Chapter 125 Gordon's Gift

"Ding! Congratulations, Host, for killing a Demon. You will receive the following rewards:

1. Strength Attribute: 62 points, Physique Attribute: 61 points, Mental Attribute: 70 points, Spiritual Power Attribute: 60 points

2. Lifespan: 60 years

3. Divine Source Stone x1"

Seeing the last item of the system's rewards, Chu Feng became interested. A Divine Source Stone, what is this?

With a thought, the introduction to the Divine Source Stone was accessed.

Divine Source Stone: Contains 1 point of Divine Origin Substance. Can be used after the Host completes the Second Rank advancement.

Second Rank before I can use it? That's still a long way off!

Chu Feng checked his current Attribute Value and shook his head. After using all the Attribute Points and Lifespan Value, he also tossed the Divine Source Stone into his Storage Space.

Having taken care of everything, Chu Feng scanned his surroundings and then hurriedly entered the apartment building.

Damn demon, making such a scene!

Back on the fifth floor, Chu Feng knocked on the now-useless door.

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!

After three knocks, Mia, holding her daughter, opened the door.

"Mr. Chu Feng, thank you, thank you... Thank you for killing that demon!"

Mia was very emotional, her face filled with the joy of having narrowly escaped death, a hint of glistening tears at the corners of her eyes.

"Since you've already witnessed the process, I won't say much more, Mrs. Mia. The commission is completed, so I won't stay any longer."

Chu Feng had only intended to inform the employer. Since she was already aware of the situation, he decided there was no need to elaborate and turned to leave.

"Mr. Chu Feng, please wait a moment!"

"Hmm? Is there anything else, Mrs. Mia?"

"Can you tell me why the demon, despite having the ability to kill our entire family directly, just kept threatening us?"

Hearing Mia's puzzled voice, Chu Feng smiled faintly. "Mrs. Mia, it would be easy for the demon to kill you all. But if it did that, it wouldn't be able to obtain your delicious souls."

Seeing the confusion deepen in Mia's eyes, Chu Feng continued, "This demon enjoys consuming human souls. However, unless a human willingly offers their soul, it's very difficult for the demon to acquire it.

"Therefore, it continuously tortures the spirit of its chosen victims, attempting to make them offer their souls voluntarily."

Of course, this explanation came from Chu Feng's memory of the story's plot. However, judging by the demon's behavior, it was quite possible this was indeed the reason he had mentioned.

Just then, a series of urgent shouts suddenly echoed from the corridor.

"Mia! Mia!"

Hearing the familiar voice, Mia's face lit up. It was her husband, Gordon!

Seeing this, Chu Feng smiled. "Alright, I won't disturb you any longer. Goodbye."

Waving to them, Chu Feng turned and headed for the stairs.

As for the elevator? It was probably due to Chu Feng's recent fight with the demon. The old elevator had completely stopped working, and its doors wouldn't open at all.

"Goodbye, Mr. Chu Feng!"

Chu Feng had just reached the stairwell when a young man holding a gift box, about a meter in length, rushed out from the staircase.

"Mia! Oh, thank God! It's such a relief to see you're alright!

"I heard a demon had appeared in the apartment, so I rushed back immediately."

Seeing his wife, Gordon immediately placed the gift box on the ground and pulled her into a tight embrace, his face etched with lingering fear.

"The scene downstairs is terrifying... It's like a battlefield that's been bombarded!"

Near the stairwell, Chu Feng hadn't gone downstairs. Instead, he frowned, turned, and looked at the large gift box Gordon had placed on the ground.

Chu Feng activated his Spiritual Perception. A bizarre aura! He looked at the box on the ground, becoming even more certain of his judgment.

I remember Annabelle was brought home by Gordon in a similar way, wasn't she?

Amused by the peculiar scene before him, Chu Feng was no longer in a hurry to leave. He wanted to see what kind of bizarre object this man had brought home this time.

Mr. Gordon really is a peculiar fellow!

Chu Feng withdrew the foot he had already placed in the stairwell. He turned and approached the tightly embracing couple—if one were to ignore the child caught between them.

"Excuse me for interrupting you two. I think that even though little Lia can't speak yet, ignoring her feelings like this is quite improper."

Startled by Chu Feng's voice, the couple looked up. They finally noticed their daughter sandwiched between them, still struggling and waving her little hands, trying to push them apart.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Lia!" Gordon quickly released his hands.

Mia, Lia's mother, merely glanced at the daughter in her arms. She then looked up at Chu Feng, who had approached them, and asked with confusion, "Mr. Chu Feng...?"

"Mr. Chu Feng? You actually came!" Gordon exclaimed, his face alight with surprised delight as he followed his wife's gaze and saw Chu Feng for the first time. "Are you here to deal with the Annabelle situation?"

"Uh... That's already been resolved."

Seeing her husband was still confused about the situation, Mia quickly leaned close and whispered in his ear for a moment.

"I see... I'm sorry, Mia! I came back too late."

"It's alright! Isn't everything resolved now?" Mia smiled and comforted her self-reproaching husband.

"Sorry to interrupt you two again, but I feel I must." Chu Feng sighed, patting his forehead as the couple began their public display of affection once more.

"Mr. Gordon, may I have a look at the gift box you brought back?"

Only when Chu Feng spoke did Mia notice the large gift box at her husband's feet.

"Dear, did you bring back another doll?"

Chu Feng had assumed Mrs. Mia would be somewhat fearful of dolls after the Annabelle incident. To his surprise, however, her face was now filled with excitement.

It seems she truly loves dolls...

"Yes! But this time, I've brought back a wooden puppet!" Gordon was delighted to see the excitement on his wife's face. He promptly knelt and untied the ribbon on the box.

The untied ribbon slipped to the ground. Gordon slowly lifted the lid of the gift box. A wooden puppet dressed in a black suit, with a red bow tie at its collar, appeared before them.

"Thank you, my love! I really like it." Gazing at the exquisite puppet, Mia reached out excitedly to take it.

Meanwhile, Gordon had just set the large box lid aside. Hearing his wife's excited tone, he turned his smiling face back towards the gift box on the floor.

The moment he saw the contents of the gift box, the joyful smile plastered on his face froze instantly.

"If you like it, that's... that's good... huh?"

Gordon blinked in disbelief, a sense of bewilderment washing over him.

"This... this isn't right! This isn't the puppet I bought!"
