Chu Feng, well aware that some questions were not for the three exorcists who had just joined the National Guard, didn't press further.
Instead, he changed the subject.
"I noticed you three coordinate quite well. Is this something you learned after training with the Guard?"
Chu Feng, whose intentions lay elsewhere, wasn't truly commenting on their teamwork. He was more interested in learning how the Oregon State Government trained exorcists.
Unexpectedly, he received a very surprising answer.
"We learned from following you, Mr. Chu Feng!"
"Learned from me?" Chu Feng asked in astonishment, looking at the three before him. He certainly didn't remember taking on three apprentices at any time.
"Yes, we studied on the exorcist website published by your Exorcism Agency!"
Exorcist website? Chu Feng was shocked to hear this. He didn't recall his Exorcism Agency ever creating an exorcist website.
"Exactly! Like many newly awakened exorcists, we learned the ways of exorcism from that site!"
Although surprised by this answer, Chu Feng's face betrayed no sign of it.
"I'm glad it helped you. Now, I should be heading back. I won't disturb you any longer."
Chu Feng waved at the three, eager to return and investigate this "exorcist website" he had just learned about.
"Wait, Mr. Chu Feng, please give me an autograph before you leave!"
Seeing his idol about to leave, Cougar quickly stepped forward to stop Chu Feng, directly taking out a pen and notebook from his storage item and handing them over.
"'Uh... Okay!' Chu Feng agreed. It was his first time signing an autograph for a fan. He scribbled down two blocky characters for his name and then made a hasty retreat, as if escaping.
Once Chu Feng was out of sight, Skunk suddenly spoke up, breaking Cougar's beaming joy.
"Cougar, it seems like you scared your idol away!"
"Huh? What?" His attention fixed on the autograph in the notebook, Cougar looked up, bewildered, not understanding what Skunk meant.
"Never mind... I mean, we should hurry back!" Skunk, who had never seen Cougar act like this before, shook his head with a smile and said.
「...」
Back in the off-road vehicle on the way home, Chu Feng popped a piece of mint-flavored chewing gum into his mouth.
Taking a deep breath, the cool mint flooding his mouth, Chu Feng muttered to himself, "The federal government has assembled an exorcist force, and now these state governments are doing the same... Are there really that many exorcists?"
The probability of exorcists awakening naturally is extremely low. Even one in ten thousand seemed a bit high to Chu Feng.
It might be possible for an entire nation to concentrate its efforts and select an exorcist force. But in a country like America, where different states were starting to form their own teams... Factoring out those disqualified for age, exorcists unwilling to enlist for various reasons, and those who failed selection due to other issues, at least half the potential candidates would be eliminated. On average, an Exorcist unit's barracks would likely end up with no more than a few cats and kittens. After all, to compete in a new version of an arms race, you need people, at the very least!
He also needed to check on the Exorcism Agency's website the trio had mentioned. Upon returning to the camp, Chu Feng quickly went back to his tent.
He took out his laptop from his Storage Space, plugged in a wireless network card, and, sitting on the bed with the computer, immediately searched for his Exorcism Agency's website.
Chu Feng Exorcism Agency!
The name was simple and unoriginal, but by now, at least half of America knew of Chu Feng. His name was the Exorcism Agency's biggest draw.
"Found it!"
The first search result was the Exorcism Agency's official website.
With a light click of the mouse, the page slowly loaded, finally opening.
The first thing to catch Chu Feng's eye was the Exorcism Agency's basic introduction and an overview of its services. The webpage's background featured the silhouette of a man in a black trench coat, holding a shotgun.
Although the picture didn't show his face, Chu Feng recognized at a glance that it was definitely a photo of himself; he just wasn't sure when or by whom it had been taken!
At the top of the webpage, among several other options, Chu Feng immediately spotted the one for "Exorcist Training."
Having found his target, Chu Feng moved the cursor over the option and clicked.
This time, the webpage took a long time to load, clearly demonstrating the poor and unstable internet signal there.
Half a minute later, the slow connection finally finished loading the page.
"The Basic Understanding of Exorcists."
"The Levels and Characteristics of the Bizarre."
"Standard Exorcism Weapons for Exorcists."
"How to Detect the Presence of the Bizarre!"
"A Formation for Exorcism Given Free to Everyone by the Exorcism Agency!"
"The Importance of Coordination!"
"..."
Upon opening the page, a series of concise links immediately caught Chu Feng's eye.
He tentatively clicked on the first link. This time, the loading speed was extremely fast; the page loaded in just one second.
"Exorcist: A regular person who, through unknown reasons, awakens. After awakening, a peculiar energy is born within their body, which we call Spiritual Power.
Spiritual Power: Its effects are extremely powerful. It can comprehensively enhance an Exorcist's physical fitness and can also be used in combination with various items to counter the Bizarre..."
After browsing the webpage for a while, Chu Feng found that most of it was basic information. It seemed more appropriate for newly awakened Exorcists. Finding little of immediate use, his gaze shifted to the "Exorcists' Forum" link at the top of the page, and he clicked on it without hesitation.
"My first exorcism record post, wish me luck!"
"Have you all gone to the Exorcism Agency to get your Exorcist Level certification?" Below the title was a photo of a delicate badge held in a hand, clearly engraved with two stars and the words "Second Level Exorcist."
"Oh no, I think there's a Bound Spirit in my house!"
"My run-ins with the Bizarre!"
"Excuse me, how do I join the Exorcism Agency?"
"..."
The moment the webpage finished loading, post titles of all sorts flooded Chu Feng's vision.
After a brief skim, Chu Feng immediately clicked on the post about Exorcist Level certification, intrigued by the photo.
"Second Level Exorcist? How long have you been awakened?"
"Impressive! I only got to First Level..."
"Haven't gone yet, New York is too far. I wonder when Mr. Chu Feng will open a branch of the Exorcism Agency here!"
"And that Spiritual Energy Value detector, who knows if it's accurate! How could I possibly only be rated as a First Level Exorcist?"
"'Trash with a Spiritual Energy Value under five! The Exorcism Agency's detector can't possibly be wrong!'" Following this statement was a photo displaying three shining gold stars and the words "Third Level Exorcist."
