The Cursed Extra: Twin Souls Against the World

Chapter 81: The truth

The moment Xane heard about the dwarf from the house of Amroos, it was as if someone had hit his head with a massive hammer.

Not even he, even Zayn, quieted down.

Both of them understood from their actions that each of their choices could lead to changes in the future.

Zayn said in his mind. [With such a big anomaly like Samuel present, how come the final team is still the same? I understand Kaia and even Amroos. But Eline? There are many students with much higher potential than hers, so why?]

Xane said in a dreaded tone, <It's like someone is making sure most of the stuff still follows the plot.>

[Wait… do you think there is someone else like me?]

Both of them just froze for a bit in silence.

Xane just rubbed his chin and suddenly asked Marcin, "This team already looks super strong. Then why do you think they would want Melina? I don't think any other team could contend with them."

Marcin frowned a bit. "Ahh, it's hard to say, but with Liam and Samuel combined, yeah, this team might be the strongest one from our class. But you have to understand that this competition of the top ten was never about team power."

Xane paused and asked, "Wait, what do you mean by that?"

Marcin was about to continue, but then he paused and said, "Five points?"

Xane raised his eyebrow, but Zayn firmly refused in his mind. [Don't waste points. I already know it. Also, to confirm, we just have to wait until tomorrow or next week at most to know all the details of the competition.]

Xane paused and then clicked his tongue. "Too much. I want to know other stuff, so it's not suitable to waste points for now."

Marcin did not seem to care much and continued. "Well, back to the class. Now, the second change within the class was the division between the upper and lower batches."

"Oh? What's that?"

Marcin said with a smile, "It's a hierarchy based on a person's potential. Those with gold and above potential are part of the upper group. These people interact with each other, while those with silver and below potential are part of the lower batch."

"Students from one batch won't interfere with those from the other batch. Though there were some exceptions, people mostly agreed."

Xane asked in his mind, <Now what is all of this bullshit about?>

Zayn didn't think much and said, [Oh, it should be related to the competition. I'll explain it to you later.]

Xane mentally nodded and instead asked, "This is interesting, but what about the descendants of the big families? Are those with low potential also part of the lower batch?"

Marcin sneered. "Well, they consider themselves upper tier, but except for the people they are close with, no other members of the upper tier want to interact with them."

Xane rubbed his chin. "Oh, then what happened in the third week?"

Marcin first said, "Let me tell you this: the team formation I told you about was a gradual process. Even by the third class, that dwarf was not part of Liam's team."

Xane raised his head. "Wait, Liam's team?"

Marcin nodded his head like he understood Xane's confusion and said, "Well, no one is sure why, but Liam is the sole leader, and Samuel didn't seem to have any problem with that. Both of them were friends before joining the academy, so that might play a role there."

Xane thought about his last meeting with Samuel.

At that time, that guy had almost broken his collarbone just because he wanted to get close to Liam.

Not only did this guy appear out of nowhere, but his actions were also quite weird. After all, he had the same potential as Liam, but then why did he always seem to be attached to Liam?

Xane even remembered that in their first class, both of them came together.

Not only that, even in the first week, the few times he saw Liam, Samuel was always with him. This sure was a bit weird.

Xane suppressed the questions coming into his head as he heard Marcin. "Well, in the third class, there were a couple of other strong teams that emerged from our class."

"One with a Zenaris family member, and the second was full of Blood Moon elves. Each of these teams is full of upper batch members, but still, it was clear that even if they combined, they might not compete with Liam's team."

"Yeah, another thing I forgot to mention. There was a rumor that one more member had almost joined Liam's team, but for some reason, they fell out, and that guy also formed his own team."

Xane noticed that Marcin only said "that guy" without revealing his name.

It was clear that if he wanted to learn about these other teams, he had to pay more.

Xane was not interested in other teams. Instead, he decided to ask the most important question. "I want information about the guy who attacked me."

Marcin tilted his head in confusion. "Don't you already know him?"

Xane remembered the guy shouting about his sister, this and that. Too bad he didn't retain Viyron's memory, so he didn't know about him or his sister.

Still, not wanting to raise suspicion, Xane asked, "Well, there were many who were with him, right? I want all their information. Also… what's with that Night Creep thing?"

Marcin suddenly sneered. "Oh, so the rumor about your fallout with your fiancée was true."

This hit him like another storm, and he stood up. "My what?"

[What the hell? When did Viyron have a partner?]

Both Xane and Zayn focused on Marcin.

Feeling the intense gaze, Marcin just scratched his head. "Hey, you don't have to look at me like that. The entire first year, you know by now how Auren caught you forcing yourself on that girl and cheating on his sister."

"It was such a big incident that Melina even publicly came and apologized to that girl. Your actions made them lose face. This is also the reason Melina was so helpless against Liam's team's pressure."

Xane just stared at Marcin with a blank expression. As the scene of his first life started flashing through his head.

He even stopped listening to the whole night creep thing when a smile crept onto his face.

The moment Marcin saw that smile, he froze. He did not know, but even shifted back as he felt this strange pressure from Xane.

Before he could make sense of this strange pressure, he heard a giggle next to his ear.

That sound sent shivers down his spine as he jumped up and shouted. "Nooo!"
