THE DESCENT OF EVIL GODS

Chapter 4: The Turning Point

A Nation's Dilemma

The overwhelming pressure that Su Chen unleashed slowly faded, but its impact remained.

Some of the highest-ranking officials in Huaxia—men and women who had faced wars, economic crises, and global conflicts—sat frozen in their seats. Not a single one dared to speak.

Even the President of Huaxia, a man known for his calmness under pressure, had a serious expression. His fingers tapped lightly against the table as if measuring the weight of Su Chen's words.

Finally, Minister Zhao Rui, the head of Huaxia's military strategy, found his voice.

"…Let's assume, for a moment, that what you say is true," Zhao Rui said, his voice cautious. "The gods—true divine beings—will descend in two months?"

Su Chen nodded. "Yes. And they will not come to negotiate. They will come to conquer."

The room fell into tense silence.

Some officials exchanged glances. Others clenched their fists.

One man, General Han Ming, leaned forward. "Why should we trust you? What proof do you have besides your flashy display?"

Su Chen smirked.

"You still doubt me?"

With a flick of his wrist, he conjured a floating sphere of energy, glowing like a miniature sun. Unlike before, this was pure mana, raw and untamed.

And then—

He compressed it in an instant.

The space around the sphere distorted, the walls of the conference hall groaning as the gravitational pull increased.

The air itself twisted.

It wasn't an attack. It was a demonstration.

Even the strongest Awakeners in Huaxia had never seen such control.

Zhao Rui's eyes narrowed. "…This power. No human has ever wielded something like this."

Su Chen's expression turned cold.

"Because I am not just any human. I was reborn with knowledge from the future. If you refuse to believe me now, you will when it's too late."

The First Step: Eliminating the Cult

The officials weren't fools. They saw the undeniable truth—Su Chen was powerful. If he wasn't lying, then the country faced an extinction-level event.

The President finally spoke.

"If what you say is true, then Huaxia must prepare. What do you suggest?"

Su Chen's eyes gleamed.

"First, we eliminate the cult."

A few officials flinched.

The God Worshippers, a secretive religious group, had been a thorn in Huaxia's side for years. But the government had never taken them seriously.

"They are the ones accelerating the descent of the gods," Su Chen continued. "They have ancient knowledge and hidden rituals that weaken the boundaries between realms."

Zhao Rui frowned. "We have been monitoring them, but they lack the numbers to be a true threat."

"You're wrong," Su Chen said sharply. "They have divine artifacts—relics left by the gods in the past. Right now, they are preparing to open a gate ahead of schedule. If they succeed, the gods will arrive even sooner."

The President's face darkened.

"…How long do we have before this 'gate' is opened?"

"Less than one month."

Tension filled the room.

One month. That was far sooner than the supposed two-month timeline.

Minister Zhao Rui gritted his teeth. "Then we have no choice. If this cult is truly a danger to Huaxia's survival, we will mobilize immediately."

Su Chen's lips curled into a small smile.

"Good."

The World Scoffs at Huaxia

With Huaxia on board, Su Chen turned his attention to the rest of the world.

Despite the growing supernatural events worldwide, no other country had taken the matter seriously.

Using Huaxia's top-level diplomatic channels, Su Chen broadcasted a private emergency meeting to world leaders.

Governments from around the globe—including the United States, Europe, Russia, and Japan—joined the conference call.

Su Chen stood before the camera, his face calm.

"In two months, the gods will descend. This is not a warning—it is a certainty. If you fail to prepare, your nations will be wiped out."

The reaction was immediate.

Laughter.

Mockery.

The U.S. representative smirked. "Ah, so Huaxia is embracing mythology now? Should we start preparing for dragons next?"

A European minister scoffed. "This is nothing more than superstition. We will not engage in paranoia over a fantasy."

A Japanese general chuckled. "The supernatural incidents happening recently are anomalies, not signs of an apocalypse."

Su Chen expected this.

He leaned closer to the camera, his gaze sharp.

"I am giving you this warning once," he said. "When the gods arrive, your nations will fall first. And when you beg for help, don't expect me to come."

Then—

He ended the call.

Let them laugh.

They would regret it soon enough.
