned, watching the puppet's every move intently.
"Heh heh, don't be too nervous, Mr. Exorcist. If you manage to come to me, I'd be delighted to use your body for my latest research. I'm sure you'll become the most perfect puppet I've ever created!"
After hearing Mary Shaw's words, a dangerous chill flashed in Chu Feng's eyes.
"Rest assured, that day will come. However, I hope you won't regret it then!"
"Oh? I like your confidence!"
No sooner had Mary Shaw's voice faded than the puppet Billy vanished from the gift box.
The next second, an elderly, tall, and skinny woman appeared before Chu Feng in the blink of an eye.
A long tongue, formed from countless human tongues joined together, shot out from the woman's mouth, heading straight for Chu Feng's face.
Behind Chu Feng, Gordon and Mia saw this scene and, instantly forgetting Chu Feng's instructions, were about to scream out loud.
"MMPH! MMPH!"
However, contrary to their wishes, their mouths didn't open, and all that came out were muffled sounds.
I knew you would do that, Chu Feng thought, his expression indifferent as he looked at Mary Shaw before him, as if he had long anticipated her move.
His arm swung, the blade flashed, and the frightening figure of Mary Shaw vanished instantly from before Chu Feng.
