Skunk's face lit up with joy, and his pace quickened.
Like a whirlwind, Skunk charged into the Crystal Fomartion. He nodded at his two teammates, then spun around to block with his Knight's Sword, its blade flashing as he struck at the Evil Spirit hot on his heels.
CLANG!
With the sudden clash of metal, a ferocious skeleton materialized out of thin air, its large bony claws securely clamping down on the glowing Knight's Sword in Skunk's hand.
"Exorcist..." the ferocious skeleton slowly growled, before a stream of black smoke suddenly spewed from its mouth.
Skunk, being so close to the Evil Spirit, naturally couldn't dodge the attack.
The man, struggling to hold the Evil Spirit's bony claws at bay with his Knight's Sword, didn't even try to avoid the oncoming black mist.
The moment the black mist was about to engulf him, a glow suddenly emerged from the crystal hanging around his neck, firmly blocking the encroaching black mist.
"Hurry, Turtle! I can't hold on much longer!"
"Just hang in there a little longer!" Turtle, who was being urged on, had beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
In his hands, a fist-sized crystal was slowly emitting a dazzling glow under the influence of his Spiritual Power.
As the glow connected, the crystals scattered on the ground began to light up one by one.
Finally, when Skunk could no longer withstand the Evil Spirit and was blasted away, all the crystals lit up.
The entire area, bordered by the crystals, was instantly enveloped in a radiant glow.
The Evil Spirit, which had been invisible and was ready to reach for Mountain Cat with its massive claws, suddenly materialized under this luminescence, kneeling on the ground and wailing in agony.
AWOOOO!
"I've got it handled. It's your turn to strike!" Turtle, already gasping for breath, flopped onto the ground, exhausted.
"No problem, watch Uncle Mountain Cat do his thing!" Unbeknownst to everyone, a pair of steel gauntlets engraved with Mystic Runes had appeared on Mountain Cat's hands.
CLINK! The gauntlets tapped lightly together, producing a crisp sound.
With the flow of Spiritual Power within him, the Runes engraved on the gauntlets also began to emit a faint glow.
Mountain Cat turned, looked at the Evil Spirit kneeling close by, and a sinister smile formed on his lips.
THUD!
With a muffled impact, the Evil Spirit's body was sent flying, crashing against a suddenly materialized barrier before sliding down slowly.
Mountain Cat showed no surprise at this, instead dashing swiftly towards the Evil Spirit.
Behind him, Skunk was now back on his feet. He regretfully glanced at the crystal around his neck, which now bore fine cracks. Cursing vehemently, he quickly picked up his Knight's Sword and charged at the Evil Spirit.
"FUCK, damn Evil Spirit!"
Under their pincer attack, the Evil Spirit, already suppressed by the Crystal Fomartion beneath it and unable to counterattack or escape, quickly turned to ash.
"Done!" Mountain Cat, having just turned the Evil Spirit beneath him to ash with a punch, smugly raised his fist.
Skunk, who was a step too late and had intended to stab his Knight's Sword into the Evil Spirit's rear, could only shrug and reluctantly sheathe his sword.
"Now you see how awesome my gauntlets are! They're fast, and they're fierce!" Mountain Cat boasted, waving his gauntlets in front of Skunk before carefully stowing them away in his storage item.
"Be careful. If you burst your storage item, you won't get your gauntlets back!" Skunk rolled his eyes and walked over to Turtle, who had been resting for a while.
"How's it going, Turtle?"
"At least I can still hear you two shouting those ridiculous codenames!" Turtle, just opening his eyes, resignedly gave up on changing how they addressed each other.
Turtle, having recovered some of his strength, quickly stood up and began picking up the crystals from the ground, one by one, placing them into his bag.
Chu Feng, who had been watching the trio's battle from nearby, glanced at their Combat Suits and grew somewhat curious about the three Exorcists' identities.
They didn't seem to be part of the Federal Government's Exorcism Department. At least, Chu Feng hadn't seen those characteristic golden canisters.
With a guess forming in his mind, Chu Feng revealed himself, blocking the trio's path.
"Who's there?" Skunk, Turtle, and Mountain Cat, who had finished packing and were ready to return, tensed upon seeing the figure that had suddenly appeared on the road.
None of the three were at their peak, and Turtle, in particular, was low on Spiritual Power.
If they encountered another Evil Spirit, although they could manage to deal with it, they would inevitably be injured.
"Relax, you three! I'm human."
As Chu Feng slowly approached, the three finally got a clear look at the man in the black trench coat.
An Easterner... in a black trench coat? That familiar face... could it be?
"Is it Mr. Chu Feng? This isn't an illusion created by an Evil Spirit, is it?"
Mountain Cat nervously glanced at the crystal around his neck, then looked up at his teammates before finally confirming that his eyes weren't deceiving him.
"Oh my God! Mr. Chu Feng, I'm your fan!"
Overly excited, Mountain Cat rushed to Chu Feng's side. After a close examination, he threw his arms open, wanting to give Chu Feng a big hug.
"Uh... Thank you for your support, but let's skip the hug!" Chu Feng said, embarrassed, politely declining Mountain Cat's hug.
"Mountain Cat, did you forget? Mr. Chu Feng is Eastern; he's probably not used to hugs between men!"
Skunk's voice brought the overly excited Mountain Cat back to his senses.
"Sorry, Mr. Chu Feng! I got too excited!" Mountain Cat said apologetically, extending his hand to shake Chu Feng's.
"That's... okay! Actually, I was just passing by and happened to see your exorcism. To be honest, all three of you are quite skilled. That's why I couldn't help but want to talk with you!"
Knowing for the first time that he had fans, Chu Feng felt a strange sensation.
Mountain Cat, thrilled by the compliment from his idol, flushed with excitement and hurriedly said, "Mr. Chu Feng, please, ask anything! I'll tell you everything I know!"
Skunk and Turtle, though not as agitated as Mountain Cat, also nodded.
"Mr. Chu Feng, just tell us what you'd like to know!"
Seeing that none of them had any objections, Chu Feng naturally didn't refuse their kindness.
"I see the three of you are wearing National Guard Combat Suits. Are you part of the Oregon State National Guard?"
This question wasn't exactly a secret, and all three nodded in unison.
"That's right, Mr. Chu Feng. The three of us were recently recruited as Exorcists by the Oregon State National Guard."
Chu Feng's heart stirred at their reply; it confirmed a suspicion he had.
